I noticed the other thread was full and have started a new one.

Lovely to hear of everyone’s 20 week scans. Thanks to those of you who gave me a list of baby essentials, very helpful!

Hope you’re all doing well!

thank you all ladies❤️ nicu it’s a scary place with ups and downs, thankfully we having a good day today for the twinnies🤞🙏
although it is a long road we pray and hope for the best outcome!

@Oatmilktea yes I was in the hospital when hemorrhage started thank god and a few hours later we were in the theater😞
I was in hospital since Monday when my water broke(although the babies still had lots of liquor) and started having regular bleeds until it was uncontrollable anymore and was causing distress to me and bubbas as I was loosing too much blood.
I had a low lying placenta, which the surgeons after c section said that it started to swift and start to detach.

Oatmilktea · 26/04/2024 11:33

Wow that’s so scary @CB2805, thank goodness you were in the hospital at the time. If you need any support or even a sounding board there’s a FB page called Placenta Previa & Acreta Support Group. It’s worldwide so always people active day and night. I’ve found it very helpful during my time in hospital knowing there’s many women in the same boat. There are also lots of NICU mums on the page too.

I’ll be keeping you and your twinnies in my thoughts! Have you named them yet? 🩵🩷

@CB2805
Congratulations on your twins' arrival!! Sending my love and prayers for you and your little ones. 🩵🩷

Sophie3003 · 26/04/2024 15:33

Yes do both sets of twins have names yet? I am still considering names but haven't properly discussed with my husband yet- feel very unorganised!

Bali200 · 26/04/2024 15:44

Gosh that sounds so scary @CB2805 but
huge congratulations on their arrival, they are in the best hands at NICU 💗🩵

Sophie3003 · 26/04/2024 15:45

@CB2805 and sorry congratulations on the safe arrivals of your babies, I do hope all continues to go well xx

Amberellaella · 26/04/2024 22:08

On a different note, if anybody else has been struggling with debilitating fatigue then you may be interested to hear that I’ve upped my iron intake (by two shots of spatone a day, taken at night) and it seems to be helping… I wasn’t anaemic at either booking or 28 week bloods but I do have a history of being low on iron in general.

Nocoffeenotalkie · 26/04/2024 23:04

@CB2805 Congratulations on the arrival of your twins. I hope you're recovering ok and that their NICU journey is as smooth as possible.

We just ordered our car seat and moses basket (our new purchases) whilst they were on offer. We went for Snuz basket (£25 off) and the Joie 360 i-spin seat which stays in the car and is rear facing until 4.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 26/04/2024 23:28

@Nocoffeenotalkie - we have the snuzpod bedside crib and the Joie 360 seat and loved both, excellent choices! Just need to remember how to put all the cushions back in the seat to make it baby sized again now as we’re moving DS (since he’ll be 4 anyway) into a bigger seat

ceruleansky · 27/04/2024 05:37

I have a very active baby who kicks early in the morning, after breakfast, in the evenings and at night.
Since yesterday baby's kicks have been few and far between. And feel less intense. I'm 26w rn and my next appointment is in the first week of May.
I do feel kicks but they just feel different.
Idk if I should visit the maternity unit.

Amberellaella · 27/04/2024 06:22

@ceruleansky I would call them - better to be on the safe side x

Lisao86 · 27/04/2024 07:04

@ceruleansky i seem to have a lazier baby but when I was 26 weeks I hadn’t felt her for 24 hours, and couldn’t stopped worrying. I rang triage who said before 28 weeks they send the community midwife to you - might be different in different areas. Saw midwife within a couple of hours and thankfully all was fine. She said I did the right thing though.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 27/04/2024 07:38

@ceruleansky - the midwives have said to me they’d always prefer you call and check than not. I also didn’t feel much around 26 weeks for a day or so but had a midwife check the next day anyway and all was fine, nearly 28weeks now and I think he’s had a growth spurt or something as there’s no mistaking feeling him move loads now.

Oatmilktea · 27/04/2024 07:46

@ceruleansky you should phone for peace of mind. The midwives would rather you went in for nothing than stayed at home worrying!

@Morningcoffeeaddict @Nocoffeenotalkie we are also looking at the Joie 360. I have a stupid question though, baby and I will mostly be using my car during mat leave but there will be the odd occasion baby will travel in DPs car. Can you buy a separate isofix base and just transfer the seat between the two cars, or do we need to buy two of the same car seat? I stupidly thought isofix bases were universal and it doesn’t look like you can buy just the base online for this car seat 🤔

OP posts:
Morningcoffeeaddict · 27/04/2024 07:50

@Oatmilktea - the base doesn’t detach from the Joie 360, I’m assuming it’s because of the spinning mechanism. We just had the one when I was on maternity and moved the whole seat from one to the other if we needed to use my husband’s car (not often and I made him move it) then when I went back to work and we were doing either end of the day for nursery runs we just got a second one for his car.
I have taken it out and left it for other mothers at Preschool if someone else has picked my son up for whatever reason recently and it’s not that bad to swap over (especially once you’re used to it) but it’s a bit bulky to begin with and I’d be annoyed doing it all the time I think.

Oatmilktea · 27/04/2024 07:55

@Morningcoffeeaddict that makes sense as to why I can’t find a second base online! I think we will stick to having only this for now then and when I return to work next year we will get another car seat for my partners car which will mostly be used for the nursery run

OP posts:
Morningcoffeeaddict · 27/04/2024 07:55

@Oatmilktea - I realise that sounds a bit negative so I will say that I love it as a seat though - the spinning makes it so much easier to put them in and make sure they’re properly strapped in - especially when they’re bigger as DS was a ninja at wriggling out of his (skinny child) so it meant I could check there was no escaping before driving off! DS has always been very comfortable in it as well.

Oatmilktea · 27/04/2024 07:58

@Morningcoffeeaddict thanks! My sister has it for her 2 year old and it looks much easier to get him in than the one my mum uses when he stays with her, as it doesn’t have the spin function!

OP posts:
Morningcoffeeaddict · 27/04/2024 08:02

@Oatmilktea no problem. It definitely is much easier to use.
only real problem we had was DS was in nicu and needed to pass the car seat challenge to be allowed home so dragging that massive thing in (nicu at our hospital is deep in the hospital and upstairs of course) was a pain, but he passed the test with flying colours and the nurses said it looked like a really good seat so it worked out in the end!

Sophie3003 · 27/04/2024 08:04

It is interesting you are talking about the ispin. My daughter is in one but will be out of it soon and we have another (if it's brought back!) and the spin is great but wasn't sure about using it with the pushchair/ability to take out of the car etc.

missmoosh · 27/04/2024 08:34

@ceruleansky defo get checked by the midwife, they are still a bit small at 26 weeks so could have just turned into a position you don't feel as much. Best to be be safe though!
Oo car seats, I did tons of research of them and my sister added me to a car seat safety group. We have gone for one of the recommended ones from there the cybex cloud t, with the spinning base too. Arrives in a couple of weeks and I'm excited to look at it 😂

bringmearainbow · 27/04/2024 08:53

@ceruleansky I would ring triage I had something similar at 26 weeks they brought me in for monitoring and you could hear baby having a party but I couldn't feel anything. Midwife said sometimes it's better to come in even just for your mental health. I think it does depend of your trust though she said they never used to see you before 28 weeks but have recently changed the rules

Morningcoffeeaddict · 27/04/2024 09:51

@Sophie3003 we live so far from everything that for us the ability to put it on the pushchair was useless as you basically run out of the allowed time in a car seat if you were to try to drive somewhere, use it in the pushchair and then drive back - I also babywear a lot so not bothered about use with a pushchair personally. That being said DS has always been a good sleeper so if he fell asleep in the car it’s never been an issue to transfer (partly the swivel makes it easier as they face you and are straight into your arms for carrying to the house and then cot it into a sling / the buggy if you’re out) I know some people prefer to be able to move them in the seat if they’ve fallen asleep.

as with all things I think it’s preference and what works for your lifestyle better.

Nocoffeenotalkie · 27/04/2024 10:53

@Sophie3003 we are just going to transfer from car seat to pram/sling if out and about. I had a car seat that clipped onto the pram frame with DD1 but would rather have 1 car seat until baby is 4 than buy 2. Also the Which? review of the Joie was good.

Amberellaella · 27/04/2024 12:57

Might be worth remembering that these babies will be arriving in the height of summer - whilst babywearing is also my preferred method of transportation, it is nice to have another option on particularly hot and sweaty days 😂
