I noticed the other thread was full and have started a new one.

Lovely to hear of everyone’s 20 week scans. Thanks to those of you who gave me a list of baby essentials, very helpful!

Hope you’re all doing well!

@MummyBear2519 wonderful news they are doing so well and you are well too.

wannabe123 · 22/04/2024 20:52

@MummyBear2519 congratulations! Hope they continue to do well and you are recovering well x

Hoping4amiracle · 22/04/2024 20:57

@MummyBear2519 that sounds super stressful, I hope your daughters are doing well in NiCU and you are recovering from the shock!

Thanks everyone for well wishes!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 22/04/2024 21:04

@MummyBear2519 - congratulations on the arrival of your twins! Glad to hear they’re both doing well in NICU, take care of yourself too - it’s a rollercoaster in there but these preemies are little fighters!

@Hoping4amiracle - thinking of you and sending best wishes to your little one. NICU staff are wonderful people so trust they’ll do their best for your baby and make sure to take care of yourself too. These preemies are really tough little people! I knew a few people with IUGR babes when I was in NICU with DS and they all did really well despite being teeny - including a 25weeker who is now a happy healthy almost 4 year old. Try not to lose hope!

Nocoffeenotalkie · 22/04/2024 21:13

@MummyBear2519 my goodness! I am so pleased they are doing well and I hope you are recovering from the infection/delivery. It must have been so scary when your waters broke so early.

@Hoping4amiracle thinking of you x

Savvy21 · 22/04/2024 21:22

@MummyBear2519 congratulations. Keep us updated with how they are doing.
@Hoping4amiracle keeping everything crossed for you.

Amberellaella · 23/04/2024 07:01

@MummyBear2519 congratulations! First babies on the thread to be born ☺️ glad they’re doing well and hope you’re recovering as well x

missmoosh · 23/04/2024 07:48

@MummyBear2519 oh gosh, I'm so glad to hear they are doing well! That must have been terrifying!

@Hoping4amiracle im really sorry to hear what you are going through, as others have said NICU staff are amazing (my mum worked in NICU for many years and the babies are so strong)

Amberellaella · 23/04/2024 10:36

Ok so had my first fundal height measurement today and as expected am measuring big! 32cm at 28.5W. MW didn’t seem overly worried though and I already have a growth scan booked for 32 weeks so we’re going to wait until then to check on the little fella x

MummyBear2519 · 23/04/2024 10:47

Thank you all. My eldest was a premature too so not a whole new world to be although she was 32 weeks. My biggest issue is not having much luck with expressing milk. In so much pain but it’s just not coming out!
Cant believe they are a week old already but continuing to exceed all exceptions

Morningcoffeeaddict · 23/04/2024 11:02

@MummyBear2519 - I assume you’ve already spoken to them but does the hospital have a lactation consultant who can help? One of the MCAs came to see me a few times a day to get hand expressing going when DS was born prem (I couldn’t do it myself no matter what I tried) and then they taught me how to get the best out of the pumps for me after a couple of days past and my milk came in which really helped with getting my pumping journey off to a good start. Hopefully you’ll get some milk going soon!

AnonymousXXIX · 23/04/2024 15:52

Wow congratulations @MummyBear2519. As @Morningcoffeeaddict said, make sure you get a lactation consultant involved! And also don't stress, focus on recovery, and cuddles. You're doing the best you can, and any milk you get at all will be great.

ExpectantEs · 23/04/2024 23:08

@MummyBear2519 Congratulations on your babies!

CB2805 · 23/04/2024 23:34

@MummyBear2519 congratulations for the arrival of your twins🫶🏻hope you have an easy and uneventful stay at IUGR!
I might be the next on the group as my water broke last day as well at 27w3d but everything seems fine and twins are doing exceptionally well, so let’s see how long they keep cooking🤞

don’t forget to take care of yourself mama❤️

ceruleansky · 24/04/2024 04:03

@MummyBear2519
Congratulations on your twin girls! 💗💗 Hope you rest and heal as much as possible! So exciting!!

@CB2805
Omg!! How do you feel? Did they ask you to come in? How do you know when it's time to go in? Praying for a healthy delivery! 😇

Jess725 · 24/04/2024 11:56

@MummyBear2519 Wow! congrats on your new arrivals! 💕

ExpectantEs · 24/04/2024 13:23

Hope everything goes well @CB2805!!

Can't believe some of us are already having our babies. At first it seemed like this would be a super long journey but we are coming towards the end now! I'll be 30weeks on Saturday and feeling unprepared mentally/physically for the biggest change of my life!

I've only bought my travel system and loads of clothes, changing mat etc. Don't have a next2me/cot or a chest or drawers/wardrobe. Nursery full of cardboard boxes.
Waiting for baby shower next week to see what fills in the gaps.

Feeling unprepared!

Savvy21 · 24/04/2024 14:38

@ExpectantEs I'm also approaching 30 weeks and feeling just as under prepared and this is my second! The time now seems to be flying by.
Has anyone started packing their hospital bag yet?

Morningcoffeeaddict · 24/04/2024 14:49

@Savvy21 - I’ve packed my hospital bag, but just for me not baby as I had a 28weeker last time and my husband trying to pack the bag for me was a good effort on his part but not ideal. In terms of baby - if they come early then the hospital provide everything you need and they can’t wear clothes while they’re in the incubator anyway so not really anything to worry about having sorted early. Still plenty of time for us all to get things organised - is what I keep telling myself knowing we’re meant to be moving house in a couple of weeks!

missmoosh · 24/04/2024 16:49

I am only 26+4, so a bit behind some of you. But I have nothing ready really, we painted the nursery and the furniture is arriving in a few weeks. Then baby shower end of May when I'm about 31 weeks. So will probably kick myself into gear then! We have been focused on clearing out all our old junk and organising cupboards to give us as much storage as possible! Bloody interest rates put a hold on any moving for us!

Sophie3003 · 24/04/2024 17:11

Totally underprepared here too. Still searching for a house to buy, thankfully we have a very patient first time buyer. Have everything from my daughter but have no idea what I am having again this time so might change! And wanted to get a few new bits!

Nocoffeenotalkie · 24/04/2024 18:03

@ExpectantEs we have a travel system from my first but no wardrobes etc as will share with DD1 so her room needs a complete rearrange. Any baby clothes are currently in bags for each size. We're not having a baby shower either so...🤷‍♀️ We got a Snuzpod on marketplace but need to get a new mattress. Also car seats are next on our list to buy.

I guess as long as you have car seat, clothing, nappies and somewhere for them to sleep (formula/bottles if you are using it) You can cope with getting the rest afterwards.
