I noticed the other thread was full and have started a new one.

Lovely to hear of everyone’s 20 week scans. Thanks to those of you who gave me a list of baby essentials, very helpful!

Hope you’re all doing well!

@Oatmilktea hope you're being well looked after. It must have been really scary.

I had my physio appointment today and after having hip problems since I was about 19 I finally felt listened to 🎉 I was worried I was just going to be dismissed as "well you're pregnant and things hurt" but my appointment lasted about 45 minutes. Apparently my hip gets stuck rotated slightly forwards so I have been given some exercises to do every couple of hours as well as some exercises to help strengthen my abs. I've been wearing a serola belt which helps. The physio said I can keep wearing that as long as I'm happy to but the aim is that I don't have to and the ab exercises should help. I will stay on her caseload until 6 weeks PP and she suggested I try to get an appointment once baby is here so I can be given more ab exercises. So if anyone is suffering - try and get a referral. I thought it might be a waste of time but I genuinely felt listened to and like I have a plan going forward!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 04/04/2024 19:49

@Oatmilktea how are you getting on? Hope you’re doing ok and being well looked after.

@wannabe123 - that sounds really positive! Glad you were taken seriously and properly listened too.

———-

Had my 24 week growth scan today and saw the consultant. All going ok at the moment with baby and my bloods etc so hopeful that I’ll hang on with this little man longer than I did with his brother! Still on close monitoring and my kitchen counter still looks like a pharmacy but it seems to be working - hooray!

CB2805 · 06/04/2024 02:00

@Oatmilktea currently in the same boat so completely sympathize😞 had a massive red bleed Wednesday few hours after my growth scan! Spent all Thursday in triage but I refused to stay overnight as bleeding stopped everything seemed fine with babies and cervix and I couldn’t face staying in hospital (I know it may sound irresponsible but honestly I had crazy amount of bleeding since the beginning of my pregnancy and as long as babies are fine I prefer to be in the comfort of my own home!)
also low lying anterior placenta with twin A which is causing all the bleeding!
how are you feeling? Hope you get discharged soon and we both don’t experience any more of those bleeds🤞🤞🫶🏻

Oatmilktea · 06/04/2024 05:43

So sorry to hear that @CB2805! it’s just so scary isn’t it. I’m glad you and babies are fine. Did they try and talk you in to staying? I’m being kept in for 48 hours despite having no bleeding since I first found the bleeding on Thursday morning. So bored and uncomfortable in here so wish I’d done the same as you!

@Oatmilktea and @CB2805 I'm so sorry to hear you have both had that worry. Have they said why they want you in for 48 hours if your no longer bleeding? Is it just precautions?
And I @CB2805 i totally get just wanting to be at home, I hate staying in hospitals, so if it's not really necessary I would do the same thing. Listen to your body and if you need to go back just head straight back in without delay! ❤️
Wishing you both well!

Oatmilktea · 06/04/2024 08:37

@missmoosh yes just as a precaution and for observations. They sent me for an ultrasound yesterday and baby was fine. The doctor said yesterday as it was fresh red blood they prefer 48 hours without a bleed before letting you home.

This is the first time I’ve ever had to stay over in hospital so I didn’t know that saying no was an option! If they ask me to stay in again tonight I’ll ask to go home, I live only 10 mins away from the hospital should I need to return!

OP posts:
CB2805 · 06/04/2024 11:11

@Oatmilktea honestly when they said that I should stay in for 24hrs I asked questions like: will you do anything while I’m in? NO will you do a scan? NO because I had my regular growth scan the day before which was all good will you provide any medication through vein? NO
well then I want to go home and lay down on my bed - the doctor on call was super sweet and she said that she understands and that would be the best thing to do anyways but it’s a protocol on bleeds.
I was advised to go straight in if anymore bleeding occurs which I would do anyway.
If you have no more bleeding just ask them if you could go home - they can’t keep you in without your permission I think.
I hope you get home soon🩵

CB2805 · 06/04/2024 11:16

@Oatmilktea also the thing that scares me the most is that they have a protocol that if you’re admitted in for bleeding twice on the third time you stay in till birth even if you have no more bleeding which I’m not really kin on😞

@missmoosh thank you hun🫶🏻 honestly besides the bleed scare I was feeling completely fine and all my instincts told me to go home. Hope I won’t need to go back in there for bleeding🤞

Oatmilktea · 06/04/2024 12:38

@CB2805 the doctor was happy to discharge me today. They done an ultrasound yesterday which showed a 2cm pool of blood at the neck of the womb so she said I may bleed again, but asked if I wanted to go home or stay in. Of course I said go home and she was happy to agree as I live so close by.

I would hate to have to stay in until delivery, but I’ve heard of it happening 😭 fingers crossed we don’t have to. Some great points you made to your doctor though, will bear this in mind if it happens again!

You definitely can ask to go home whenever. I was in 18days with my son over the preeclampsia situation (6days before he was born and 12 after, with him in for 8 weeks total before he came home) and I got told “this isn’t a prison you know” twice by midwives when I was quizzing them about when I could go home. However in my case they were doing things - daily blood tests / fetal monitoring / monitoring my BP between 4 hourly and 15minutely / growth scans / liver scans / adjusting my meds etc etc so it felt like I probably should stay.
In your situations I’d definitely go home!

Oatmilktea · 06/04/2024 16:10

Thanks @Morningcoffeeaddict. Sorry to hear you were kept in for so long, that must have been tough. I’m quite a confident person normally but as soon as the doctor comes to see me, that goes out the window for some reason 🤦🏻‍♀️

CB2805 · 06/04/2024 16:10

@Oatmilktea im glad you’ve been discharged and everything is fine🫶🏻
did you experience any brown discharge? I’m having lots of watery clear/ brown discharge past 2days and now I’m freaking out it could be my waters going😞 I think they did swab me for waters while in maternity triage but can’t help and overthink now

Oatmilktea · 06/04/2024 16:40

Oh no @CB2805! Hopefully it’s just old blood that’s making its way out now. I had a bit of brown blood within the first 24 hours. If you’re worried definitely give them a call though!

@Oatmilktea it wasn’t great - definitely pleased to see my own bed when I was finally allowed home! Was during covid too so I couldn’t have visitors either which didn’t help the situation.

hopefully all of us can avoid any long stays!

Sophie3003 · 08/04/2024 11:40

I have found the magnesium on Beauty Pie. How many are you taking a day?

Morningcoffeeaddict · 08/04/2024 14:45

@Sophie3003 - I was taking 2 previously but my prenatal multivitamin has some as well so I’m just taking 1 a day with dinner / at the same time as my multivitamin now as a precaution on taking too much.

Sophie3003 · 08/04/2024 14:47

Thank you @Morningcoffeeaddict my pregnancy vitamins don't appear to have it now so have ordered some and will take 2 and see how I go. I had a very strange anxious episode on Saturday as well and have sometimes felt panicked so hoping these help also (was originally just birth related).

Morningcoffeeaddict · 08/04/2024 14:49

No problem @Sophie3003 - hopefully they will help you too. They also seem to be taking the edge off my leg cramps (which helps with the sleep) as a helpful aside - I’ve really struggled with it in the past and have just had the occasional slight niggle this time around.

Sophie3003 · 08/04/2024 14:51

Have been taking magnesium already but now this specific type and this seems much more catered to sleep etc. Has anyone else had anxiety in pregnancy?

wannabe123 · 08/04/2024 21:19

@Sophie3003 I definitely have anxious moments. I was an awful person to be around yesterday because I was feeling anxious about everything and nothing. I don't know if it's anxiety or anxious moments or if there's a difference between them. I find myself getting worried about movements and whether I've felt a "normal" amount. This baby seems to move more than I remember my 3 year old moving but I'm so much busier I think I forget I've felt movements too. I also seem to be worrying about going into premature labour for no particular reason or that something will be wrong with baby. I don't know if it stems from the anxiety I felt in the 6 weeks or so after my son was born and knowing I'm potentially heading to that headspace again. I also don't know whether it's just "normal pregnancy worries" or something more.

MyNameIsBatty · 10/04/2024 08:06

@Sophie3003 yes anxiety is a bugger isn't it? I jumped over a puddle the other day and then panicked all evening that I had 'jarred' baby and that's why she felt like she was moving less. It's so hard to keep invasive and usually irrational thoughts in check, I try to calm myself and use distraction techniques to try to move my focus away from whatever irrational thought I'm having at the time. I find getting out for a walk with headphones on helps as well.

AnonymousXXIX · 10/04/2024 08:22

I just take one magnesium tablet from Boots before going to sleep, and that helps keep the worst cramps at bay.

Last night was the first time I was really uncomfortable though, ughh. Agonising back pain after doing the dishes, and then just could not get comfortable in bed for 1-2 hours. The baby was kicking right down in my pelvis, and then sort of rolled and stretched in a super awkward position that just... really hurt. Could only lay on my right side, otherwise the bump did not feel 'right', but even that was not great. I'm only 25 weeks, this isn't meant to start already! I have no memory of this from my last pregnancy...

CB2805 · 10/04/2024 10:00

Speaking of anxiety ladies! I’m in this club too my whole pregnancy, I think I had only couple of weeks that I could actually enjoy this pregnancy and stop panicking and felt so relieved but it came back😞

how are everyones movement? I’m expecting twins so not quite sure what to expect, but I had a stroll on internet and came across a few posts saying that you should feel 10 kicks per hour with a singleton. Well I can feel lots of movement but are not consistent, I can feel 100moves for 1 hour and then 1 hour with just 1-2 random kicks. Is that normal? Do you feel your baby move constantly?

Oatmilktea · 10/04/2024 10:04

@CB2805 sorry to hear you’re feeling so anxious! How many weeks are you? I’m 25 weeks and can usually feel baby move around 3 times a day, morning lunch time and night time. It definitely isn’t as much as 10 kicks per hour!

If you’re worried definitely speak to your midwife

OP posts:
Amberellaella · 10/04/2024 10:23

I’m the same @CB2805. I was chairing a seminar at work yesterday and baby was having a karate party the entire time so I couldn’t concentrate, but he seems to be mostly asleep now!

The advice is to learn ‘what is normal for your baby’. Though I appreciate this is horrible advice as is totally subjective.

My pregnancy with DD was totally different in that she didn’t move much at all. Was totally fine though.

If in doubt call the mw. I had to go in to be checked with DD as she hadn’t moved at all for a whole morning. They said they’d rather see 1000 women ‘just in case’ than miss 1 where something was actually wrong x
