Hi ladies, im also predicted a decent size baby! Was measuring 6lb 1oz at 35 weeks. Have been told i can have a sweep from 38 weeks, fingers crossed!

Cheetocat · 26/01/2024 13:23

@xTinkerbell So exciting! That's very soon!

anony1111 · 26/01/2024 13:41

I had my growth scan this morning and baby is estimated to be 6lb8oz at 35+ 4 so looks like I'll have another little chunk on my hands 🤣
Everything is looking good though so I finally feel less anxious about the reduce movements I had.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 is this your first baby? My first was 9lbs 14oz and no one batted an eyelid other than me 😂

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 26/01/2024 13:52

@LavenderSweetPea sorry I didn't update regarding my wax but my gosh I'm not going to lie, it hurt!!! But I got through it 💪 suppose I didn't have a choice once she started though 😂 because she did ask me halfway through if I wanted her to just stop lol. Im really happy with the results nearly a week later and still no regrowth as of yet so hoping baby makes an appearance soon lol x

LavenderSweetPea · 26/01/2024 14:08

Ah @MummyTo4BoysXXXX you hero, glad to hear it was worth it! Also you say you had no choice to continue but I know someone who bailed after only one side was done 😂😂

novamama · 26/01/2024 16:08

Ladies, I know some of you mentioned you've experienced cramps: but, how long did they last for?

I've been cramping for almost 3 hours. Feels like start of period. No contractions. No lost mucus plug. No bleeding. No change in discharge. Baby moving normally. I'll call midwives anyways but was wondering what you've experienced?

Thank you!

novamama · 26/01/2024 16:32

Update from midwives; they said to rest well and take paracetamol for the pain. It can be the body practicing or it can be early labour. Toss of the coin! 🤣 I hope baby waits a couple of weeks more.. I've got so much for left to do 🙈

novamama · 26/01/2024 16:45
  • so much work left to do...
RachLeeds · 26/01/2024 16:50

@novamama I’ve had the period type cramps for the last few days. They usually wear off after a couple of hours. I was starting to worry this afternoon it might actually be the start of labour and went and cleaned my car/filled up with petrol and got my bf to put the Isofix in 🤣 but they have stopped now. Also, If I walk a lot (by a lot, I mean anything over 30 mins) I’ll get braxton hicks too but they go when I rest as well.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 26/01/2024 17:17

Paracetamol is my best friend this week. If I don't take it every 4 hours the cramping is back 🙈

Mismatc · 26/01/2024 17:24

Paracetamol is absolutely safe and often recommended but there are some emerging theories around how it may inhibit prostaglandins and slow things down in early labour. Have a google if you’re interested 😊

novamama · 26/01/2024 17:40

Thanks ladies! Reassuring to hear. Paracetamol it is then, I don't want baby to come right now 😆😆😆 it's the first time I'm experiencing period-like cramps though.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 26/01/2024 17:56

It's so strange to say "2 & a half weeks" when people ask how long left.

novamama · 26/01/2024 17:59

@CheeseAndCrackersx I felt the very same today when 2 people at work asked me "weren't you supposed to give birth today!?" And I literally said mmm no, I have 2 and a half weeks left, sorry. lol!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 26/01/2024 19:23

@anony1111 9lb 14 😱 how was the birth? Wow so you just have big babies!

This is my second, first was induced at 37 weeks so was a tiny 7 lbs. I don't know how i
I'd get potentially another 2.5 lbs out

anony1111 · 26/01/2024 20:11

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 unfortunately 🫣 to be honest the birth wasn't that bad, I did have the epidural though! I ended up having an episiotomy but other than that all was ok with me and baby.

Apparently birth gets easier after you have done it once 👀 or so people keep telling me!

Honestly it is amazing what the body can do and I'm sure everything will be fine, try not to worry too much

user2489 · 26/01/2024 20:40

Hi everyone! I had an inconclusive water break (they can't tell if it's just the mucus plug or actually waters breaking) so they have me on 24h watch and I will know more tomorrow when I go to the hospital again. I might be induced if it turns it was indeed my waters breaking. I started to also have period like cramping so I am hoping that I am heading towards labour, and to avoid induction. Fingers crossed!

Has anyone had a strange situation like this in previous pregnancies maybe?

miniworry · 26/01/2024 21:19

Hello ladies,

It's amazing that people are starting to have their feb babies already!!

Just wondering if anyone has been having extra scans for growth because of limited growth?

Despite the midwife measuring my bump on the 90th and 95th centile, my growth scan between 28 and 32 weeks showed he had dropped from the 35th to 16th centile. I've got another growth scan on Monday and I'll be 35+4 then so consultant said depending on the scan results we will discuss the next plan.

I had a Doppler scan this Monday in the meantime and blood flow to the cord was fine but they said I had mild polyhydramnios where deepest pool measured 8.3 and it's meant to be less than 8. Normally this is associated with a big baby or GD but I've had a gtt test which was fine and growth scans obviously show he isn't big so now I'm worried out my mind it may mean something genetic is the reason 😫

My first was 9ld 3oz so I never had any of this worry!

Mangotango39 · 26/01/2024 22:13

Everyone mentioning there big babies but they sound tiny to mine LOL 7 pounds at 35 weeks !

They come out at 38+3 so I am looking at over 9 pounds arnt I?! Eeekk
Glad I didn't buy much newborn as I always had a feeling about this , lucky to get a few days wear out of them HAHA!

I hope they have the cute leg rolls though, too sweet!

redxlondon · 26/01/2024 22:36

Sorry but this is not okay. If this is genuine please speak to your course director to ask for their support or provide feedback on how they’ve set this up. They should be facilitating this. There are so many safe guarding issues and questions I have on an internet forum being used for this.

miniworry · 26/01/2024 22:47

@redxlondon I thought this! I'm a teacher and would never ever expect this to be part of research I was asked to do. It should be up to your provider to sort out your properly nursery placements!

mollybbb · 26/01/2024 23:24

Any recommendations for the best baby bouncers and play mats to get for newborn. Looking for something not too expensive but good quality

anony1111 · 26/01/2024 23:33

@Mangotango39 oh wow, it's looking like your defo in for a chunky baby! I guess we have to take the estimates with a pinch of salt as they aren't 100% accurate. I haven't even bought any newborn this time round 🤣

Cheetocat · 27/01/2024 00:50

@mollybbb We've been thinking of getting the litter grey play mat from IKEA for tummy time. It's really cute and affordable. Not sure about bouncers, I'm so nervous about his little head tipping forward if he's sat too far up. I wish I could see the angle of them all with a baby in them before buying. 🤣

undercoverhero74 · 27/01/2024 06:01

@miniworry I'm going through exactly the same in regards to growth. Fundal measurements were putting me at the 50th percentile but I had growth scans booked in for Low PAPP A. First scan showed baby at the 9th percentile at 32 weeks and then only on the 4th percentile at 34 weeks. I have been told that I will be induced at 39 weeks latest however this may be bought forward if she has dropped any lower by my next scan on Wednesday. I'm so nervous about it all. The EFW at my last scan was 4lb 10oz so not tiny but as the growth charts are now personalised they would have expected her to be a lot bigger by now.
Although small the sonographer said she looks perfectly happy and content and the cord etc are working as they should which was reassuring. I'm hoping all is well and I just make smaller babies (my first was a healthy 7lb 8oz).
Try not to worry but I know exactly how hard that is.
