I was told this last week when I was 36 weeks so maybe just too early to be told. They do leave this quite late! Hope you get on ok with community midwife @Mummapenguin20 and all is well

Mummapenguin20 · 25/01/2024 19:05

@amyg1985 thank you. X

Sunshineclouds11 · 25/01/2024 19:12

I'm getting pains every so often more on right hand side.
Shooting pain, dies off and then feels like a stitch and so on.

Is this early signs of labour?

I was induced with my first and put on drip so all happened pretty quick for him

mollybbb · 25/01/2024 20:11

Currently 36+6 and just wondering if anyone has noticed movements slowing down/lessening. Had a scan yesterday and baby was fine but was on 13th centile and only weighing around 5.5 pounds. Don't want to ring triage as I only had a scan yesterday and sure baby was fine but just wondering if people have been feeling the same baby seems less active?

Mangotango39 · 25/01/2024 20:29

@mollybbb always get checked if your worried - even if youv been in that day . They honestly do not mind and would rather you did so. Atleast then you will be sure and can monitor the new pattern.

I am 37w and feel like movements are increased since they are bigger although this is a predicted big baby (likely to be an 9 pounder when born in 10days) and I have a small bump so likely not much room !!

CharXo · 25/01/2024 20:45

@Mummapenguin20 I am also diet controlled and been told exactly the same as @amyg1985 yesterday when I met with the diabetes team 😃 obstetrician said as I’m booked for C section it shouldn’t hopefully affect us staying in longer as I’m told I’ll be in 24-48 hours anyway 😀

amyg1985 · 25/01/2024 20:48

I'd give triage a ring @mollybbb - my movements haven't slowed and my friends' experience suggests they absolutely want to know about this, even though it is almost always fine.

Mummapenguin20 · 25/01/2024 21:10

@CharXo hope so I thought it was 4 days I don’t even know why I thought that. This is baby 4 and I know I will want to get home to all the kids asap x

anony1111 · 25/01/2024 21:10

@mollybbb I've had this over the last week, I have called maternity assessment each time and gone in to be checked, I was there again today. You're always best to be checked even if everything was ok on the scan. The midwives won't mind at all and would much rather check you and baby over than something terrible happen

LavenderSweetPea · 25/01/2024 21:11

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX how did your wax go?

Clueless13 · 25/01/2024 21:12

@mollybbb I’m the same, 36+6 today and really feel like movements have slowed today. My stomach feels very tight today too, I’ve got a community midwife appt in the morning so trying not to worry too much until then and see what she says

redxlondon · 25/01/2024 21:30

When you say movements have slowed, do you mean less number of movements or less strong? I think there’s a big difference. As they run out of space the movements do feel different, I’m finding. I’ve been worrying a bit today but counting the movements and they are still very frequent just feel different. Every 2-3 weeks I’ve found they feel different.

KayakingBex · 25/01/2024 23:04

@mollybbb - I would echo everyone else, give your midwife a call - most will happily check you and if nothings wrong you’ll feel less stressed. If there is something wrong then they can deal with it.

I’ll add that my wee one does have quiet days and busy days but if I’ve felt less than usual for awhile I’ve gone and got checked. He had a quiet day yesterday so I spent a lot of time today using my kick counting app to check how regular movement was. if he had been quiet during today I’d definitely have been giving the midwife a call thankfully lots of movement today.

Hankthehonk · 25/01/2024 23:34

@babythreeincoming glad your blood pressure is OK but sorry he's still breech!
Sometimes I think my boy has turned, then I'm unsure again- you'd think it would be easier to tell. Roll on Monday indeed to find out. I'm 36w tomorrow

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 26/01/2024 09:36

37+5 and edging up towards 8lb EFW. Feeling a bit worried, that's 3 weeks ahead on the abdomen measurement, big head centile, and large baby. If she keeps growing at this weight she'll be huge at term. They've signed me off now as low risk so that was my last scan and they won't be considering an induction apparently until 40+5 as no other issues

babythreeincoming · 26/01/2024 09:49

@Hankthehonk Will be thinking of you! Get scrubbing the floors on all fours haha 😂

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I feel your pain - my baby was predicted 7lb 5oz at 35 weeks 🙈 I recon it's fairly accurate as well as both my boys were big!

RachLeeds · 26/01/2024 09:54

Has anybody else not had any extra NHS scans? I am debating paying privately for a growth/presentation scan, just for reassurance really. My friend had a breech baby and it was never picked up by the midwives.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 If you haven’t had your 38 midwife appointment, maybe ask for an earlier sweep? Or you could just ring up and ask. I know two women who recently had sweeps done at 39+3 and 40+0, think it depends on your area though x

babythreeincoming · 26/01/2024 09:59

@RachLeeds With my first two I never had any extra NHS scans. Only reason I've had them with this baby was being picked up as breech by the midwife when measuring bump and then hearing a lot of "swooshing noises" on the CTG at the hospital.

Private scans can be off... I was told my baby was head down by a private Sonographer when they weren't 🤦🏼‍♀️ It depends where you go I guess!

Havanalily1806 · 26/01/2024 10:02

@RachLeeds I haven't had any extra scans, last one was 20 weeks.

Earlier on I did have differing opinions from midwife at hospital for reduced movements compared to my midwife appointments, however baby has as far as I'm aware been head down for a while, and when my midwife describes where everything is, bum, feet, etc it definitely matches up to the movements I feel so I'm not too concerned that it's wrong.

I would love a scan to know what weight I'm dealing with though, but know they aren't that accurate anyway. Midwife said I'm looking at around a 7lb baby which relaxed me a little, although I know again this can't be that accurate 😅

Kelb79 · 26/01/2024 10:03

@babythreeincoming and @Hankthehonk good luck turning those babies! Have you done the exercises on the spinning babies website? I think that’s what helped me, lifts baby back out if your pelvis if they’ve gone down the wrong way and gives them a chance to turn 👌🏼👍🏼

@RachLeeds if you’re concerned I’d say do it. My midwife is great but she told me at two appointments that baby had turned only fur me to find out afterwards they were still breech, nothing at all against my midwife, I just thing it’s sometimes really hard to tell!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’ve just been predicted an 8 1/2 pounder!! 😫😫 they’re 6lb 8oz already at 36 weeks!! Eeeek!! Definitely considering elective all of a sudden 🫣🫣 really hoping they come early now 🙏🏼🙏🏼

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 26/01/2024 10:16

Thanks ladies I think I will ask for an early sweep. Sorry I meant she was almost 8lb EFW now so they're saying 9.5 lb possibly on her growth trajectory if she goes to term or beyond. Which according to the midwife today isn't that big 😬 poor vagina.

Because I have growth scans I don't have community midwife anymore, but I will phone her to ask about a sweep.

@RachLeeds and @Havanalily1806 I would get a private scan definitely, but at a reputable place or one where they have nhs trained sonographers. I've had a few this pregnancy and last and they've been really accurate

RachLeeds · 26/01/2024 10:19

Thanks ladies! I feel like the movements do tally up with what the midwives say, kicks at the top etc so I’m thinking I will just leave it.

@babythreeincoming that’s a good point. I suppose it’s just how good/qualified the sonography is on the day. I had a gender scan at 16 weeks and the sonography seemed to know what he was doing. I was told I had an anterior placenta etc and he checked for fibroids that had been noted at my 12 week NHS scan. He told me there wasn’t any fibroids so I was thinking how can they just disappear but apparently they did/or shrank because they had a good look at NHS 20 weeks scan and they couldn’t find any either! 🤣

RachLeeds · 26/01/2024 10:30

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Good luck! NICE guidelines say sweep can be offered after 39 weeks for uncomplicated pregnancies.

redxlondon · 26/01/2024 11:31

My weight gain has been pretty steady but I’ve put on two pounds in the last week, just got to week 37. How much weight have you gained between 36/37 weeks or during third trimester? I’ve had such a sweet tooth lately, I think I need to curb it 🥺

xTinkerbell · 26/01/2024 12:44

Section date has been brought forward by a day so less than a week till I’ll have a baby!
