@Shrillwaffle goodluck to you hope everything goes well for both you & baby 💕 can't wait to see your update will be on the look-out 😊

On another note ladies just had my midwife appointment (37+2) and she is 1/5 engaged, what does this mean ladies will labour be soon? I kind of expect her to not be in too long as with my last 2 sons only got to 37+5 with them both 😬 its my birthday on the 4th February so was hoping to have her then 🤞🤣 due date is 12th February and to be honest I definaly know I won't make it that far! Can't believe its nearing the end for all of us feels so strange! x

anony1111 · 24/01/2024 15:50

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX as far as I'm aware that means baby's head is deeply engaged into the pelvis, as for when labour will start I think it can still vary massively but seen as though you've had 4 babies before it could be very soon!!

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 24/01/2024 15:59

@anony1111 thanks hun 😊 she did say when I asked about it more that 4/5 of her are still outside my pelvis 🤷‍♀️ so god knows wish I was a midwife 🤣

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I've been 1/5 engaged for the last 3-4 weeks 😩 don't know if I am still engaged as no one has told me since, but for me it's just meant I waddle and have had no other signs of labour

anony1111 · 24/01/2024 16:34

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX how confusing, this is what it says on the NTC website which is the opposite of what your midwife is saying..
How confusing is it all 😂

It means most of the head is not in the pelvis yet — 1/5 in the pelvis, 4/5 outside the pelvis. This is far more relevant for your first baby. If you’ve had a few births, your baby might not be engaged until labour starts so I wouldn’t think too much into it 🙂

Mismatc · 24/01/2024 16:39

@anony1111 Really confusingly there are two measurements! How many 5ths are palpable (can be felt and therefore not engaged in the pelvis) and how many 5ths are engaged (cannot be felt and therefore are in the pelvis). This chart is talking about 5ths palpable

I wish I was getting that feeling @CheeseAndCrackersx ! I'm 38 weeks today and feel so ready, every inch of the house has been cleaned, bags packed, nursery ready and baby super low down. What signs are you getting, maybe I'm just missing them but I don't feel much going on?!

I’m getting period type cramps and so much pressure down there now. I’m 37+2. Think I have dropped even more too and feel like I need a wee constantly. I don’t actually want to go into labour yet because I’m not ready. I wish I was an organised as you! 😂

Nemo145 · 24/01/2024 16:51

Hi ladies, I had my little one yesterday @ 37+2, via planned section.
Ethan Christopher, 6lb. Needed a bit of help breathing which isn’t unusual for a baby born by section at 37 weeks. He’s doing great though after a little bit of help initially.

RachLeeds · 24/01/2024 16:55

@Nemo145 lovely news! Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy 💙
