Hello everyone just found out today I’m pregnant after 17 long cycles of trying. I’m 4 weeks and already so nauseous.

@HoneyandSunshine unless your midwife or doctor tells you otherwise I think you're fine with those vitamins. I'm on higher dose folic acid because of my BMI. Been on this whilst TTC as I discussed it with my gp xxx

HoneyandSunshine · 13/01/2024 12:50

Oh ok. Thank you @Nic17 ❤️ I’m meeting them next Monday so will see what they say! I was high bmi for my last pregnancy, I wonder what they’ll say when I hop on the scales this time. I’m definitely heavier 😩

Lemonyfire · 13/01/2024 13:15

@HoneyandSunshine I’m only taking pregnacare! I end up with very yellow wee and apparently my body is filtering out the excess which is why it’s so yellow 😂 ( my midwife friend)
I think if I need extra of anything it will be iron but just waiting to hear on bloods

Im quite crampy while waiting in hospital and VERY tense so I think that’s why so trying to relax as that’s not even why I’m here! In this think it’s bringing flashbacks of hospital when I had my miscarriage and when I bled in other pregnancies , just hours waiting and being anxious.
I’m tempted to book an early scan this weekend for peace of mind. I’m only 6+2 so won’t see much but happy to pay for the reassurance.

Lemonyfire · 13/01/2024 13:16

@HoneyandSunshine I had a higher BMI for my previous pregnancies and it’s around the same now so I’m dreading that booking in appt!

MudandMoet · 13/01/2024 13:54

@cd24x thanks for that, it just seems crackers that I was taking the 400mg dose as normal then after that MW appt on Wednesday I should effectively be taking 12 of them to be on the right scale. Seems a big big jump, I wonder why not just say double up or similar. I'll get the 5mg dose later because it definitely doesn't seem right chugging 12 of the ones I have down 🤦🏼‍♀️. I would think that extra bit of 400 in your pregnancy vitamin wouldn't make a big impact as it's really just 0.4g but maybe worth a pop to the chemist or call to the MW to check xx

@emmatcc1 thanks, I at least need to double up then for now as the 400mg is nowhere near enough.

Hi @Hlymamma welcome to the group! Congratulations!

Hey @WolfMother326 how's things? Did the flight all go okay?

@SouthwestSis fingers crossed you get the 3+ on your digital tomorrow

@Lemonyfire hope you're all okay and home soon - it's nice to hear they're lovely and kind to you.

@HoneyandSunshine I didn't take extra folic acid when I was on the pregnacare up until recently but going on what MW and others have said since I think it's a possibility so definitely check - it's a bloody minefield this vitamins job 🤦🏼‍♀️

Xur · 13/01/2024 14:37

Thank you all! My flight got delayed by an hour but arrived 30 minutes early into destination, so it was ok. Had a light sway sickness at the beginning, but it calmed once we were on level. I’m mega tired since been up since midnight. Have some ongoing light nausea going all day long now but it’s not too much to handle. I hope everyone is keeping well today.

Lemonyfire · 13/01/2024 14:39

Eek I will have to check the vitamins I’m taking! Just bought a generic box 😂
I’ve been discharged- I was right, it’s because I’ve been put on way too high a dose of thyroid meds, have to drop down now, so reassured!

WolfMother326 · 13/01/2024 14:47

@MudandMoet we've arrived in America but the flight and jet lag have been utterly hellish with a 2 year old! I highly recommend it if you need a way to distract yourself from worrying about early pregnancy, as it's been total chaos 😅

doitjustice95 · 13/01/2024 15:12

Hi all,

Just a little update from me,

The dreadful back ache has subsided and the cramps are much less, only tends to happen when in bed laying on one side but other than that I am free of the aches and pains!!

(TMI) but does anyone have any solutions for the increased wind that you pass during this time?

I’ve read up on it and found it is to do with the progesterone hormone being released which relaxes the muscles in the bowel but my god I honestly feel so embarrassed at times with the amount of flatulence and how uncontrollable it is. Any solutions? Xx

Also seeing as though things are progressing I think I’ll be taking a test next week to confirm if I’ve increased to the 3+ week mark on clear blue tests, hoping for a good outcome.

mumto5anotheronway · 13/01/2024 15:15

1111hope · 13/01/2024 16:04

Hi all due 7th sept, 6 weeks today & symptoms seem to be properly kicking in xxx

doitjustice95 · 13/01/2024 16:05

Hi @mumto5anotheronway !!

This is my first and so new to it all, just googling everything as I go.

I tested on the 8th January 2024 my pregnancy test line also came up really fast before the control line which I thought was normal but I’ve been doing more research and it is because the HCG level is really high (I’m so new to everything!)

The clear blue weeks test showed 2-3 weeks on 8th Jan meaning I should be due September 9th 2024. I’ll be testing sometime next week to check for a 3+ sign.

Congrats on your news!!

HoneyandSunshine · 13/01/2024 16:36

Thanks everyone! Super helpful as always 🩷

what’s the next step now then @Lemonyfire in terms of your meds? You get to drop the dose and hopefully feel better? 🤞🏻 are you going to book yourself a reassurance scan? I’m so tempted but really trying to save/pay off credit card debts 😩

@MudandMoet you’re totally right. What the efffff is good and bad these days 🥲🥲

@doitjustice95 no proper advice, just some solidarity as I had the worsttt trapped wind pain over Christmas, just after my positive. I read that knees to chest helps ease it out? But no actual preventative measures I’m afraid 🥺

also, don’t get me started on the higher BMI wah. It’s like, I had all this time to lose weight and tone up… why didn’t I do it. Because now I’m just going to get rounder and feel told off 🥲 although last pregnancy, it did have one positive. I was offered to be part of a research study so I got about 4 extra scans which was obviously a nice touch

HoneyandSunshine · 13/01/2024 16:38

Who’s going to be finding out what they’re having? 🤪

Our first was a surprise, our second a “secret surprise” (as in, only us two knew, and nobody knew that we knew) so I think this one we’ll keep a surprise again.

I have 2 boys, so I’m fairly confident this will also be a boy. Which I would absolutely not be disappointed with 🥹

MrsB2019x · 13/01/2024 16:42

@HoneyandSunshine We’ll be finding out, we paid for a 16 week scan with DD to find out but not sure I can afford that again this time 😂 if nothing else it will be nice to know whether we can reuse her clothes or whether I can sort through them and put it on Vinted if it’s a boy!

Lemonyfire · 13/01/2024 16:55

So I made an impulsive decision today and had an early scan and now really regret it as either my dates are off or it’s not good news😫
she said I’m not 6+2 like I thought, and more like 5, which has really stressed me out. She confirmed the pregnancy and that it’s in the right place but only saw the yolk sac, has anyone had this?

SouthwestSis · 13/01/2024 17:04

It's not too late @HoneyandSunshine
I'm trying to do something towards toning every other day, even if it's just a 10 minute YouTube video it's better than nothing. I've managed to make it to 1 in person pilates class since I found out, am just using it as a massive excuse to prioritise more me time each week!
My other top tip is porridge for breakfast, fills you up so prevents mid morning snacking, can prep the night before, and it's got a good fibre content for us struggling in the bowels department!

We will be finding out as we took ages picking a name for our son so the sooner we find out the better!

@Lemonyfire it's so so common that pregnancies don't line up with the dates you expect. There's good news to hold on to, there is a pregnancy, it is in the right place.

HoneyandSunshine · 13/01/2024 17:43

Yeah, sometimes the “knowing” actually really helps in the long haul! @MrsB2019x and agreed, why do scans cost so much 😭

I had something similar with my second @Lemonyfire in 2021. I went for an early scan and they said I either was miscarrying or I was too early, as what they saw didn’t match my dates. They offered me to come back a few days later, or maybe even a week I can’t fully remember, to check again. Thankfully all was well. Have they offered you to come back in a week and see what’s going on? ❤️

and thank you @SouthwestSis yoire totally right, I shouldn’t make excuses 😩 I’ve got a gym membership I should be utilising, else I’m paying for nothing! With my second I did 75hard as my partner was doing it, and it was a slogggg, but for 75 days I managed to cut out processed sugar and only put on something like 2kg from booking apt to the day I went into labour. Which is great, but I still felt all blobby. If that makes sense? Because I started the pregnancy not being my ideal weight 😣 I’m just nit picking now though.

I’ve heard really good things about Pilates - do you find it good/worthwhile? Is it expensive where you are? X

Juno231 · 13/01/2024 17:53

@Lemonyfire at this stage all it takes is for then to measure a mm out and it messes up the dates so I wouldn't worry about it as long as there was a baby!

@HoneyandSunshine we'll be getting NIPT done at 10 weeks so should find out the sex a week after that! I'd be happy to keep it a surprise but that would drive OH crazy... Helps us cut down the name lists too!

MrsB2019x · 13/01/2024 18:08

@Lemonyfire Dates could well be a little bit off, I see it on here all the time. Good news that baby is in the right place though! Did they offer you to come back?

Lemonyfire · 13/01/2024 18:10

@HoneyandSunshine @Juno231 @MrsB2019x
thank you for the reassurance, I think my dates are probably off as I can have 33-37 day cycles ( last period 28/11) but I was so sure I ovulated on 15/12 and got my first faint bfp 26/12 so not sure how out it can be.
if I go back I have to pay again which I won’t do!
ill see how it goes , if I bleed/get pain ill get in touch with EPAU XX

siobhanmt247 · 13/01/2024 18:15

@Lemonyfire when i had a similar situation the epu offered to scan me after a week when I told them. Might be worth calling anyway?

Cat2022 · 13/01/2024 18:19

@HoneyandSunshine we have a girl and will be finding out. I sort of like the idea of a surprise but I also like shopping so liked knowing what to buy last time.
