Floss!/ Makecake. It is I! Really pleased to hear that all is well for you. 30 weeks!!!!
After the 7 cycles of clomid I had a lap and dye very quickly as my GP was wonderful and they called me at the last minute when they had a cancellation. That went fine and they found absolutely nothing wrong. Just kept at it and finally got a BFP a couple of weeks ago. Have been excited and scared and trying not to stress. MN is a big help- especially as everyone here understands the terror.

splishsplosh · 24/03/2008 17:10

Spugs congratulations and welcome to Ismay

Lulu welcome to the worriers thread

donbean Scully kate thinking of you

Popsy I'm just a few days ahead of you - I was 13 weeks yesterday. With dd I didn't show for ageas, but before I showed, when I was lying down I could feel a little bump. Not sure when that's going to happen. But I've felt a few little aches etc over the last few days so hopefully that's a good sign

EllieG · 24/03/2008 17:50

MrsMattie · 25/03/2008 18:12

Hello all. Well, after nearly a year of ttc a second child (DS is 3 yrs old) and a m/c in October at 7 weeks I have just got a faint but definite BFP this afternoon! I can barely believe it.I am so happy, but scared - very scared. I am flying long haul tomorrow and the last time I miscarried it started in the airport on the way back from holiday . Doctor said flying had nothing to do with the m/c whatsoever, but you know how you drive yourself mad with what-ifs after a m/c? Anyhooo....just wanted to say hello

lulu1414 · 25/03/2008 18:17

Welcome MrsMAttie and congratulations! I know too well about the madness inducing what ifs. I actually had a moment where I convinced myself a Subway sandwich had caused my miscarriage. Seriously!

KashaSarrasin · 25/03/2008 18:33

donbean I'm so sorry . I hope you're back here soon. My last m/c (diagnosed at 7+2) also had the sac visible but no baby, it really sucked.

MrsMattie Congratulations and welcome - you've found the right place for lots of support. May your stay here be long and uneventful .

kate How are you doing? I've been thinking of you and your family a lot over the weekend. xxx

MrsMattie · 25/03/2008 18:37

Can I ask the more experienced knicker-checkers among you for some advice, please? If you have had a previous m/c will the hospital give you an earlier scan, or do you still have to wait for the 12 week one? The thought of having to wait 3 months to see a bean on the screen is terrifying.

lulu1414 · 25/03/2008 18:43

My doctor said he would arrange an early scan- I said I wasn't sure of my dates as I had been irregular since lap and dye. My understanding is they will give you an early scan if you had a m/c before. Having said that I just got a letter through which says my scan is mid May!!! So I am now trying to get in touch with doctor to push this forward to next week. I agree- there is no way I can wait until 12 week scan as that is when I found out I had m/c. I would like some reassurance way before then otherwise I will go mad. I've convinced myself that my symptoms have completely diappeared, so I quietly freaking out now.

KashaSarrasin · 25/03/2008 18:43

I didn't get an early NHS scan even after 2 consecutive m/c (well, in the end I got two but only because I was bleeding - fortunately everything was OK both times). I cracked and went for a private scan at 7 weeks where we saw the heartbeat, it cost £70 but worth every penny.

splishsplosh · 25/03/2008 20:15

Donbean so sorry to hear your news, big hugs

mrsmattie - congratulations and hello. The scan situation seems to vary from place to place. I asked my GP for an early scan and she said she could ask, but no guarantees I would get one as would be a low priority, I did get one though.

Kate how are you? Have you heard from your consultant? Has he spoken to the Fetal Medicine centre like he said? Thinking of you

I can't stop eating rubbish. I vowed to start being healthier, but then Easter came along and scuppered my good intentions. Then I ended up in Tesco today picking up a few extra eggs because they were bargains . I'll be huge at this rate

lackaDAISYcal · 25/03/2008 20:19

donbean, I'm so sorry . hugs to you and hopefully we'll see you back here before too long.

Hi MrsMattie and welcome to the thread. I think it depends on your local trust really. We can self refer to the EPU here, but they don't routinely carry out re-assurance scans. Most women, myself included, who have had a bit of spotting tend to exaggerate how bad it is to get seen though .

lulu1414 · 25/03/2008 21:57

Just an update about early scans- the silly doctor called and tried to tell me just to wait until May. I explained that he had initially said I need an early scan and that is what I wanted. I now wish I had lied about my dates as it looks like I will have to wait. Argh! I'm going to try to convince the ultrasound department to give me an early scan... so I spoke to early.

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 05:33

Hi all, sorry but I am a bit of a lurker as I don't get much chance to write messages as should be working. I have a scan today with the EPU, I think I will be 7 weeks on Friday but not really sure of dates as have been all over the place since 4th mc in october last year. Some of you have posted about getting early scans via your doctor, I have been lucky and have, since 1st mc, contacted the EPU directly and they have fitted me in when bleeding or anxious. It seems strange to go to the epu today for a scan though as I have not bled (yet),I almost expect it to happen as it always has, even when I had my son 5 years ago I bled for a long time and had scans up to about 16 weeks - still wearing sanitary pads each day just in case! My appointment is at 10am and I don't know whether I am excited or scared wotsitless! Hence I am awake right now, I woke up after having some really vivid bad dreams. I hope to see something, but last year had a scan at 7 weeks and saw the hb then lost it the same day so I know it wont completely put my mind at ease but at least I will know if we are heading in the right direction or not! I have it in my mind that I will feel more relaxed after the 12 week scan which seems forever away! I am off today which is good as no-one at work knows I am pg again. Will check in later!

X Smiles

DonDons · 26/03/2008 08:20

good luck smiles - hope the scan goes well

welcome mrs mattie - like the previous ladies have said, it really depends on your trust - I was told in no uncertain terms that I had 'no chance' of an early scan due to previous mc - my 12 week scan was at 14+4 which caused me no end of anguish. (Un)fortunately I had a slight bleed at 11 weeks so got a referral to EPAU (had to go through GP for this - tried to self refer but they refused) and everything was fine - after that initial appointment they told me I could self refer for any future issues (luckily didn't need to).

The waiting is a killer but try and not get too despondent and take each day at a time - hopefully this pregnancy will be a long and uneventful one for you.

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 08:23

Thanks DonDons - just taken DS to nursery and now having a nice cup of tea, and watching the clock!

MrsMattie · 26/03/2008 10:01

Thanks DonDons - and all of you. It's really great to have so many people who know what I'm talking about and have been there at my fingertips! xxx

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 11:54

Phew! Back from the scan, saw the hb and little bean! Cannot get too excited as had same last year, trying to be positive though. Have joined the SPIN trial and am now a bona fide drug user! Heparin injections daily and baby aspirin - lets hope it all helps! Glad to be home, just fancy a real carb fest so have bought a pot noodle and plan on having pot noodle sandwiches - not a craving, just a treat!

Sorry to hear your news donbean. Look after yourself x

Welcome MrsMAttie - I got an early scan cos I rung up and paniced as was having abdominal pains (just stretchy stuff as turned out) and they scanned me. I think it very much depends on where you are - my hospial are fab for reassurance scans etc. Best of luck.

Great news smiles
