oh jules , that brings back memories of my pregnancy with DD. Towards the end I would take a daily waddle down the bakers, buy 4 doughnuts, and oh so generously save 1 for DP!!! I say go for it!! Krispy Kreme are the best quite jealous...

tryingnottoobsess · 19/05/2008 21:35

Hello ladyhelen, and all the best! Also welcome to Tilly, what a cute name

Had my scan today, and the sonographer was a bint, but the results look ok I think.

I'm 5+3 and she saw a 6mm gestational sac, plus a yolk sac on an abdominal scan.

Her opening words to me were "We don't scan this early. I won't see anything." So I asked why they'd accepted the referral from my GP in that case, and she said "We have to. But we're trying to get the protocol changed. We'll re-scan in 3 weeks, but don't come back unless you have a gush of red blood." And that was it, no internal scan or anything!

Bizarrely I wasn't that upset (I normally cry at anything!), after all what she saw looked as ok as possible at this stage. And it means that growth must have happened since I've been spotting, because I've been spotting for a week. I'm still spotting though, so 3 weeks is going to drag.

I understand that she might find it frustrating, but it wasn't my fault that I'd been referred too early, and it was really rude to take it out on me.

Sorry to go on a bit, but it has been a weird day.

rainrain · 20/05/2008 11:08

trying nice to know there are such sensitive people out there working in the clinics. Honestly.
Great news though for now. Take each day as it comes...

Sorry to hear about your bad experience Trying, it's horrible when people talk to you in that way. But, good news on the actual scan and I hope the next three weeks aren't too unbearable.

I'm trying not to give in to the doughnut urge now!

jennylindinha · 20/05/2008 18:04

Aha, just discovered some chocolate biscuits in my drawer - yippee!

poppy27 · 20/05/2008 18:51

Congratulations makecakes on your new baby.

trying so sorry to hear you were treated like that at your scan. It's so insensitive at such a scary and emotional time. Glad to hear everything is as it should be and hope your spotting stops soon.

becaroo · 20/05/2008 19:05

Hello.

Had my 20 weeks scan last week - I will be 23 weeks this week - so I finally feel able to join you!

We are having another boy - I have a ds who will be 5 next month and am very excited but also nervous/terrified something will go wrong.....I am still knicker checking even now!!!

Scully and donbean - so sorry to hear what you are going through

splishsplosh · 20/05/2008 20:12

Makecakes - congratulations, and welcome to Cecily

I had my scan today (21+2), and all seems fine, it kept yawning, or drinking, but kept its legs together, so don't know whether it's a he or she - the sonographer said she would guess a girl as at no time did she notice any dangly bits, but couldn't really tell

I'd add myself to the list at last, but it needs more updating as the twins have been born too, haven't they

tryingnottoobsess · 21/05/2008 09:49

morning! Congrats to Becaroo and Splishsplosh on the scans

I've stopped spotting! [touches wood, crosses fingers etc etc]

Not ready to add myself to the list yet... as if adding myself will affect the outcome. Weird the way our minds work, isn't it?!

ronshar · 21/05/2008 11:07

Wow another little girl to join the ranks. Makescakes How fantastic, Let us know all the details soon. I love a good birth story. They are all so different it makes it easier for us to relate to our own stories IYSWIM. Maybe I am just really nosey.

Scan at 12 today. Still trying to get DH to agree to finding out the sex. Not looking good! I may have to cry. He hates that. He will try anything to avoid the tears.

Hope everyone is well today.

ronshar · 21/05/2008 13:02

Back from scan. All fantastic. DH wouldnt give in so we still dont know the sex. I didnt cry, seemed pointless.
The sonographer was fab, he was the same one who did my 8 week scan. He turned the screen away at the beginning just in case but as soon as he saw little baby walking around he smiled and turned screen back to us again.
My EDD is def 6th October. Same as Bethoo. Cool.
