Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

Lovely to see you all so organised!
I still haven't decided when to take my leave.
Due a growth scan next week and consultant appointment so hoping I'll have some more indication on what to do. They seem to think I'll be induced 38/39 weeks but not 100% sure.
I had my GTT re looked at and they have referred me to the diabetic nurse. I had it first time and was shocked they said it was negative last week!
I still feel like I'm in utter limbo.
They are working in a due date as 20th June but they did say because I was a late booker at around 27 weeks they said my DD could be 12/15 days either side!
Feeling touch nervous and wish I just had an end date! 🥱🥱

oop · 16/04/2024 15:58

I'm due at the very end of May so starting leave at 37 weeks on 9th may (2 weeks annual leave before starting mat leave on the day before my due date).
I went to 38 weeks last time but my due date just happened to fall on a Thursday this time and I didn't fancy ending work mid way through a week so starting a few days earlier this time. I think I'll need it though tbh as I'll have my toddler some of those days and i won't actually have that much uninterrupted time to get stuff ready and relax.

Can't believe I only have 3 weeks of work left it's genuinely gone so fast since my 12 week scan!

Interesting to hear everyone’s thoughts & plans!
I’m 30 weeks and planning on starting leave from 36 weeks, my first child came early at 38+5 so hoping to get some time to rest and enjoy 121 with my toddler in case this baby comes early too! First birth was traumatic for me so I’m leaning towards an ELCS for second delivery, I know they say the 2nd baby comes easier & quicker but I don’t think I want to take any chances and feel more at ease knowing what’s happening & when. Consultant apt booked for 22nd May, due date is 20th June 🤗 can’t believe how time is flying! Starting to feel exhausted and a lot of PGP/Sciatica hip pain now but also feel the need to nest & pack my hospital bag….

glasshalffull0 · 16/04/2024 17:55

My first baby, due 30th June and I'm planning on going on mat leave from 38+5 although I'm not sure if I'm being overly ambitious with that!

Been referred to the physio for mild PGP but it seems to be getting worse with every passing week and I'm already finding it difficult to do some things like moving in bed, tying shoe laces etc.

Hoping for a water birth but I'm not really fussed either way, whatever happens, happens!

I had planned to start mat leave only at 39 weeks, start leave 10 June and due date 16 June, this was because my first was 2 weeks late and I don’t have to commute. That was the plan anyway. Now I’m having second thoughts and actually think I was overly ambitious as I’ve been really exhausted especially over the last week or so. Also as I’ve been diagnosed with GD I think it’s likely they’ll recommend early induction, but not sure how early. I’ve told work I’ll confirm latest when I have my last growth scan at 36 weeks, I think this is when they will decide on the induction. I’m 31+2 today and have the second growth scan next week. On my first growth scan baby was measuring big but evenly so but my GD was diet controlled, since then I’ve had to start on metformin so I’m hoping baby is still growing along the same percentile.

Today I’ve felt slightly strange, not quite sure what it is but quite uncomfortable and feeling pressure on the bump. Not sure if that’s normal but also had awful day at work and I’m still getting used to metformin. Baby is kicking away so I didn’t call triage, I’m not in pain, maybe just a symptom I just don’t remember from my first baby. So many things to worry about! I really hope the next weeks would fly by. On a positive note, I’ve started to get organised with baby clothes etc.

Just a wee update…I should maybe switch to the due April thread. 🤣 our little boy was born quite dramatically last week at 31+2. 3.3kg of absolute perfection, he came out fighting and hadn’t stopped for breathe since. He’s absolutely amazing me with his strength every day and is already out of NICU and into HDU.

Although our pregnancy journey came to an abrupt end it’s only the start of whole new adventure and we are so so lucky to have our amazing son safely here and being looked after by a fabulous team of doctors, nurses and health care workers.

My advice to all you mamas is listen to your bodies. Please don’t struggle on. If you can then take the sick leave, put your feet up! You never know what’s just around the corner and I wish now I hadn’t pushed myself so hard to keep going when my body was struggling. You get no thanks for being a Martyr…maybe just an undiagnosed case of pre eclampsia and popped waters 🤣🤣

Sending lots of 4am love to my June gang. You’ve got this mama!

Hotmalibu94 · 17/04/2024 05:18

Huge congratulation @Couggstar123 and so exciting that we are starting to have some baby arrivals in our June group🥳 wishing all the best of luck to your little one and hope you get to go home very soon xx

I am 33 weeks today and planning on stopping at 36 weeks with a planned c section at 39 weeks. This is my second one and first baby was an EMCS.

I was measuring behind on my 28 week midwife appointment so she send me for a growth scan. First scan showed baby was a week behind for all measurements but they said it’s normal, however will schedule another scan just to be on the safe side. Well, the scan they did this week shows the head and tummy are spot on but the femur is over 4 weeks behind now and hasn’t grown since previous growth scan, so little boy has dropped off the chart completely for femur and is overall 15 centile now (compared to 40 centile last month). I have another scan at 36 weeks along with a consultant appointment and it looks likely they will diagnose with iugr and might bring my c section forward. Didn’t expect it to be honest as my DD was always at the top of the chart during my first pregnancy so this has come a bit as a shock-I know that measurements can be out but not sure they can be that much out and the sonographer did scan me for a very long time. Placenta and waters looking good but need to monitor movements (i.e stress about them even more than I already do😂) and go in if anything changes. Hope he manages to catch up a bit but happy to have an earlier section if needed.

Suchardchoccy · 17/04/2024 15:18

I had a 31 week midwife appointment today. I've got my 34 week home birth assessment on 11th may!

MrsTrue · 17/04/2024 15:39

Been for a 'swim' this morning and can wholeheartedly recommend it!!

I actually spent about 20minutes doing yoga poses and stretching out my hips, stomach muscles, legs, etc. Must have looked like a bit of a weirdo, but I feel so much better and the aches have eased so, so much! Also noticed my belly button snuck back into position while in the water rather than sticking out rudely for everyone to see, so my stomach muscles must have appreciated the rest too!

Still planning to have 7 weeks of work left, which feels like forever, but I'm using holiday to reduce my days so I may start counting in days rather than weeks to make me feel better about it!!!

Also congratulations @Couggstar123 🎉and well done for getting him here safely!!!

Wheeeeee · 17/04/2024 16:59

Wow @Couggstar123, congratulations! That must have been quite scary but it's brilliant to hear he's doing so well - what a champ 💪🏻

Couggstar123 · 17/04/2024 18:10

Thank you all!! I just re-read my post…3.3kg was extremely ambitious. He was 3.3lb! Baby brain is real! 🤣

Suchardchoccy · 17/04/2024 19:13

I was going to say mine were both 3.5kg and 3.35kg born at 40 weeks 🤔🤣 well done!!

Goldie1234 · 17/04/2024 22:56

Huge congratulations @Couggstar123 !! And amazing he's moved to HDU, what a champ ! Hope you're all doing as best as can be !! X

Goldie1234 · 17/04/2024 23:00

@PurpleIsTheColour I've been induced early twice for reduced growth (and fluid and movement), it just gets to a stage when they're better out than in. I had a growth scan booked in for 37 weeks with my little girl after which they told me I wouldn't be going home and that they'd induce that day ! I was totally shocked ! Luckily they let me go home and get my hospital bag 😅 similar happened with my little boy.. so maybe just start prepping your hospital bag just in case !! Hope you can keep busy and not worry too much, i find having to keep ontop of kick counts a lot of responsibility!! X

Elmlee · 17/04/2024 23:04

I went today for my 2nd growth scan.
Baby has dropped under 10th now.
I have had some episodes of reduced movements so they are pushing for monitoring every week and fluid and cord scans.. growth scans every 2 weeks.
Growth is classed as slow.
Was at hospital 4 hours this evening and then been in mon, tues, wed... there tomorrow morning and then Sunday for more monitoring.
I'm exhausted with it all and still got weeks in work to balance! Xx

Elmlee · 18/04/2024 06:50

Congratulations @Couggstar123 how lovely he is here safe.
3Ibs 3oz.. so dinky my little girl at 5 ibs 6 oz st 37+4 when she was born and I thought that was dinky!

MizzMarple · 18/04/2024 09:26

Congratulations @Couggstar123! It sounds like he’s doing fantastically after a stressful start.

Good luck for those needing extra monitoring. I’ve got a scan at 34 weeks and if that’s all ok I’ll have my c section booked for 39 weeks. Feel like the end is kind of in sight now.

MsNeis · 18/04/2024 14:30

Congratulations @Couggstar123 ! 💐Best of wishes for your little one, you and your family! 🙏💚

NorthernDaisy · 19/04/2024 12:09

Congratulations @Couggstar123! Hope he is soon able to come home👶🤱

Does anyone have experience of pregnancy anaemia? I've been feeling shattered and headachey since Easter and did a home iron test today and it indicates I am anaemic. Hoping to get a GP appt this afternoon but just wondering how long it would take for iron tablets to kick in and for some energy to return....there's a lot to do! Thank you x

MizzMarple · 19/04/2024 17:09

I’m anaemic too and have been since the beginning. Have been on iron tablets for ages but they haven’t raised it much. I’m shattered and quite dizzy. I probably need an iron infusion but it’s taking ages to get it agreed.

On a different topic, does anyone find now they’re visibly pregnant random people (men) have started making stupid comments to them? A man told me I should be resting and not walking up a hill today. I’ll just not pick my son up from school then shall I?
