just that really . Partner is in a custody battle and socials are involved with him and his kids mum. I just found out I’m pregnant again (first with my current partner , I have one from previous relationship) no socials were involved with me, but because they’re involved with his other kids will socials be involved with this new baby ?

Are you prepared to look after four children, two of them babies of almost the same age?
Because that's what's on the cards here.

No it isn't. What is on the cards is an absent father. If he was ever going to be there for his existing kids he would have done it by now

OP just be honest with the social workers, I'm sure they will have come across this situation before and their aim is to ensure all these children have their needs met.
I know very few people who could manage the high level of care that will be required for 2 small babies as well as 2 (possibly) traumatised older children so don't be ashamed if you don't think you would cope.
The SW will want to help you be aware of these serious responsibilities before you get overwhelmed and contribute to the unmet needs.

As a previous poster pointed out, I was rude to say 'ffs' in my first post. I used to work in CS and I'm so very acutely aware that children can still end up badly hurt by well-meaning parents who bite off more than they can reasonably chew.

The role he seems to be grooming you for is a huge job and you would be far better to consider the difficulties before being pushed into a lifetime of it.

I'd stay put with your mum until your DP has resolved the issues around his older childrens needs without requiring much input from someone with 2 small needy babies.
I know this level of responsibility is way out of my league, and I worked with children and families all my life.

God!
If I were you I would have an abortion and never see this bloke again.

At my booking in appointment for my current pregnancy, they asked if either DH or I have social services involvement. You haven’t said where you are but I imagine they will definitely want to know about the new baby when they’re involved with his other children. Plus, if the ex is ‘throwing around accusations’, they are definitely investigating him too.

sandletown · 27/11/2023 18:21

Goodness me. Just as well your mum is supportive

ThankYoufortheDay · 27/11/2023 18:23

Does the guy know you are pregnant yet? What about your mum? What do they think?

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 27/11/2023 14:39

Really?

The OP’s sex life is none of your business. Accidental pregnancies happen across the board and she isn’t your teenager that you need to lecture.

How she got pregnant (presumably the usual way) is far less important than what she chooses to do next.

Actually I think it's hugely relevant. If he stealthed her, or promised to withdraw, or anything like that, then that is another clue onto his personality

Actually it's really awful for OPs mum, who she does not seem to give a shit about as long as she is there to help. I feel for her, she may well be supportive but I'm sure she would be much happier without having to be

Does he have his kids alone overnight?
Is he allowed unsupervised access?
How often does he see them?

oldfatandreadyforarevamp · 27/11/2023 18:51

Abortion is legal in both Northern Ireland and Ireland.

LoveInSongs · 27/11/2023 18:52

I hope this is made up. If not, poor children in this mess.

TheShellBeach · 27/11/2023 18:53

OP your baby was in hospital less than four weeks ago.
The baby was 12 days old on 1st November. You say you've been on the pill - but when did you start taking it, and when did you have a positive pregnancy test?

I thought the baby was 8 weeks?

TheShellBeach · 27/11/2023 18:55

So your baby is less than six weeks old now.
Are you sure this is a new pregnancy?

oldfatandreadyforarevamp · 27/11/2023 18:57

So the baby is younger than you said? Are you sure you're pregnant?

Please think about your tiny newborn baby being caught up in this absolute shit show.

losingthe · 27/11/2023 19:49

Starting to get a little messy isn't it... I'm saying this isn't real

PurpleBugz · 27/11/2023 19:50

Op my ex told me his ex was crazy and she was the problem making false accusations. I then fell pregnant. I love my child but had I known what that man was really like I would never have tied myself to him with a child.

You say you are not uk. If Ireland I think you still have time if you decide to abort.

Regardless you need to do Claire's law (uk) or the equivalent where you live. I never did it on my ex then when fighting him in court (and people would believe SS were involved because of me he told everyone I was crazy) anyway police check for court shows a history of harassment of exs and GBH. he still got unsupervised contact and to this day enjoys playing games using children as pawns and whatever he can do to stress me out.

Think long and hard about this

ConnieC2001 · 27/11/2023 19:57

Wow okay , I really didn’t think the situation is as bad as people are making out , my partner hasn’t trapped me , the kids mother is clean now so she gets more time with them , but he has them more than her .
im in Northern Ireland , from my knowledge it is illegal! The accusations were rape against him (how his child was conceived apparently) not saying she’s lying but this baby wasn’t conceived by rape (cause yous will come at me for it) but she was also known to lie about rape in her previous relationships . My head is all over the place but I’m focusing on my newborn right now and will look into this law where I can speak to social worker

@ConnieC2001 it was decriminalised I think in 2019, but it still involves having to travel to England x

MercyIsEliminated · 27/11/2023 20:05

Your baby is only about 5-6 weeks old now, is that right? Please think long and hard about whether you want to have another baby now. Especially with a man who may well be a rapist. A termination is definitely possible if that is what you choose.

Hibiscrubbed · 27/11/2023 20:07

What a complete mess.

If I were you, I’d not be continuing that pregnancy. Your child is eight weeks old! Give them a chance before making more.
