Couldn't see another and the old one is full. Will copy the list from the last one, the tags are really temperamental though and it definitely has quite a few people missing sorry 🙈

@buckingmad hope it steers clear of you. I thought I was going into labour when I had it the cramps were so bad. Fingers crossed she’s had a good night and wakes up brighter

buckingmad · 16/12/2023 06:38

@Mushroo its a slog isn’t it! Now just my CTA and maybe STEP to go 🙄

DD slept through just waking for sips of water. Felt so mean taking the water off her but she just wanted to chug it and I didn’t trust her stomach would take it. I’ve completely undone all the benefit of having a massage by sleeping with her cuddled up like a pretzel.

Now to spend the next 24 hours in fear that I’m going to start feeling sick.

I'm so sorry for everyone experiencing sick bugs in the home, and hoping you all avoid catching it

Bims2019 · 16/12/2023 12:08

@Onedayatatime24 don't blame you at all for maximising your mat leave, like you say that first week back after Christmas should be chilled for you as you'll have wound down and hopefully handed things over! I'm usually terrible before any kind of leave and end up thinking of loads to do at the last minute, but it was surprisingly easier this time.

Due 2nd January but am booked in for an induction on 28th Dec as baby is on the big side. I don't really feel big but am going along with the advice! So I was originally working until 22nd December but brought it forward, just grateful for a bit of time to get Christmas sorted. Though of course I'm sat here rather than doing any useful shopping or decorating 😂You should be fine for 14th, you'll still get a nice week after you finish!

Sorry to anyone battling sick bugs, it's the last thing you want to be dealing with at this stage. Hope you can all get some rest

Dannic2018 · 16/12/2023 12:32

I think I’ve made a decision, think being the word. After talking to people and hubby I think after having 2 shoulder dystopia’s and no guarantee I won’t have another. Im
going to request a c section. It’s not ideal or what I would want but having the anxiety of having to go through it again and having such a long labour when I have a 3 year old at home. At least we can plan childcare and hubby will be off work if we plan a section. Plus my recovery from my last natural was bad anyway.
So need to speak to midwife next week and consultant is the week after when I’m 39 weeks. So if they agree she should be a new year baby.
Any tips, much appreciated please

Mummyme87 · 16/12/2023 14:32

@Dannic2018 i think an elective CS is a very reasonable request after 2 shoulder dystocias. There’s obviously a reason it has happened to you, inducing in hope of a smaller baby isn’t the answer to avoid as they increase the risk, and large babies without diabetes don’t increase the risk.
tips, take peppermint capsules straight away to help prevent trapped wind, mobilise as soon as possible afterwards (the aim is usually 6hours post), have loads of paracetamol and ibuprofen at home for afterwards.

i had a couple of comments yesterday when I went for my itching follow up (bloods all fine) by colleagues of mine about why I wasn’t having an elective CS after my two prev births. Thing is, it’s so individual there is no correct answer. Obviously there’s advice and risks related to varying births but still individual.

in other news, we’ve bought a car, should pick it mid week 😬😬😬

Dannic2018 · 16/12/2023 14:45

Thank you @Mummyme87 appreciate that. My first son I was in the pool in a perfect position and he still got stuck so I think it’s just how they sit in my pelvis in labour, so doing a scan to check position and weight is pointless as they can move and weight isn’t accurate. I’d love to have a natural birth and all be well but there’s just too many IF’s over it all.
Yay on the car front bet you feel so much better now? Our big car is broken so hubby needs to look at it because trying to get it in a decent garage this close to Xmas is like a Xmas bloody miracle 🤣

Hummusanddipdip · 16/12/2023 21:05

Urgh, thrush and piles are back with a vengeance today! So uncomfortable 😫 luckily I had creams in the house to try and sooth the itch and ache!

@Dannic2018 I think your choice seems reasonable too. Hopefully it's straightforward and birth/recovery go smoothly.

I had a letter today from the healthy child programme (assume this is the health visitor team?) Congratulating me on my pregnancy and telling me that unfortunately they are currently unable to offer me any antenatal appointments... I'm sure this letter should have arrived months ago, not weeks before birth? I can't remember if I had a letter like this with ds, I do remember having a health visitor come to see me, sure I was in the second trimester as I was still at work and stopped working at 28/29 weeks. Anyone else had mail from them?

Onedayatatime24 · 16/12/2023 22:38

@Hummusanddipdip I had a letter from them saying there was a teams call I could go to but it was in the middle of the day and I couldn't make it around work. Emailed them and there isn't another until after I'm due 🙄 so didn't end up having anything! Not sure what it was meant to cover either!

Dannic2018 · 16/12/2023 23:52

@Hummusanddipdip I had the HV come out last week to introduce herself and give me leaflets and info, which I’ve never had with my previous children. It was actually her who asked me how I recovered from my ds birth and made me think recovery wasn’t easy with him and that was natural. So plant has definitely been seeded now 🤣

Mummyme87 · 17/12/2023 07:46

I’ve had two letters or texts from HV team asking if I want an antenatal appt with them. I haven’t taken it up as I don’t need to see them

Hummusanddipdip · 17/12/2023 08:47

I didn't even know you could reject them @Mummyme87? But I guess it's the same with any form of health care, you can say no... I don't necessarily need to see them, I haven't attended the preparation appointments that are discussed when you see the midwife either.

I was just shocked that they'd written to say they couldn't see me, especially at such a late stage in the pregnancy.

Also got my PCN for the dental appointment too, so will have that to pay on pay day.

Salamander91 · 17/12/2023 10:39

I haven't had any word from the health visitors yet but I'll be refusing any home visits. Our hv with my 6 year old made my life hell so I'm really hoping it's a different one this time!

@Mummyme87 when they test gbs swabs do they test for other infections? Just had a call from the midwife asking if I had any itching etc and asked me to do a urine sample for them. No symptoms and urine was negative on Thurs so 🤷

LittleAlien24 · 17/12/2023 11:11

@buckingmad congratulations on passing your exam and hope your daughter is feeling better now
@Dannic2018 i kinda understand you with the decision making. My first was emergency csection and second was elective (she was across in my belly). I wanted to try vba2c this time but decided to go for csection again because i think i know what my problem is why i can't have vaginal birth and i don't think it's worth putting me and the baby through trying for it. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
@Mummyme87 congratulations on your new car.

Im so happy, my husband is finally coming home on Friday. I have my ob appointment on Wednesday and don't think I've any more appointments after that so unfortunately he didn't get to go to any appointments or scans. And builders are saying they will finish the ceiling on Wednesday evening, fingers crossed. Then mad few days of cleaning to get the house dust free for Christmas

FirstT1meMum · 17/12/2023 12:23

@Salamander91 glad I'm not the only one! Haven't heard from a health visitor, wasn't even aware I should have!

@LittleAlien24 oh how exciting for you he's coming home!

Mummyme87 · 17/12/2023 12:25

@Hummusanddipdip the antenatal appt is totally optional, just to tell you what’s available support wise, see if any previous issues that may make you susceptible to PND. A lot of areas can’t do it as not enough staff, like I said I’ve never had it before.

@Salamander91 i made a complaint about the HV I saw at 6weeks. It was investigated and she was assessed and my complaint completely stood up so she was out on supervised practice. She wasn’t unpleasant or nasty just didn’t do her job, and I was fine but had I been a woman that was hoping that appt would have given me the opportunity to ask for help it wouldn’t have happened, and that’s why I made the complaint.

also @Salamander91 if it’s one in hospital it’s likely a generic swab not specific to GBS (I may be wrong), proper GBS swabs are rectal and low vaginal and perineal. And so yes if that’s the case they do a general bacterial screen and if she’s asking that it’s probably picked up yeasts which is thrush

LittleAlien24 · 17/12/2023 13:57

@FirstT1meMum yup. he hasn't been home since mid april.

Salamander91 · 17/12/2023 15:07

@Mummyme87 grand thanks. No symptoms atm but I do tend to be prone to thrush because of my diabetes so it's probably that.

My hv was awful and I really wish I'd had the confidence at the time to complain about her. I first met her when my second was a baby and she was fine with me until I told her I was pregnant again and she instantly just changed her opinion of me and assumed I was going to be depressed because I had three young children. After #3 was born she was constantly asking are you depressed and then threatening us with social service assessments etc because our house wasn't spotless (had a newborn, 1 year old and delayed 3 year old so of course it wasn't!). She pressured me constantly into going on antidepressants and when I eventually agreed to (because she had made me depressed by this point) I never heard from her again! Just thinking of seeing a health visitor again triggers me. She was just the exact opposite of what a health visitor should be. I have no problem taking baby to the surgery to see them but no way I'll be letting them in my house again.

Mummyme87 · 17/12/2023 15:11

That’s horrible @Salamander91 just totally unnecessary of them, like you say the opposite of that they should be. I only had a HV once in my house for first visit, after that was in clinic. I complained via email to their head of department, not formal just raised a concern, hadn’t anticipated it would be taken so seriously!!

just had a call from day assessment unit, my urine has raised protein levels from Friday, over the threshold of normal, but perfect BP. So need to do another sample to resend and another to look for infection. Never had a raised one before so bit odd

Salamander91 · 17/12/2023 15:18

@Mummyme87 I'm glad they took it seriously. I wish I had complained at the time but I was genuinely terrified of what she would do.

Fingers crossed the protein was a dodgy sample or minor infection 🤞

Sambeaumont · 17/12/2023 17:05

Anyone suffering with lower back pain? Stomach feel tight too. I'm not 37 weeks yet so sure it's not labour xx

suz2285 · 17/12/2023 17:48

@Sambeaumont I've been having lower cramping today like period pains in my back and lower tummy... on and off, assuming it's just body preparing! Hoping not another few weeks of this tho 😂😂

buckingmad · 17/12/2023 18:10

Had a rubbish day today. Feeling really emotional and fed up, heartburn back with a vengeance despite taking omeprazole, just want to relax on the sofa but can’t get comfy 😭

IzzyMas · 17/12/2023 18:15

My main problem today is baby is playing my bladder like a xylophone.

Mummyme87 · 17/12/2023 18:55

@Sambeaumont i just get lower back pain as part of pelvic girdle pain, so when I walk or sometimes on the sofa it aches. Plenty of tightenings which are super uncomfortable.

busy week this week. Getting my hair done tomorrow, my colour is desperate so will be happy to get that sorted. Meeting a work friend for brunch Tuesday followed by an afternoon at the hospital, scan/consultant appt, Wednesday nothing specific, Thursday midwife appt, kids finish school early and collect car, Friday pack up ready to drive up north. In between wrap all the presents and make sure house is in some kind of order!
