Couldn't see another and the old one is full. Will copy the list from the last one, the tags are really temperamental though and it definitely has quite a few people missing sorry 🙈

Took this morning off work, got my legs waxed and a mani pedi with bright pink sparkly polish :) feeling great for doing something that was just about making me happy. Sadly can't get hair cut until the new year but that should hopefully still be before baby makes an appearance...starting looking up to see if there are any pregnancy massages nearby now I've heard lots of you talk about them! Any of you around Hillingdon/west london and have recommendations?

buckingmad · 15/12/2023 14:35

Taking the highs with the lows…passed my final chartered accountancy exam today so am now fully qualified, organised MIL to come get DD so I can leisurely get ready for my Christmas do with work, bubble bath etc. MIL is 10 mins away and DD throws up 🫠🫠🫠

I got her changed and she then asked for her lunch that she was just about to eat so I’m PRAYING that rather than being the dreaded bug going round it is instead just linked to her nasty cold and her stomach is just a bit funny from the mega deep 2.5 hour nap she’d just woken up from and the calpol. Fingers crossed she’s not sick again in the next couple of hours.

1992H · 15/12/2023 14:48

Congratulations @buckingmad. I hope DD recovers-we’ve spent all week passing the sick from one of us to the other.

nice to see lots finishing up now, I’m a way behind so need to catch up on everything else that’s been going on!

suz2285 · 15/12/2023 15:11

I'm finished today, thank god!!!!

No Christmas night out or goodbye really, we're a small team and no one was bothered so it's a quiet night in for me, I'm not mad about that! DH on the other hand is out on his first of 2 nights out this weekend 😂 so I'm on driving duty!

Going to be so weird not going back to work, but can't wait for a quiet week next week and hopefully a quiet festive period before baby makes an appearance! 🤞🤞

FirstT1meMum · 15/12/2023 15:57

Congratulations @buckingmad! Hope you have a lovely evening celebrating!

Just back from my follow up day care appointment from yesterday and the midwife was so lovely. She definitely thinks I have white coat as BP was 153/97 at first then 10 minutes later 131/82! She is also fairly certain it's hypertension not pre eclampsia as still no protein or other symptoms. Somehow I feel I can cope more with hypertension than pre eclampsia. Hopefully the labetalol will help to control it 🤞

Thank you to everyone who has listened to me over the last couple of days and shared advice, I really do appreciate it!

Onedayatatime24 · 15/12/2023 15:58

@Flossiepot the ASDA maternity pants have been absolute godsends for me when I haven't wanted anything digging in to my tummy! If I end up having a CS, they'll be the first ones I'll reach for.

So jealous of everyone finishing up work! Another week for me (and technically the first week back after NY but I'm mentally finishing next Friday).

I've had a lovely new symptom start this week - night sweats. Keep waking up about 2am drenched in sweat. Hopefully not an early labour sign. 🤞

buckingmad · 15/12/2023 16:04

@Onedayatatime24 i can’t remember if this is your first baby but if it is, just you wait for the post birth sweats 😂 they are out of this world. I was literally showering 2-3 times a day. I think it’s your body getting rid of all the excess fluid it retains in pregnancy. It’s bonkers.

I won’t be going to my Christmas do 😭 she’s been sick 3 times now in less than 2 hours. Gone through almost all my towels and given up with changing her clothes and just popped the heating up and left her in her nappy. Even if I did trust DH to cope without me, id hate to spread germs.

So typical that I’ve spent my first day of mat leave looking after a sick toddler.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/12/2023 16:26

@Mummyme87 hope you have a brilliant weekend away, and as chilled as possible with that many children around!

@buckingmad oh no that's rubbish, so sorry. Yep it would be soda law you'd get there and then get sick yourself, and gift everyone a lovely little present. Sick bugs are the worst. Hoping you avoid catching it

buckingmad · 15/12/2023 16:30

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 been washing my hands religiously but think it’s too late. She had a rubbish nights sleep last night so I spent most of it in with her having her germy little breath breathing into my face.

No doubt DH will manage to avoid it 🫠 he always does! My friends little girl had it and was sick for 12 hours, so hopefully just 9.5 to go!

TunnocksTCake · 15/12/2023 16:35

@buckingmad oh nooo absolute Sod's Law! What a shame. If it's any consolation my DD had a sick bug last week and it literally lasted less than 12 hours and none of us got it, we know another family that had the same. About 4 sicks close together then fine the next day! 🤷🏻‍♀️

@FirstT1meMum glad it's not as bad as you feared, hope the medication helps!

I've booked myself a pregnancy massage for Tuesday after hearing so many of you rave about it, I think I deserve one last selfish treat before baby comes!!

buckingmad · 15/12/2023 16:41

@TunnocksTCake a friend has said the same! 12 hours of sick then fine. Fingers crossed I avoid it.

Onedayatatime24 · 15/12/2023 17:04

@buckingmad it is my first haha oh great I will look forward to that! 😂 Sorry to hear about DD and rubbish you can't go to your party!

Hummusanddipdip · 15/12/2023 17:09

Oh no @buckingmad that's disappointing, hopefully it's a short term bug and she's feeling better in the morning. Also hope you don't get it tooo It's our Christmas do tonight too, but also dh birthday, so I opted out of the party, however, dh has come down with a tummy bug, so our planned meal out is cancelled. Take out it is...

sashastuck · 15/12/2023 17:25

@MrsJ6921 best of luck for Monday!! Really intruiged to hear how it goes, I’m sure it’ll be amazing, I’m coming to terms with the idea of being induced late next week/over Christmas as at my appointment today I also had some glucose in my urine meaning it’s even more likely I’ve got GD. Sending all the best wishes x

@FirstT1meMum everyone has been amazing with the advice for you, sorry I don’t have anything to add!! Glad they’re not thinking its preeclampsia for you as I know that’d be such a worry x

@buckingmad congratulations on finishing, woohooo! Sorry about the sick DD though. Also those post birth sweats sound TERRIFYING. I hate sweating

buckingmad · 15/12/2023 17:50

She’s been sick a few more times but bringing up less. DH insisted she MUST eat so gave her some chips. 5 mins later I was proven right and she brought them back up. Don’t know why he thought he knew better when he has dealt with a grand total of 0 of her sickness bugs so far.

Just feel so deflated that I’ve worked so hard for years to pass these exams and I’m spending my evening cleaning up sick 😭 plus will have a tiny newborn on my 30th. Just crap timing and feeling sorry for myself tonight!

Mummyme87 · 15/12/2023 18:07

@buckingmad hope she sleeps it off. When I had noro the kids only vomited a few times then slept for 12hours and were fine.

buckingmad · 15/12/2023 18:33

@Mummyme87 shes fallen asleep on the sofa next to me which is very unusual at this time considering she had 1.5 hour longer than usual nap today too. So I’m hopeful we’re over the sick stage and she’ll sleep!

Mummyme87 · 15/12/2023 18:35

@buckingmad yeah that’s what mine did, asleep on the sofa then transferred to bed. Fingers crossed she has a good night and it’s over.
sickness is the worst. It’s so nasty

lucya66 · 15/12/2023 19:21

Hope she feels better soon!

I am watching a movie and have ordered myself a take away as Dh is out at his Christmas do. It’s also my Christmas do today but in another city and I cba with the travel etc. much happier on the sofa, enjoying the peace and quiet while I can.

37w5d and no signs of Labour yet!

Redpanda21 · 15/12/2023 20:50

Congrats @buckingmad on your exams. I’ve just started level 4 AAT and studying for personal tax exam. Wanted both that and business tax exams taken before baby but highly unlikely.

Hope DD is feeling better soon, such a shame you didn’t get your night out. Think of it this way, do a delayed one and you can have a drink!

Bims2019 · 15/12/2023 21:35

@Onedayatatime24 oh the overwhelm is real, and my DH is definitely doing more nesting, cleaning etc than me too! I'm hoping some motivation kicks in next week 😂 I felt a bit worried about finishing everything today, but it was actually ok and I was able to get away a bit early. It feels strange to be logging off for so long, but a big relief as well! How long have you got left? Hope it comes round quickly!

@EL27 I've tried the perineal massage, not sure if I'm doing it right as have just been following the instructions on the massage oil leaflet 😂 but I've found it easier to reach by standing up and putting a leg on the bath (sorry if tmi!). I keep forgetting though, so not sure if it's doing any good!

I also practiced getting some colostrum earlier, which went better than expected. Going to try and collect some in syringes over the weekend.

@buckingmad congratulations on your exam! But sorry about your Christmas do, hope your daughter is ok.

Yay for everyone who's finished work this week, and not long to go for everyone else! I'm so excited for all of us, it's actually starting to feel real now.

Mushroo · 15/12/2023 21:36

@buckingmad huge congrats on the exam! I’ve been through the accountancy qualification so understand how much of a slog it is!

Definitely pick a night to celebrate properly at some point when you can.

Bims2019 · 15/12/2023 21:39

@lucya66 I've had a very similar evening, DH is out so have enjoyed the peace and quiet with a pizza and movie. Love time to myself so enjoying the solitude while I can! I'm 37+3 and get some mild cramps from time to time, but don't think there's any other signs of labour just yet 🤞

Onedayatatime24 · 15/12/2023 22:33

@Bims2019 glad it's not just me that seems to have no time/energy for nesting! I'm technically working until the 5th Jan (due in 14th so should be fine unless he comes early) but hoping I won't have anything to do that week really and might work from home so fingers crossed it's chilled. Kinda wish I'd booked some holiday in and finished at Christmas but want to make the most of mat leave/get as much money as possible in Jan 😅 I bet it's such a relief to finally be done, one thing ticked off the brain list at least! Hope you get some chill time, when are you due?

buckingmad · 15/12/2023 23:12

I fell asleep with her and no sick so far since 6pm. I’m going to stay with her just cause I won’t sleep for worrying otherwise but I’m already so uncomfy and longing for my bed!

I keep having little stomach cramps and thinking is this baby or sickness bug, neither appeal much right now 😂
