Thanks @MummyTo4BoysXXXX

@Kelb79 oh god I feel you there! We're renovating at the moment. I've spent my lunch breaks and whatever times left after work painting and cleaning and drilling. I'm so over it already, and half the house still looks like a holding site or just grim. Meant to be moving in this week 😬

amyg1985 · 30/10/2023 20:13

Wahoo, thread 5!

@Kelb79, I def feel baby move more when I'm a bit tired/hungry/light headed! I'm not sure why this is.

Foreverhoping33 · 30/10/2023 20:28

Thanks for the new thread @MummyTo4BoysXXXX

AllAboardTootToot · 30/10/2023 20:44

22 weeks and have felt the baby really move over past week but today have noticed very reduced movements. Normal at this stage?

Callmemummynotmaaa · 30/10/2023 21:03

@AllAboardTootToot yip totally normal for movements to come and go. In my trust they don’t ask you to track patterns until 28+ as before that what you feel depends on where baba is and they move around a lot. BUT if you are worried, I’ve always found triage helpful and usually (at least later on) they prefer to see you than not.
😂 I’m crap at telling movements and in previous pregnancies I’ve literally had my own set of belts for the machine!

Callmemummynotmaaa · 30/10/2023 21:06

I’m working till the end of Jan and will be ELCS (after 2 previous EMCS) the first week of Feb. Hospital/community based so not WFH but I worked till the end in previous pregnancies (or baby came early!) and didn’t find it too bad. Trying to save my leave for post baby, I’ll prob return to work in September ish. Means as few weeks as possible with no/low income.

AllAboardTootToot · 30/10/2023 21:12

Thanks @Callmemummynotmaaa , thought it was later but just thought weird as movements changed so much. As I type it feels like she’s doing somersaults again!

Cheetocat · 30/10/2023 22:06

Wow, we're on thread 5 already! I still don't understand the whole translation from weeks to months, I'm 24 weeks since Saturday but that's not the start of 6 months apparently?

CheeseAndCrackersx · 30/10/2023 22:44

As he's getting bigger, really struggling more with breathlessness

Kelb79 · 30/10/2023 23:00

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX thanks fir the new post! 🙏🏼

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 omg it’s the worst isn’t it?! I’ve got the best intentions with the work that needs doing but only about a quarter the energy required for it 🫣🫣🫣

@CheeseAndCrackersx im soooo breathless too! One flight of stairs and I’m done 🫣 I’m a fitness instructor ffs 🤣🤣🤣

Ebonythoughts · 30/10/2023 23:02

Thanks for creating the new thread!

I work from home so will try and slow down in Jan and stop when i’m 38 weeks. Had a few dreams this week that the baby was born premature and it’s made me super anxious. Also have my glucose tolerance test on Wednesday and have no idea what to expect. First baby and there are so many unknowns.

I bought the first few bits and pieces with my husband today and suddenly feels like it’s with arms reach.

Has anyone thought about their birth plan? Those of you that have had children before, can I ask about gas and air and epidural? I’m quite an anxious person anyway and I’ve heard that gas and air can make you feel quite confused. As much as I’m dreading Labour, I think I’ll panic if I’m feeling out of it because of the gas and air. Likewise I’ve heard that epidural that make Labour longer because you don’t have the urge to push so not keen on that either. I know you can’t plan for pain you’ve never experienced and I’m pretty sure I probably will need pain relief, but just wondering if these two are the only two option and what people’s experience with them has been?

Mummapenguin20 · 30/10/2023 23:30

@Ebonythoughts i have 3 previous children I have only ever had gas and air for pain relief it spaces me out but I’m in control so when I start feeling spacey I stop puffing for a few mins. Only you can decide what you would like ❤️

Hankthehonk · 31/10/2023 01:47

Thanks for creating the new thread!

@Ebonythoughts I labourer mostly on gas and air with my first, I was quite spaced out but still knew what was going on. Also not sure if that's because my contractions were so relentless, I was induced and had almost no breaks between them so I think this is what made me loopy after hours and hours.
I opted for morphine over epidural as my choice of more hard-core pain relief, which I did need when complications arose towards the end of labour and pain escalated rapidly. I'd researched the different pain relief options and side effects etc and decided I preferred morphine to epidural personally, that was my birth plan and I expect I'll do the same again (although obviously I'm hopeful for fewer interventions and complications, it would be nice to only need gas and air this time!)

mummylove24 · 31/10/2023 03:20

Thanks @MummyTo4BoysXXXX

It’s my first baby, I’m hoping to be off from 38+4 weeks, I’ll be working from home after Christmas too, then taking 9 months Mat Leave, so really trying to save as much as I can, even annual leave days 😂 💓💕

LavenderSweetPea · 31/10/2023 06:06

@Cheetocat I don't know what the 'official' 6 month mark is, or even if there is one, but I'd say 6 months is exactly 3 months from your due date. So for me I'm due 10 Feb so I'll be six months on 10th Nov, and 7 months on 10 Dec etc.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 31/10/2023 06:17

@Kelb79 yep the worst! I'm also nervous about the dust and making sure everything is clean. Our post build clean was so rubbish, I can't see what they've done. I'm painting in a mask etc and hoping that's okay (low voc paint). Good luck with yours, it's horrible psyching yourself up when you're so knackered what with work and everything too x

@Ebonythoughts I was induced with the drip, so like @Hankthehonk says it's meant to be more painful/relentless. Gas and air personally made me feel sick so I didn't take it. I got about six hours in with nothing, and then thankfully got a walking epidural. Not sure if all hospitals do them, but it's basically a low dose that you control. I could feel all contractions with about 50% less intensity, could move around, labour on my knees, walk myself to the loo etc.

For any birth prep, I highly recommend the Aniball, if anyone's interested. Lots of my friends used it before me, then I did, and none of us tore. My birth was back to back too, so the midwife and consultant were really surprised because apparently most people with back to back do tear.

redxlondon · 31/10/2023 06:59

I’m full of cold and feeling a bit flat so working from home more this week, and will just try go into the office. Totally with you ladies on the breathlessness, stairs just seem to kill me!
My boy was very active from early on, then very quiet weeks 22-23 but has been back to a bit more of a pattern this week. The weeks all seem to be flying by now, hitting week 25 on Thursday. I have my midwife appointment in the morning then going to a fetal research institute in the afternoon as they want to take a closer look at baby’s brain because of a measurement that was borderline on my growth scan next week. I’m having scans every week now, part of it is reassuring, but may also be contributing to why I’ve been very on edge since the weekend.

Thanks for the new thread 💕

Wow hats off to those planning to work up to their due date! I'm going to be a SAHM so no maternity dates for me x

Sunshineclouds11 · 31/10/2023 07:38

@Ebonythoughts
I tried gas and air but it didn't touch the sides:
I was induced and on the drip though so contractions are pretty intense with that.
Epidural was amazing 👌🏽

Ebonythoughts · 31/10/2023 08:07

Thank you all for sharing your pain relief experiences. Trying to research but also keep an open mind because anything can happen when the time comes.

Just first time mum nerves I guess! 🙈
