Thinking of the little babies who are in hospital and sending strength to mums. It must be terrifying.

congratulations to all the new arrivals!

@Katiec1 my midwife talked about this and said it could be build up of wind and recommended walking/ moving, drinking peppermint tea and using a hot compress on your neck/ shoulder area.

I’m 10 days post c section and my scar has a lump above it on one side, anyone else having this? I’m hoping it’s just a hematoma and it’ll resolve itself but when I googled it ( I know!) I get worried..

Katiec1 · 26/11/2023 06:49

Thanks @Travellingislife for the info! Im being discharged today so I’ll make sure I’m fully stocked up on the peppermint teas. 😊

foodislife1 · 26/11/2023 09:01

@Travellingislife is it red or flesh coloured? As long as it's not oozing I think it's fine but keep an eye on it. I've had a few issues with my scar so have been back and forth between hospital and GP.

Thinking of all the new mums with poorly babies xx

Travellingislife · 26/11/2023 09:55

@foodislife1 it’s just flesh coloured, no oozing and it doesn’t look inflamed. I’ll keep an eye on it and ask the midwife when I see her the next time or if it gets worse I’ll make
an appointment with my gp.

Crazybrowncow · 26/11/2023 10:14

Keep an eye @Travellingislife , both MW and HV told me my scar was fine. It was however infected, I had a stitch abscess- which also looked like a lump. The GP said having given birth we are more susceptible to sepsis, so if worried it is better to get checked out. Mine became inflamed and sore - so not wishing to scare you in your current situation but keep monitoring it. x

Travellingislife · 26/11/2023 10:46

@Crazybrowncow thank you! Sounds like I should make an appointment with the gp, better safe than sorry!

Alloveragain3 · 26/11/2023 12:23

@PinkPlantCase Thanks that's really helpful :)

@Spareincoming So glad to hear you're home and little one is OK, it must be such a relief.

We've tried my little one off oxygen today but her sats keep dipping so she's not quite ready yet. I had a visit from my toddler which was so nice. However, I really just want to be home!

PinkPlantCase · 26/11/2023 13:36

I think today might be my day 🙂 contractions around 4 minutes apart. Lounge rearranged and pool blown up.

It started in the night and I thought things would go away during the daylight but they haven’t really, interested to see if we get past midnight or not.

Good luck! Hopefully things pick up soon for you sounds very promising xx

reememberly · 26/11/2023 13:59

Good luck @PinkPlantCase!

So glad baby is on the mend and you’re home @Spareincoming. Hope you’ll be the same soon @Alloveragain3 - what a worrying time you’ve had.

@foodislife1 @Travellingislife @Crazybrowncow - I’m having scar issues too, which is so depressing as I really thought I’d escaped it this time. Will be trying to see the GP in the morning too.

PinkPlantCase · 27/11/2023 04:05

Baby girl arrived at home just after 9pm 🙂 Both doing well, no need to transfer in. I’m a bit too wired to sleep though.

It was all a bit of a shock, the midwife hadn’t long come out to us so I’d gone to have a wee on the wee test strip. I did the wee, had a contraction where my waters broke, in the same contraction her head was born as I was shouting there’s a baby. No time to slowly breathe baby’s head out! She was born on the bathroom floor and I later delivered the placenta on the landing 🙈

Shes so perfect though and looks completely different to my DS!

Wow, that's amazing @PinkPlantCase Well done you!

Travellingislife · 27/11/2023 14:33

@PinkPlantCase Congratulation! That was fast and I’m glad all has gone well!

@reememberly did you see a gp about your scar? I will leave it for another few days and see if the lump is getting smaller.

reememberly · 27/11/2023 17:05

Congratulations @PinkPlantCase!

@Travellingislife Is the lump tender? I would have quite a low bar for getting it checked out, although I did wait it out over the weekend as couldn’t face going to sit in out of hours or maternity assessment. Any pain, fever, redness or oozing and I wouldn’t wait.
GP just spoke to me on the phone this morning, but she thought it might be a stitch or stitch knot poking out and when I looked again, I think she’s spot on. Just looked like a weird little lump or scab until I knew what I was looking for. She suggested trying to pull it out but think it needs to work out a bit further before I can do that. She prescribed an antibiotic cream meantime, which I’m relieved about as have found oral antibiotics difficult when breastfeeding previously. Had an infection last time that took ages to shake, so I was really anxious when I saw this problem area, but feeling a lot more hopeful it’ll resolve without all that. Hope yours settles!

JoyApple · 27/11/2023 17:36

Congratulations @PinkPlantCase !

I know there's quite of few you experienced with bottle feeding. Our LO now 4 weeks is on Kendamil and has been straining to do a poo. The actual poo isn't hard but she's crying a lot when pooing, and it seems to all come in a bit of explosive way after 24 hours or more of not going.

We offered her today 1oz of water which I am hoping will help.

I don't know if its in my head but the she has been in pain more since we started using the Prep machine during the day (at night we still do feeds manually - half hot boiled water, and half pre-boiled cold water). The feeds during the day tend to be cooler in temp, whereas the night ones tend to be warmer. Could this be causing the poo strains? Or could it be the prep itself? I did notice the powder has very little hot water to dissolve in? As soon as she has the warmer bottles at night, she then poos and is not pooing during the day.

Crazybrowncow · 27/11/2023 17:58

@reememberly did the antiBs upset bub previously. DC has a really grouchy tummy and strains and grunts whenever lying down which I don't know whether it's linked to the tablets as it got a lot worse a day after taking them. I'm not seeing much sick so don't think it's reflux it's more poop related (sorry). Glad you spoke to the GP. x

reememberly · 27/11/2023 19:39

@Crazybrowncow yes, upset tummy and just generally fussy and unhappy. I was on and off antibiotics for weeks and weeks after my last section and it became clear the difference in baby. Obviously needs must sometimes though - hope they do the job for you and you can get off them soon for both your sakes.

Crazybrowncow · 27/11/2023 19:46

@reememberly thank you for replying- 2 more days, they've cleared up my wound so that's good news, I'm just slightly broken from the last 3 nights of fussiness and waking every hour grizzly!!

reememberly · 27/11/2023 20:01

@Crazybrowncow great news about your wound. I definitely found baby settled down again pretty quickly once I came off them, so hopefully you’ll get a bit more sleep soon. Hang in there!

Thack · 27/11/2023 21:51

Wow @PinkPlantCase that's amazing! Congratulations! Have you settled now?

Does anyone have a 'witching hour' forming? Ours was around 7pm, it's now between 9pm and midnight.

Spareincoming · 27/11/2023 23:13

@JoyApple the warmer feed could be stimulating her to poo; and with the prep machine, because the hot shot is smaller it’s easy to over shake the formula and get loads of air bubbles, which might make baby uncomfortable, swirling or mixing with a long spoon can help minimise them.
As I’ve said before, I’m a huge perfect prep advocate, we’ve had one since their launch!

I will update properly on poorly DC at some point, they’re still rather unwell but I’m definitely processing everything at the moment.

Hi all. Our little boy arrived today. He is just beautiful and settling in on the ward really well. Cesarean delivery went well and he is so cute 😍 Hope everyone else is enjoying their babies and the poorly little ones are doing well and recovering. Also best if luck to those still waiting. You are nearly there!

Travellingislife · 28/11/2023 03:09

@reememberly hopefully the cream does the trick for you!
My lump is about 1-5-2cm and it’s on the side where the stitches are tied so maybe it could have something to do with them. It’s not really tender, or maybe a little bit more than the rest of the scar.
I’ll phone the gp and see what they say.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 28/11/2023 07:55

Congratulations! Happy due date to me but still no baby 😅 anyone got any experience with having/declining stretch and sweep?
