@Katiec1 wishing you a speedy recovery

@BabyBabyBaby123 when do you see HV next? I've noticed what looks like cradle cap around eyebrows but also can't be sure that it's not dry skin. I see mine Thurs, going to wait and ask

@Nov2023 totally understand that on trial feeling. With everything going on is it's no wonder gain is slow, you will turn a corner soon. Could you space out the appointments? Push back by a day or two? To reduce anxiety and give you rest then it's reasonable to do.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 12/12/2023 07:19

@Thack no idea actually … how old is your LO? DS is 6 weeks today and I’m not 100% if the HV is coming back.
My GP doesn’t do the 6 week check til 8 weeks either and does the first vaccinations at the same time.

Nov2023 · 12/12/2023 12:18

@Thack That's great advice thanks. My husband has been saying the same so I called to reschedule the next one for a few days later. This weighing business is a stressful game!

Thack · 12/12/2023 13:06

@BabyBabyBaby123 HV is coming for an 8 week check (just a few days early). I think they're monthly after the early spell. I'm surprised they didn't book the next one with you?!
We've got our GP check in the new year, I haven't heard about the vaccinations yet.

reememberly · 12/12/2023 13:24

I’ve fallen so behind! How is everyone doing?

Hope babies are fully better now @Spareincoming , @Alloveragain3 and any others that were unwell?

How are you recovering @TMI2000 ?

Congratulations @FlyingHighFlyingLow! Is a Cat1 the super fast emergency type? Hope it wasn’t too scary and things are going well now.

@Travellingislife - think we were talking wounds before, how is yours doing now? Sorry if I’ve missed an update. Mine is still not healing properly where the stitch came out, but it’s just a tiny wee bit so I’m waiting to talk to the GP at my 6 wk check on Friday - can’t believe that’s come round already. One side still a bit further behind than the other too, but think it’s getting there. I’m definitely feeling stronger and less sore. Trying to build up my walking now, finally.

@Nov2023 - similar here, baby is feeding well but has dropped a percentile so they’re keeping an extra eye. I find it stressful too and have pushed back an appt to next week. I’ve had this pattern before, with quite a high birth weight and then sort of settling to something more average once they’re out and then tracking a new line, so I don’t think it’s a cause for concern, all other indications good, but feel like you end up held hostage by the number on the scales.

Travellingislife · 12/12/2023 13:44

@reememberly We did! I forgot to update đŸ˜… Sorry to hear yours still isn’t healing well, it’s frustrating!
I went to see the GP about 2 weeks ago and she said it’s fine and not inflamed, it’s my second one and she said it won’t heal as well. On the side where they tie the knot it’s still a bit red and not as smooth but apparently it’s normal. I’ve used tummy control underwear and it’s really helped with swelling above the scar, maybe you could try?

reememberly · 12/12/2023 15:48

@Travellingislife - glad you’re doing better. Thanks for tip about control underwear and yeah, that’s interesting, second one here too and the side they tied off is the one taking longer, still a bit pink in places.

Spareincoming · 12/12/2023 15:58

@reememberly thanks for thinking of us; we’re just about there now, all lost weight gained and now we need to bulk up as baby has slipped to 7th percentile.

8 week check next week; where has that time gone!

I hope everyone is looking forward to Christmas with LO, knowing this is my last baby has made me go a bit mad on the Christmas outfits! The other Dc had one or two for their first Christmas, this one has one or two per day I think!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 12/12/2023 16:20

@Thack do you have psychic abilities? I got a letter today saying HV is coming next Wednesday, so DS will be 7 weeks!

Travellingislife · 12/12/2023 16:41

How is everyone finding going from 1-2 DC? Or 2-3?!
find it way easier than it was going from 0-1! I think I just got over the shock of having a baby when I got pregnant with this little lady đŸ˜…
People have been telling me that going from 1-2 will be mental but so far so good.
I lived such a selfish life before DS and did not expect it to be a hard as it was having a baby the first time around. Now I’m in it and it’s not a surprise , plus I kind of know what I’m doing.
My DS is 3 though and it might help too as he understands a lot and you can explain things to him.

PinkPlantCase · 12/12/2023 17:42

@Travellingislife my DS is just under 2 and a half and I wouldn’t say it’s been easy đŸ¤£ on the other hand looking after a newborn feels very easy! DS was already in a pushing boundaries stage before baby arrived. He has been great with his new sister though.

Our little girl is just over 2 weeks now so early days for us still.

DS also doesn’t sleep particularly well 1 or 2 wakes ups followed by a 5:30 start to the day is normal. DH does the nights/early mornings with him but it means DH has been really exhausted with baby wake ups disturbing his sleep and toddler wake ups đŸ™ˆ

We’ve been very well looked after by friends and family so we haven’t really needed to cook for ourselves yet đŸ˜‚

The slight downside of baby close to Christmas is that it'll be ages before we get back to normality and get into the swing of day to day life as a family of 4. DH doesn’t go back to the office until January and we’ll be away with family over Christmas.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 12/12/2023 18:22

@reememberly yes, they have to get baby out immediately (immediate risk to life of mum or baby) and had I not already had my epidural topped up they would have put me under general. Was a failed forceps delivery, they had to push him back up and c section him out very quickly.

Crazybrowncow · 13/12/2023 04:23

@Travellingislife & @reememberly I'm still not healed and have a knot on the RHS. It's no.2 for me too. After two rounds of antibiotics and swabs my infection hasn't cleared up, so I have be referred to the emergency gynae assessment unit later today, fingers crossed they'll get me on the right track to recovery. I just so badly want it sorted. We have transitioned from 1-2 well, my DC1 is still quite non-fussed. I'm looking forward to after Christmas so I can get my own routine sorted.

Those with c sections are you waiting for 6/8 wk check before driving? I don't think you have to but I have so far.

I have Gynae, a weigh in and DC1s Christmas concert today, it's going to be a busy one!

Thack · 13/12/2023 10:10

@BabyBabyBaby123 my lottery record/bank account says No đŸ˜‚

@Travellingislife definitely much easier going from 1-2 than it was 0-1 but I had a lot of stressful events around DC1s birth and this LO has been easier (feeding, less colicy) which has helped. How have your big ones adapted?
@PinkPlantCase our biggie is a few months older than yours. The testing boundaries came on strong but we've settled more now.

Sending you caffeine and well behaved children to make your day easier @Crazybrowncow ! hope they can sort you out quickly. Enjoy the concert

Travellingislife · 13/12/2023 10:40

@Crazybrowncow
Ah what a pain with your scar! I hope they can do something to get it sorted.
I’ve been driving since 2 weeks pp, I felt good early on.
I LOVE routines so I’ve pretty much got into one already haha! My DC2 seems to already sleep better during the nights and is more awake during the days. I’m thankful for every day which is easier than with DC1! It can change at any time..

@Thack Yeah I think it’s mostly because DC1 was a more demanding baby, he slept less, cried more and constantly wanted to be carried, he probably had CMPA but we didn’t know until he was over 1! Poor boy.
DC2 is very cool about being a big brother and very understanding that I have to spend a lot of time with the baby, but I make sure I do one on one time with him every day. You can see it’s affected him though as he gets upset more easily and he wakes up every night and comes in to our bed, he didn’t use to do that.

@PinkPlantCase
yeah I think the age of DC2 makes a big difference, if my DC1 had been 2.5 I would definitely not have coped as well! He was very demanding then and didn’t sleep well.
Now he’s started to come in to us during the night but just goes to sleep, 6 months ago he would wake up and cry during the nights, often 2-3 times and it really broke us!
The baby has started to sleep from around 8:30pm to at least 1am and my husband does that feed so I can sleep until about 4am, that never happened with my first one as he refused bottles. The sleep deprivation killed me with DC1!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 13/12/2023 10:56

@Travellingislife I wouldn’t have coped going from 2-3 without my husband being so hands on.
I found going from 1-2 easy, as I have such a big age gap (11 years) but there’s less than 2 years between DD2 and DS and it is full on!
DD2 has definitely had a sleep regression and has gone from sleeping through to waking in the night and wanting DH to cuddle her back to sleep, which he is struggling with now he is back in work, but DS is very needy and if I get up to see to DD, he always cries to be fed at that exact moment.
At the minute, DD2 is still in nursery full time and will drop to 3 days a week in January to save a bit of money, but being able to have 1:1 time with DS for the early weeks definitely helped.
Both my DDs are besotted with DS though and I am loving seeing how they interact with him and holding onto the idea that it will only get easier.

GreenAventurinee · 13/12/2023 12:07

@Travellingislife if found it ok going from 1-2 children, but I have a 15 year age gap! My 15 year old is amazing but I have noticed little things that are harder now eg asking me to wash his football kit the night before a game đŸ¤£ Before that would have been a simple job, but not as simple with a newborn.
It’s very much doable though and I’m enjoying it. Also, he is a massive help too. Baby girl loves her brother so I’m able to get on with things while he has a cwtch with her after getting in from school.

PinkPlantCase · 13/12/2023 14:26

@BabyBabyBaby123 we’ve already dropped nursery days from 4 to 2. My mum still has him one day a week. We have been joking about how long it’ll take us to increase his days again đŸ˜‚

LeeanneD11 · 13/12/2023 19:14

@WriMum22

How you getting on? My son started nutramigen 7 days ago, and I now believe his has a allergic reaction to it, what did your little ones rash look like and where was it xx

WriMum22 · 13/12/2023 19:25

@LeeanneD11 Hey, we started with Gaviscon for the reflux and some gripe water for the wind, but we quickly stopped the gripe as she was throwing up more. Then I switched her milk to Hipp Organic and used that with the Gaviscon and we saw positive changes with that milk, she was very settled but she started throwing up after every single bottle, so at that point I got very emotional and finally admitted that I think she has an allergy and nothing I’m doing it stopping her from literally projectile vomiting pretty much a full bottle of milk multiple times a day, so yesterday I very tearfully gave her the prescribed milk. I know it sounds so stupid and I actually should have done it last week but her symptoms didnt perfectly fit milk allergy and I really didn’t want that road for her, so I stupidly hoped I could find some other solution but it didn’t happen. That being said, after almost two days on the SMA Althera milk, she’s doing really well and only one throw up in two days, she still is struggling with wind, but I know you have to give these milks time. She does already seem to be much more comfortable and chilled and she’s taking the bottles really well, it’s like she doesn’t even realise there’s a change. Fingers crossed it continues.

Her rash was all over her face and neck and going in to her scalp, it was like little red spots, I’ll try and attach a pic

Edited

I feel like my son has had a reaction to his milk, I'm now back on his old milk with gaviscon to see how we go , he was still being sick with the special milk he was on

Since being on it his developed a rash

I'll try attach a photo for you

WriMum22 · 13/12/2023 19:47

@LeeanneD11 yes, I would say it’s a reaction. They should be able to prescribe a different milk as I read it is trial and error with these milks, finding the one that suits baby. But if the Gaviscon and the old milk works, then even better. It’s such a stress as I found different combinations solved different things so it was working out which was her worse symptom and that was definitely the vomiting and so far it’s only the prescribed milk that is helping with that, she’s still being sick but not as much, but I’ve read online you have to give it 2 to 4 weeks for all the cows milk to come
out their symptoms and for their stomachs to heal. But if your little one has developed a new symptom since the prescribed milk, I definitely wouldn’t continue giving and would go back to the GP.

LeeanneD11 · 13/12/2023 19:49

Yeah I tried to do that today but no appointments so will try again tomorrow , but so far so good with old milk & gaviscon . So will see how we go this evening and night feeds with old milk. The only downside of the prescribed milk was bathing him constantly cause he was sick after every feed xx
