Aww lovely to hear the babies are starting to arrive!

I'm still stuggling with insomnia but im on the home stretch now, 11 days till section day. I'm getting so worried about it but I'm sure i will be fine lol

Hope everyone is ok xx

TMI2000 · 23/10/2023 05:29

Massive congratulations @Thack and @Spareincoming, hopefully both mums and babies are going well and recovering okay!❤️ so exciting about all the babies being born!

36 weeks now and getting so uncomfortable, woken up with horrendous back pain 😣 Even though it’s my first, I and everyone around me suspect I’ll drop early and I hope this is is the case 🤞🏻 (not too early obviously) but we will see! 💙

spanglesj · 23/10/2023 05:54

What lovely news @Spareincoming @Thack ! I agree With the others surreal to be here on the baby thread after all these chats. Congratulations.
im in latent labour and have a second sweep tmo and induction Thurs if I don’t progress before then. Hoping I will…. X

spanglesj · 23/10/2023 05:56

Good luck today with swift progression @Oreopie

Thack · 23/10/2023 07:11

@Spareincoming it is real in a surreal way. I've been in the postnatal ward overnight because they need a doctor to do the health checks (because we were consultant led for small measurements).
I was here 3nights with DC1 so I've settled ok. Hopefully I'll be home today, then it will hit me!
How have your family been with the news?

Hating the after pains. They are worse for the induction and breastfeeding has been settings them off. C'est la vie.

I opted for diamorphine this time, although I'm not sure it did much. I know I would have regretted if I'd not had it: I had a very quick and intense labour.

WriMum22 · 23/10/2023 08:17

Congratulations @Thack and @Spareincoming, amazing news, wishing you both speedy recoveries 💕

Shaker21 · 23/10/2023 08:36

Congratulations on all the babies arriving already! It feels very surreal that we are finally having baby announcements and this close now after following the threads throughout the pregnancies. Looking forward to seeing many more and hearing some birth stories 😊

I am currently 35+3 today so still got a little while to go before my due date however just have a feeling that could end up happening earlier. I have final scan today and think they will sit down with some options of induction/c section due to baby showing in the higher end of growth so will be intrigued what they suggest today and then have some decisions to make 😬

JoyApple · 23/10/2023 08:36

Many congratulations @Thack and @Spareincoming ❤️ That's wonderful news. Wishing you both speedy recoveries.

Rebs23 · 23/10/2023 08:57

How exciting all the babies starting to arrive already! Congratulations everyone xx

Spareincoming · 23/10/2023 09:12

Thanks for the warm wishes folks!
Cant quite believe how far we’ve all come!

@reememberly it’s Elma cream - https://www.weldricks.co.uk/products/emla-cream-without-dressing-surgical-pack-30g - I’d recommend the larger pack I’ve linked and I use cling film and surgical tape to make the special dressing needs for the hour it takes to work; it definitely makes things much more bearable. You’ll still bruise but I don’t usually feel anything.

@Thack I hope you’re out soon! The after pains are dreadful aren’t they! I’d forgotten about them until they started… ooof!
We’re bottle feeding and the sore, engorged boobs have started this morning. I’m maxing out the pain killers so I’ll have to find the ice packs shortly!

I was expecting to be in longer as we were so consultant heavy this pregnancy and baby was less than 10th percentile but evidently not!

The DC are very excited, it’s second week of half term here, I’ve not got the energy or patience for them being so full of beans yet so hoping MIL is going to take them to the family farm today and have them overnight as she has done previously to give us adjusting time.

Baby is settling in so well. Such a chilled out one. Last night was the easiest first night we’ve ever had and I don’t think that’s down to experience!

Congratulations to those whose babies have arrived! 💖

I have 8 days til my section and my house is still upside down … no cot up yet, I haven’t figured out the pram and that’s just the start of it, I am really feeling the pressure to get a move on!

Spareincoming · 23/10/2023 10:22

@BabyBabyBaby123 I hadn’t been as organised as planned so we got home to a cot that needed assembly- fortunately just a clip together next to me - and a hunt for the right sized cot bedding as I’d put Moses basket sized bedding in the next to me bag in the airing cupboard instead of the next to me sheets. Oops!

I know the pram tyres are flat too!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 23/10/2023 10:38

@Spareincoming I know I’ll be ok, with this being baby #3, but I felt very unprepared with DD2 and really wanted to avoid it this time, but I am so tired and just so busy with 2 DDs at home that I seem to be constantly chasing my tail!

Spareincoming · 23/10/2023 10:58

@BabyBabyBaby123 I have other DCs too so completely understand the tail chasing.
How old are yours?
Mine are all within the primary school age bracket and utterly exhausting at times.
The only advice I have going from 2 to 3 is chores and colours.
Each DC has 3 jobs to do in the day to help, one before school, one after and one before bed. Stuff like making sure PJs are not on the bathroom floor, opening/closing curtains, herding the water bottles to the counter top for washing.
Coloured - coloured laundry baskets for each child - no mixing the kids washing together - more loads but easier sorting! I have child specific coloured bedding, coat hangers, even the sew in school labels are their colour text. Wellies, hats, gloves etc are all identifiable by colour too.
New baby will be yellow coloured stuff once we’re done with the hand me downs!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 23/10/2023 11:37

@Spareincoming wow that is excellent planning!
I have a big age gap and now will have a small one, DD1 is 12 and DD2 is 21 months 🙃 but they are both exhausting in different ways!
I have kept DD2 in nursery this week while I’m home so I have a chance to sort some things, but the mum guilt is strong!

Cegbee · 23/10/2023 12:21

Thanks for tagging me to the new thread, I couldn't find it earlier. Our baby was also born on the 21st at midday at 38 weeks after a sweep the day before. Labour was fast and furious! We got discharged yesterday, all well but I'm sore and knackered! Still have to fully agree on a name. So glad he didn't wait until 40 weeks because he was 8lbs12! Also a lovely surprise to have a boy.

Sb86 · 23/10/2023 12:35

Oh @Cegbee he's gorgeous 😍 congratulations! I have a stretch & sweep Wednesday at 38weeks so who knows...we might be following suit 😅

JoyApple · 23/10/2023 12:49

@Cegbee he is gorgeous! Many congratulations 🎉

JoyApple · 23/10/2023 12:50

@Spareincoming what a great idea and so organised ... Amazing. It's great to get them used to chores from a young age.

Spareincoming · 23/10/2023 13:32

I’m never going to be off the internet at this rate, I’m embracing being nap-trapped right now and being able to browse, I usually hate it but as I’m sore and this is last baby for me, I’m totally going to make the most of it!

@Cegbee congratulations! He’s gorgeous! Well done you!

@BabyBabyBaby123 is DD1 likely to be helpful or is she at the eew babies stage? My goddaughter was 11 when her younger brother came along and she became middle child who was appalled by the very thought of a baby and how he was created… she was helpful once he was born!

@JoyApple I have a really disorganised mind so need strict order to stay on top of the world and the colour coding just works for me!
Bedding is folded into the corresponding pillow cases too and stored in the airing cupboard so it’s dead easy to grab and go when the DC are ill or have an accident in the night.

I’m a great believer in the DC having responsibilities and working as a team in the house, I don’t pay them pocket money for doing chores either as I don’t get paid for doing the chores!
The child formerly known as Littlest DC has now got the job of taking the tied up nappy bags to the utility room bin when asked and is thrilled with this job as the light switch to the utility is a broken pull cord so instead of fixing it we have a smart bulb and have to ask the Alexa to turn the light on and off and this makes it the BESTEST THING EVER! 😂

BabyBabyBaby123 · 23/10/2023 14:18

@Spareincoming she is definitely less enthusiastic about this baby than she was about her little sister, but I think it’s cos she has an idea of what is coming!
I expect her to decamp to my mum’s for a bit when I get home with baby, as she did last time.
She is generally quite organised though and keeps her room tidy-ish … She will be 13 soon and is already showing signs of the moody teenager she will become.
Means I will have terrible twos and a new teen at the same time. I obviously like a challenge!

Hi I'm looking for advise if possible , my partner has just tested positive for covid , I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant , I'm now unsure what to do as I'm pregnant and worried now . Do I stay away from him , do I need to let MAU know , I've got a scan next week and midwife and now worried I can't go , I've not got any symptoms atm which is a positive sign . I'm looking on Google but it's not much help xx

Katiec1 · 23/10/2023 14:43

@LeeanneD11 if it were me I’d contact maternity unit to get their advice or take on what to do.
keeping fingers crossed for you that it passes you🤞🏼

WriMum22 · 23/10/2023 14:43

@LeeanneD11 Try not to worry, everything will ok. Worse case scenario is you catch it and all that will mean is a couple a shitty days for you potentially not feeling well, but baby will be perfectly fine. I’ve always been advised that despite having Covid, go to your appointments but wear a mask. What I would personally advise though is speak to your midwife and see if she’s happy for you to come in, she may offer an alternative, but honestly do not worry in the slightest if you catch it, just make sure you get plenty of rest x

Thank you I appreciate your advice , let's hope I've had the vaccinations but that doesn't mean anything tbh xx
