Hey! Has anyone’s little ones refused one breast? She fed fine for 3 days then the last 2 days she’s been really fussy with one, I’ve tried different positions, helping her latch etc but it’s literally 50/50. One feed she is absolutely fine then the next she gets so worked up it upsets both of us and it’s only the one side.. definitely have plenty of milk in both of them, hoping for ideas to help her! X

Spareincoming · 20/11/2023 18:42

@Thack Baby is not the worst by a long shot on the ward, it’s frightening how poorly it’s got these little ones. The youngest is only 8 days old!

@reememberly If I’m totally honest I should have waited another few days before driving as it didn’t hurt to emergency stop or anything, but it wore me out!

@foodislife1 the parting of the scar can be were the stitches are dissolving quicker than in other places, if you’re at all concerned, speak to your midwife or GP, my last one separated but healed well, if slightly puckered where it had separated. Also, have you felt better as the bleeding has increased… aka have you been doing more as you’ve felt better and that’s led to the increase of lochia?

@Spareincoming sorry to hear about your LO. Sending you and LO best of wishes x

@Mrsrobinsonx Has LO been checked for tongue tie? Are you able to put her on the one she is refusing first when she is hungry? My LO did have one breast she preferred, and in the end, ended up using just one breast, but obviously not ideal.

@WriMum22 We have the opposite. LO slept well in crib for 1-2 weeks and now wants to be in the bed! She also wants to be held most of the day. We suspected reflux so GP told us to hold her upright for 20 min after a feed, and now she wants to be held all the time! Is it just a phase? She's also sleeping alot during the day

Anyone recommend a pillow for formula feeding please? We are trying to do the paced feeding method that the midwife and others have recommended.

@Spareincoming I hope little one is ok , sending hugs your way Xx

C section mummas - questions for you

When did you feel comfortable going for a walk?

How long after was you able to do normal activities like school runs and that

I'm on day 6, and everyone keeps telling me to not over do it .

I was put to sleep due to the trauma this time round . But I didn't think that should stop me doing my normal things .

I've been sat in doors for 6 daysu and I feel like I'm going crazy 😂😂 xx

Alloveragain3 · 20/11/2023 20:08

@LeeanneD11 I did a very slow walk about 6 or 7 days after c section. It took maybe 15 minutes and that was enough for me. I'm trying to get sunlight on baby as she is a little jaundiced, but it's far too windy out! Plus there's not been much sun.

I also had an increase in bleeding about day 7. It had almost stopped and now it's almost like I'm on my period. Apparently, this 'stop start' bleeding is to be expected, but I remember I had MUCH heavier bleeding after my last section, so I'm grateful this has been so light.

@Mrsrobinsonx My little one goes through phases of getting really fussy when offered the left breast and I think it is before my let down and she is getting impatient. She finds it harder to stay latched on that side. She can scream and pull away and it breaks my heart. Then, once she starts properly sucking and swallowing, she settles right down, as I think the letdown has happened (though I never get that 'sensation' people talk about).

A little crazy and I'm 100% getting ahead of myself, but as this was my 2nd section, I'm thinking ahead. Has anyone here had more than 2 sections? I've heard there can be increased risks, which is why I was so keen for a VBAC. Sadly wasn't to be though.

LeeanneD11 · 20/11/2023 20:12

@Alloveragain

I'm on day 6 and went for a walk to the school run and I took a slow walk, and I got judged by one of the mums saying I looked like was in pain and walking like a penguin , I got so upset , and this is my 2nd section. My bleeding is very light . But I haven't overdone it or anything . And I like to be out and about so I thought I would start somewhere . Now it's making me doubt myself about carrying on . Xx

Alloveragain3 · 20/11/2023 20:13

What a busy body! None of her business. I'd say if you feel up for it, it would do you good. Cabin fever sets in after a few days, as you say, especially with a tiny baby so I think getting out for some fresh air is so good for you.

I feel about able to drive but not going to risk it just yet. Still, I hate relying on DH for my transport.

I said the same thing to my partner , I leave baby at home and do it on my own, I was so ready to get out . It felt nice to be able to get out and about even tho it was a school run it was something . Yeah I'm the same hate relying on people to help me . Xx

Thack · 20/11/2023 20:16

@Mrsrobinsonx my LO was getting too hangry to feed around that point.
MW suggested expressing onto a clean tea spoon. That was enough to calm them down (and have a taste test!) and then they'd latch. Worked well!

@LeeanneD11 get the rest! You have had surgery less than a week ago, you are doing the best for you and your family by letting your body heal

PinkPlantCase · 20/11/2023 20:49

@Alloveragain3 my MIL had 4 c-sections! I’ve heard of some people being told that a 3rd would be risky for them but they were told that because how the surgeon found things to be as the performed the second c-section and were told this before they were discharged. So you’re probably alright if they haven’t mentioned anything.

Alloveragain3 · 20/11/2023 20:50

@PinkPlantCase Oh good to know! Thanks for getting back to me. 4 gives me hope, as we do want a big family.

Thack · 20/11/2023 21:07

@LeeanneD11 sorry, I sounded shitty there. I'd read your first post and got caught up with mini me before pressing send and I'd missed your updates. I'd assumed you had that mum guilt where you feel the need to do everything, I'm glad the others here have listened

foodislife1 · 20/11/2023 21:28

@Spareincoming yes absolutely. When I've done more physical things like holding my toddler (I know I shouldn't) I've felt more bleeding

Will get the wound checked. I think it's a fold of skin which will heal in a lumpy way unfortunately

That's ok , yeah as I'm so used to do everything like the school runs, appointments. But for another mum I. The school to say that to my friend kinda hurt a little xx

Day three I was up to it, but waited until day 4 as it was raining. Went to town for an hour and a half. It’s very hilly where I live and I was able to get back home fine. I havnt stopped since! People have told me to slow down but I’m 3 weeks pp today and I’ve felt great and still do.

However, this is a vast contrast from my last c section (both planned). I could never have attempted even a little walk on day 3/4. I would really go with what your body tells you.

LeeanneD11 · 20/11/2023 22:31

@GreenAventurinee

I'm on a hill too. And managed it fine I only did a school run which was a 15 mins walk both ways . And was walking slow. And my kids was walking at my pace too. My scar doesn't hurt at all when I touch it just so tender from the injections that's all. My body was telling me to start somewhere xx

Spareincoming · 21/11/2023 05:31

Morning all. Give your babies and bumps a snuggle for me please because I can’t cuddle mine, my little one has been transferred to critical care and right now they’ve said I can’t be there with them until they’ve done all the assessments, observations and got all the lines and tubes in.
I’ve been sent to a room to sleep and funnily enough I can’t sleep!

Thack · 21/11/2023 05:51

@Spareincoming sending cuddles to you and little one.
Try to rest and get some food, you must be shattered too

PinkPlantCase · 21/11/2023 07:11

Awh @Spareincoming so sorry to hear 😩 hopefully this is the part where things get a bit worse just before they get better. It must be so difficult being separated.

DollyGx · 21/11/2023 10:00

@Spareincoming that’s so hard, can’t imagine how you are feeling. Bub is in the best place and will be getting very well looked after. I hope you can get in to see them soon🤞🏼 in the meantime as @Thack has said try to rest up (easier said than done!) and get some food in you. Thinking of you ❤️

GreenAventurinee · 21/11/2023 10:44

Oh @Spareincoming I hope baby is back with you soon. Thinking of you 💜

reememberly · 21/11/2023 11:43

Thinking of you @Spareincoming - that sounds incredibly difficult. I hope you’re reunited soon.

Katiec1 · 21/11/2023 13:24

@Spareincoming sorry to hear, hoping you and little one will be reunited very soon!

Well I had my final midwife appointment this morning and it did not go the way I had hoped.
I was hoping and praying for a sweep but unfortunately cervix (although it has has softened) is still closed and sweep couldn’t be done.
I feel so deflated and bummed about it as I was really hoping for VBAC this time round as it’ll be my last pregnancy.
i don’t think luck will be on my side for anything to change before section on Friday😢.
It’s strange cause I know baby will be here by Friday and I should be so happy but I can’t help feeling upset about how she’ll be delivered.

Hoping all the new little babas and new mums are keeping well x
