C section mamas - How long did it take for your milk to come in? I had an emergency c section 3 days ago and no milk yet, although it seems like my boobs might be a bit harder today. The last time I woke up with massive boobs on day three so I was kind of expecting that now too.

Mine came in a day later , as I put my little on the boob as soon as he was here , I'm on day 5 now. I would do some hand expressing to see how you get on with it or put little one on the boob and see how you get on xx

And I had a c section too xx

@LeeanneD11 oh that was fast! I’ve definitely got colostrum ( can see it if she is sick and on all the wet and dirty nappies), baby girl is on it constantly so hopefully it won’t be long!

I know very quick, well hopefully it works out my little one is struggling to latch on so I'm pumping instead xx

Thack · 19/11/2023 11:00

Congrats @DollyGx (and anyone else I've missed, these babies are coming thick and fast!), How're you settling?

That sounds like a mare @JD90 Have they given you any pain relief?

We had a rough sleep patch around the 2-3 week mark. Cosleeping saved me, we got back in the basket after a few days.

How are the mummy to be s holding up? Hello to anyone reading who hasn't posted yet, I hope your Nov due babies are doing well (whether in or out!)

Katiec1 · 19/11/2023 11:09

@Thack still here and waiting (40+2 today) baby has dropped a bit and feeling a little bit more pressure down below but that’s about all 😩 booked in for a sweep on Tuesday so I’m keeping everything crossed it works, otherwise it’ll be a section on Friday.
either way I suppose it’s not long to go…I’m just very impatient x

WriMum22 · 19/11/2023 11:16

@Travellingislife i think my milk came in on day 5/6, it was definitely later than my last section. It was in on day 3 last time

Day 9 for me!

PinkPlantCase · 19/11/2023 13:13

@Thack I’m 40 weeks tomorrow!

It’s definitely getting closer but I still have no idea if that means tomorrow or another weeks time 😂 I’m just hopeful that baby will be born November and not December!

JD90 · 19/11/2023 14:04

@Thack yeah been having regular paracetamol, oramorph and one lot of pethidine. Just being monitored again to see if we can get me in the bath, which would be great but the more I move the more contractions I get.

Spareincoming · 19/11/2023 16:17

@Travellingislife Day 4 for me!

Bad news from us, we’re about to transfer to a larger hospital as DC has a respiratory infection. Pretty common at this time of year in newborns but with their underlying condition they need to be monitored in a paeds unit. We’ve been here before with other DC but still no less horrid.

DollyGx · 19/11/2023 16:34

@Travellingislife lol I like the hot water bottle on the mattress idea! I’ve been warming wipes up on the radiator before using them on her, she’s such a princess already! 🤣 but yeah you’re right, it’s all very new and must be so scary for them.

@Spareincoming sorry to hear that, what a worry for you. Really hope little one is on the mend soon🤞🏼

Thack · 19/11/2023 20:57

@Spareincoming wishing bab a speedy recovery. Is the unit far from you?

Hope your body has got in the swing of it now @JD90

Spareincoming · 19/11/2023 21:10

Thanks @DollyGx and @Thack.
We’ve ended up over the border as everywhere is at capacity with the same virus!
We’re about an hour from home, too far for DH to come down on a school evening, so it’s bare minimum stuff until he’s dropped the DC at childcare tomorrow and bring us supplies! I’ve told him to bring me a slab of dairy milk!

Hope you're hanging in there @Spareincoming, that's really tough. Hope DC gets better soon x

Rebs23 · 20/11/2023 08:15

@Spareincoming bless you that sounds really tough! I hope bub is on the mend soon xx

Spareincoming · 20/11/2023 09:12

Thanks @Rebs23 and @Crazybrowncow unfortunately as it’s an RSV related illness it’s likely to get worse in the next 48 hours and baby is already struggling so will be having a feeding tube fitted soon. Sounds awful but I’m glad we’ve done this before, it was terrifying first time round, at least I know what’s coming!

Alloveragain3 · 20/11/2023 10:37

@GreenAventurinee Mine was day 5 with DS and day 3 this time, so I think it can vary. Once my boobs felt hard it came in really soon after.

@Spareincoming I hope you and baba are doing OK, I know it can be hugely stressful in the hospital but hopefully you're home soon xx

reememberly · 20/11/2023 12:19

Gosh @Spareincoming that sounds really difficult. Glad your experience is helping you cope, but sure it’s not something that gets significantly easier. Hope your little one starts improving as soon as possible.

Congratulations on all the new babies - getting hard to keep up! Sounds like a few more coming soon too, good luck to those waiting.

Feel like progress is still really slow for me, couple of days off 3 weeks since my section and still finding it tough to get about although managing a bit more each day. Bleeding is worse than it was earlier on and pelvic pain hasn’t gone yet. Trying to be patient but it is frustrating. Same story with feeding troubles - am seeing improvement but it’s still really difficult. Hoping baby will be back to birth weight and midwife will sign us off today. Trying to just accept the pace and enjoy all the extra snuggling time with baby! But anyone else finding recovery this slow? I feel like the only one.

Spareincoming · 20/11/2023 13:17

@reememberly and @Alloveragain3 Thank you for the good wishes, we’re being well looked after - I am being regularly offered coffee and snacks which does make it easier, the HCA said there’s about 70% babies on the ward. Poor wee mites.

@reememberly My recovery was very slow this time, bleeding got heavier around week three, I’m now 4 weeks 2 days and feel the best I have done but still have over doing it aches and pains when doing basic stuff. The raise up hospital bed was actually a luxury this morning!

Travellingislife · 20/11/2023 15:25

@Spareincoming my thoughts are with you, it’s so difficult when the little ones are in hospital! I hope you are getting to go home soon.

@reememberly it doesn’t sound right to me, can you contact your gp and see what they say?

Travellingislife · 20/11/2023 15:31

@reememberly regarding breastfeeding, it is really difficult! I thought I’d be smashing it this time around but I’m finding it hard, very painful!
Did you see a lactation specialist? Your trust might have people to send out and I’ve found them really helpful.

Thack · 20/11/2023 15:34

@reememberly 3 weeks is not long since, what I would call, major surgery! Take it easy, it is early days, your body is healing as it needs to.

@Spareincoming my friend's 4mo got out of hospital last week with rsv. They had a feeding tube and O2, it is tough going. We had a few days in for something else, I was going Stir crazy but did enjoy weetabix in bed and no washing up!

reememberly · 20/11/2023 16:42

@Spareincoming glad they’re looking after you. Interesting about the bleeding getting worse at the same point. I was thinking of you driving at 3 weeks and I’m definitely not ready for that, but I am getting about a little better today, so hoping improvement will pick up quickly.
Thanks @Thack and @Travellingislife too. Midwife came out to see me this afternoon and gave me a pretty thorough check over. She doesn’t think there’s anything to worry about, just that they had to be quite rough to stop a haemorrhage during the section and so bruising and swelling a bit more extensive. Feel better for the reassurance though.

foodislife1 · 20/11/2023 18:17

@Spareincoming It's a really tricky time for babies at the moment with RSV. Hope little one is doing well.

I occasionally get random pain over scar and have noticed some of it has opened up but isn't bleeding or oozing?! Happened to anyone else?

And have also noticed heavier bleeding after day 7..all of a sudden but has since tapered off.
Currently trying to navigate the napping/sleeping as baby wants to be held all the time :/
