@TMI2000 that sounds promising, hoping things get moving for you 🤞🏼

@LilmissCa hoping you feel better soon, sounds like the worst of it is behind you! It’s great that you have the option for induction, I have to go naturally before 41 wks or it’s a section. I’m praying for natural 🤞🏼hopefully it’ll go well for you with midwife tomorrow

@Mrsrobinsonx same for you too x

Home stretch ladies 💪🏻

Spareincoming · 13/11/2023 18:42

@Chellooo will he have a dream feed at all? That’s a long time for newborn to go; I always aim for around the 4 hour mark until they’ve gained their birth weight again.

We’re trying the reflux medication route as of now. Quite entertaining at the Drs, whilst waiting for the prescription the power went off and it’s been off ever since so we’re having an evening by torch light tonight!

Congratulations @Chellooo

Hope it's the start of things for you ladies
@Katiec1 @Mrsrobinsonx

I get to meet my little boy tomorrow 2 weeks early , I'm so excited and nervous at the same time due to having a c section xx

Katiec1 · 13/11/2023 19:59

@LeeanneD11 oh very exciting!! Is this your 1st section?
i had a section on my twins (7 years ago) and I was honestly dreading it beforehand, but I have to say it was so calm and staff were great, made to feel at ease all the way through!
Wishing you all the luck for tomorrow x

My 2nd one , my last one was emergency but this one is planned , thank you 🙏, I'm hoping for better experience this time round and recovery too due to having older children at home xx

JD90 · 13/11/2023 21:07

So unexpected positive news with the doc today, baby has picked up a bit again. Granted only just hitting 16th centile but enough for them to be happy to not go for early delivery. Got offered induction (if I wanted) at either 40 or 41 weeks, and went with 40, so 25th. But it's obviously not a firm booked in, I just have to wait for a phone call on the day to let me know if they have space or not. If it happens naturally before then, then great, if not there's a plan in place. So now I just sit and wait for the next 12 days and see what happens...

JoyApple · 14/11/2023 03:43

@Spareincoming out of interest, what did gp prescribe? And what made him rule out CMPA?

I'm pretty convinced especially at this hour that little one has cmpa ..

Spareincoming · 14/11/2023 07:16

@JoyApple We’ve got a 2 week prescription for gaviscon, if there’s not a significant improvement we’ll be prescribed omeprazole.

He pretty much ruled out CMPA as he didn’t think the spots were cmpa, he did a lot of stethoscope listening and concluded baby has a soft larynx which can be heard when baby is held a certain way and this usually goes hand in hand with reflux, we’re likely to get a referral for that; he also said as baby filled a nappy during the appointment that it didn’t smell like a CMPA nappy! As I know about his child suffering quite badly, I’ll take that one!
He did say that we could try a milk like Aptimil Pepti for 3-4 weeks if that would reassure us but I said I’d give the gaviscon route a try as I know it’s effective quickly if it’s going to be.

We’ve had a better night - 5 hours undisturbed- after 3 bottles with added gaviscon but aren’t fooling ourselves that this is the instant solution and know it may lead to constipation, no sign of that yet though. The nappy custard continues.

And we’re still without power!

Congratulations @Chellooo and good luck for today @LeeanneD11!

Good news @JD90 and not too long to wait, but hopefully all starts sooner anyway.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 14/11/2023 10:26

Baby was weighed again this morning and has gained again, so he’s 6lb 10.5oz which is back to less than 5% weight loss. Midwife is coming back to weigh him in 1 week’s time.

Let’s not even discuss the fact that my husband was out dropping DD2 off at nursery and I was still in bed when she knocked and put a nighty on that had sick on the shoulder …

Thack · 14/11/2023 10:45

@BabyBabyBaby123 you are legit allowed to, no MUST have baby vomit on you at all times and have your bra/breast hanging out for the postman at least once. Please maintain this standard or I will be very disappointed in you!! 😉

Congrats @Chellooo a few of us have seen slow gains with breastfeeding, it is normal but care is led by numbers. Did you manage to feed in the night? They soon settle back to sleep on the boob, do what you gotta do!

Good luck @LeeanneD11

Those hoping to be offered a sweep by midwives - don't be afraid to ask! You have a say in your care too.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 14/11/2023 11:05

@Thack I flashed the postman when DD2 was a baby and he politely stood at the door and had a lovely chat with me with my boob hanging out …

JoyApple · 14/11/2023 12:10

@Spareincoming sorry to hear about your power, hope it's back now.

Thanks for sharing that, that's very helpful to know. I think I'd like to try Gaviscon first too before pepti, although would be good to have prescription for both.

The spots on my LO's face don't look like hives, but maybe it develops into that? Nappies also seem very normal. It has been a rough night for us and DH is back to work in a few days :(

I need to write down all the symptoms, I have midwife coming in a bit and later have a GP appointment. I think I'm going to push for a referral too ...

Thack · 14/11/2023 12:28

😂😂😂 @BabyBabyBaby123 maybe we should avoid ordering online for a few weeks!

PinkPlantCase · 14/11/2023 12:31

@JoyApple no idea about other symptoms but a slightly spotty newborn is completely normal as their skin works out how to be skin! I’m sure DS had a peeling stage too.

I’m 39+1 and so excited to meet baby! I’m finding it hard today to feel patient. Not knowing if they’ll come in 2 days time, or 2 weeks or 3! I’ve been joking that whatever happens they’ll definitely be here by Christmas 🥴 I also don’t really know what to do with myself, DS doesn’t sleep through so I’m extra tired but also feeling quite bored not doing anything but also feeling like I really need the rest of not doing anything.

Best of luck for today @LeeanneD11

DollyGx · 14/11/2023 12:35

Good luck today @LeeanneD11 hope all goes well 🤞🏼I started having contractions at about 6am this morning but they’ve tapered off a bit now so not sure if baby will arrive today or not…

Mrsrobinsonx · 14/11/2023 13:29

So had my sweep today! 39+5, they said baby’s head is really low and cervix soft. 2-3cm, which I was when induced with my second so they didn’t seem to think that means anything soon. Booked in for another on Friday, does this sound good? can’t wait to meet this baby 😂 x

Katiec1 · 14/11/2023 14:03

@LeeanneD11 best of luck for today!!

@Mrsrobinsonx hopefully the sweep will be enough to get things moving 🤞🏼

I had my appointment today, midwife seems to think things are going in the right direction as I’ve been getting a lot of pressure and the cramps at night. Baby’s head is down, still a tiny bit up so will be doing a lot of ball bouncing and walking over the next few days. Back next Tuesday (if no baby by then) to have my sweep.

@DollyGx hopefully its the start of something for you 🤞🏼

LeeanneD11 · 14/11/2023 14:08

Hi everyone! My little boy was born this morning via c section we are doing well, and we have managed to do some breast feeding which is good . He weighed 7lb 7oz which I'm happy about

Hope everyone else is doing well xx

PinkPlantCase · 14/11/2023 14:08

@Mrsrobinsonx exciting! Did they write a bishops score in your notes? That’ll tell you a bit more about how close things might be.

Spareincoming · 14/11/2023 14:10

@JoyApple You can buy Pepti at a few supermarkets to trial it but it’s not cheap!
Hope the midwife and GP are prepared to listen - I’m almost disappointed that I had an easy appointment with the GP as I had prepared myself to be all assertive!

Power is on, sort of, our end of the village is on a generator apparently. I don’t mind, the perfect prep and rapid steriliser are back in service! Cold water sterilising yesterday and this morning was a time waster I didn’t need!

Mrsrobinsonx · 14/11/2023 14:14

@PinkPlantCase it says 6 which is apparently normal for this stage. I’m having tightenings but nothing too bad!

@LeeanneD11 congratulations on your little boy! Hope you’re ok x

Thack · 14/11/2023 15:36

Congratulations @LeeanneD11 I hope you are recovering well ❤️

@Mrsrobinsonx I was 3cm when they went to do my induction. That's too dilated to bother with the pessary so they were able to just break my waters. So it should be an easier route for you if it does go that way.

LeeanneD11 · 14/11/2023 16:26

Thank you @Thack , recovering really well slowly getting there but that's to be expected 💙
