@Psqueak87

Both acupuncture and reflexology helped me getting pregnant too, I’m a big believer!

Your baby might not be ready yet and then maybe nothing will help encourage labour? I hope you won’t have to be induced, unless it’s the best option for you of course.

My son didn’t engage until I was in active labour I think so it could happen very late and this baby isn’t engaged either yet..

UnwieldyRhombus · 02/11/2023 14:57

@LilmissCa Thank you! Feeling a lot better about it today. These things happen, I think I was a bit taken aback about how suddenly it all changed. Hyping myself up for labour and then suddenly there's a baby on my chest 😅

@WriMum22 Yes exactly! 😆 Thank you, you made me feel better ❤️ Postpartum hormones are wild!

@Psqueak87 Thank you! Successfully got like 3 hours of sleep last night so we are well on our way 😅

UnwieldyRhombus · 02/11/2023 14:59

Thanks @Thack, I did Birth Afterthoughts with my first which was also a difficult birth but for completely different reasons! I think it was helpful to get some clarity on it all so I'll look into again ❤️

UnwieldyRhombus · 02/11/2023 15:01

Those of you with PGP, you have my sympathy and empathy. If it's any consolation, I was struggling with it a lot in the last few weeks and it seems to have either largely or completely (bit hard to tell for sure) cleared up since delivering so hopefully there's only a few days or weeks left of this pain for you too ❤️

DollyGx · 02/11/2023 19:38

@UnwieldyRhombus that gives me hope, thanks!! It’s bloody miserable limping about 😬

TMI2000 · 02/11/2023 20:34

@UnwieldyRhombus needed this today 😂 this is my first and the pgp has been so painful at times, I can only dread what real labour will feel like!😂

WriMum22 · 02/11/2023 22:43

i second @UnwieldyRhombus, I had really bad PGP, at the end I was in agony and I’m now almost 3 days post birth and the pain is gone, it went straight away. Such a relief

Chellooo · 03/11/2023 08:27

In for a second sweep today ladies, hoping this little one starts to make his appearance 🙈

PinkPlantCase · 03/11/2023 08:29

@LeeanneD11 how are you doing now ❤️

All good everything is fine with baby heart rate is good and movements are are good but if anything changes I have to go straight up , it was scary ❤️

Psqueak87 · 03/11/2023 12:34

@LeeanneD11 that’s a scary thing to happen! Glad you and baby ok ❤️

Spareincoming · 03/11/2023 12:48

@LeeanneD11 so glad to see your update; I had similar in a previous pregnancy, and got all the emotions rushing back for you!
Same thing of on the school run, but it was a big dog jumping up at me and sending me flying and everyone panicked around me, their panic made me panic and baby went still… as was fine though and that baby is a lovable, nursery attending nuisance now!

We have another new arrival! Baby boy, as yet unnamed, arrived at 10:20 this morning 😊 was a very straightforward and fairly speedy delivery apart from the placenta taking far too long to come away, I finally managed to get it out just as they were getting ready to take me to theatre. Bloody knackered now so will probably stay in one night but otherwise DS3 (blimey) and I are doing well.

Thack · 03/11/2023 14:57

A big welcome to your little boy @AngeloMysterioso congratulations!
Were you much quicker than for your first two DC? I was in shock after this one, so speedy.

Glad all is well @LeeanneD11 . Take it easy (as much as that's possible with the biggies running around!)

GreenAventurinee · 03/11/2023 15:03

Congrats @AngeloMysterioso !

Midwife has just been for our girl. She’s dropped down to 5lb 6oz now at four days old and is a little jaundice, but otherwise doing great. They are taking my c section dressing off tomorrow which I am dreading! I’m feeling great, a lot more active after this C-section and decided to venture out this morning for her first walk which was lovely.

Here she is, my tiny girl, very disappointed in me for letting the midwife prick her heel.

Psqueak87 · 03/11/2023 15:41

@AngeloMysterioso congratulations ❤️

@GreenAventurinee what a cute lil baby!

If I go off conception date then today is my due date, although officially on paper it’s the 5th, as my doctor calculated it from LMP.

Still no signs from her that she is anywhere near wanting to meet us yet! Lol.

My partner finishes work today, the due date is actually great timing as he’s a landscaper and he finishes the season every year around this time. He usually gets a snow removal job for winter, but this year I convinced him to take the 5-6 months off, and I’m so happy he finally agreed! He has way more baby experience than me, the only baby I’ve ever even held is the fake one at my prenatal class 🥴

JD90 · 03/11/2023 16:00

@Psqueak87 that's so amazing that you both get to have time off together! I'd be making the most of it and having some nice little date nights until bub makes an appearance, even if its just making a nice meal at home together and watching a film. My OH is only able to take a couple of days off when baby arrives which is mega shitty, unfortunately due to how his work contract works he'd only get stat pay for 2 weeks and thanks to some unexpected bills/outgoings/illness we just can't afford for him to do that. Ah well such is life!
I am well and truly over being sick though, been pretty much stuck in bed for over a week now, I definitely feel better than I did but I'm still struggling to do anything I actually want to, including sleep so only getting about 3 hours (split into hour long chunks) each night. Urgh!

Psqueak87 · 03/11/2023 16:18

@JD90 yeah it really worked out perfect. Because he is technically “laid off” after today, he’s entitled to the Canadian equivalent of job seekers allowance. Which is actually pretty good here. If I had given birth mid season he wouldn’t really have been entitled to much, he would have had to keep working. We get 40 weeks parental leave pay from the gov. Which he is entitled to half of, so we could have taken 20 weeks each, but then I wouldn’t have been paid for all of my scheduled leave from work. This way, I’m still entitled to take the full 40 weeks, whereas he is on his own separate job seekers dole.

With us both on the dole for the next 6 months, we have taken a huge pay loss, we will be making around 20% what we would usually bring in, but fortunately we have very low outgoings. And should be able to just dip into savings every now and again. I’ve never been so happy that we don’t have a mortgage payment every month, we ALMOST bought our first house at the start of the year. Our mortgage payment plus council tax on it would have been close to $4000 per month, whereas our rent is only $800 per month. As much as I would love my own place right now, it has taken a lot of stress off!

Im also not getting much sleep. I seem to have a small burst of energy at midnight, and so go for a walk around the house, usually have a snack, and then try and go back to bed around 2am, I may get a few hours Kip but always wake around 6am, then I’m well and truly f**ked for the rest of the day and just get in and out of bed!

LilmissCa · 03/11/2023 16:40

@LeeanneD11 what a relief! Such a worry!

@AngeloMysterioso congratulations!! Def rest up now in hospital!

@GreenAventurinee she is just gorgeous ❤️

Thack · 03/11/2023 21:39

@Psqueak87 that sounds so lovely to have a good amount of time together ❤️

The first nappy I'd ever changed was DC1, I had no baby experience at all and over covid there were no classes or groups.

You will be fine! By the end of the first week you will have changed dozens of nappies. Babies are very robust, they have to be hardy to get though childbirth.
