My baby boy arrived on 1.11.23 a day before his due date, weighing a gorgeous 7lb2oz & I am besotted!
I went into labour at 11pm in 30.10.23 - contracting very 5/6 mins, getting more and more intense until 5am when I decided to go to hospital where I found out my cervix wasn’t open, although they confirmed I was in labour, it was a case of taking a codeine & heading back home to continue!
The pains were immense by 5pm & hospital advised I go back for gas & air & another examination. A super busy triage meant I didn’t get seen for any pain relief until about 930pm - when they offered another vagina and examination - still not open! But due to the contractions on the CTG they told me to go for a walk and come back at 11pm for a potential induction, which I agreed to! At 11pm they did a sweep & I was now 1cm & advised I now I should go for straight epidural, no induction & have my waters broken to push the contractions on & dilate. I agreed.. at 5am 31.10.23 I finally had a room & gas & air for the horrendous contractions, the epidural was fitted about 7am & waters broken too about 8am. I was left to contract until midday & then checked again… still only 1cm 😩
So now due to days in labour, my contractions now averaging 4/5 in 10 mins and really intense, they advised I go for c-section as babies heart beat was dropping regularly with the stress from the constant contractions over such a long period.
I was initially gutted & cried so much, not due to a C-section now being the way I would give birth, but cos I hadn’t ate or slept since it started Monday evening & I had laboured through so much! I felt a bit defeated by my body.
Anyway, moral of my long story - I got gowned up, and had my gorgeous boy, Dexter, in my arms by 1.15pm on 1.11.23 & I could not be more in love with him or proud of what my body did to get him here!
Apologies for the ramble - but best of luck & love to all still due to meet their babies 🤍
