Congrats all on the birth of your babies 🥰 my little boy arrived 25th October at 38+2. Xx

foodislife1 · 31/10/2023 08:14

Congrats to all the new arrivals! 💕💕

Has anyone had their planned VBAC yet out of curiosity?
I had a sweep yesterday but cervix was too posterior and high...so I think I'll be headed for another section :(

Sb86 · 31/10/2023 09:10

Good luck for today @WriMum22 and @BabyBabyBaby123 🥰

I had another stretch and sweep yesterday and it was more successful than last weeks. My body is definitely responding to it but nothing significant, I'm in tomorrow for my induction anyway but was hopeful something would happen before that. I'll be using my birthing ball today and mooching about so fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Sb86 · 31/10/2023 09:14

Blooming eck...should read everything before I comment 😅 congratulations @WriMum22 and welcome to the world little Poppy 💞 also congratulations to @spanglesj on the safe arrival of Grace 💞

Sounds promising @Mldn good luck 🥰

Sb86 · 31/10/2023 09:17

Congratulations @Oreopie on the birth of your baby boy 💙

@foodislife1 mine is a VBAC so will let you know how it goes, really hopeful for a natural birth but as long as baby arrives safely that's obviously the most important thing x

Travellingislife · 31/10/2023 12:21

@Psqueak87 What a tough night and a hard decision for you to make. I agree with @PinkPlantCase that you need to ask a lot of questions and get statistics from research papers and from the hospital to be able to make an informed decision. I know they push you towards an induction and treat a lot of women the same even though their circumstances are very different. I don’t want an induction unless the baby is in danger and I’ve done a lot of research about it so I feel comfortable saying no to it if I need to when my induction day comes around. Hope you get the information you need today and that it all goes well!

@Travellingislife @PinkPlantCase thanks so much for the advice! I asked a few of those questions last night and they said it all mostly depended on what my cervix was doing at that time. I haven’t had it checked yet, but I was supposed to be getting it checked today by my OB so hopefully he can answer some of the questions more accurately then.

baby movements have been regular since I got home, not as aggressive as usual, but definitely more than the 6 per 2 hours they want me to count.

im wondering if I was dehydrated or something yesterday as I’ve had an awful headache all night. Not sure if that can reduce movement. Anyways I’m off to my OB appointment and pretty sure I’ll be saying no to an induction unless he gives me real reasons or seems genuinely worried about the risk to baby.

Thack · 31/10/2023 14:14

Wonderful news @Oreopie and @spanglesj I hope you are recovering well.

@Psqueak87 the NHS have a acronym that is helpful when asking questions/making decisions B. R. A. I. N = benefits, risks, alternatives, implications and nothing. Fingers crossed you can keep cooking a little longer!

Psqueak87 · 31/10/2023 15:52

Just finished with doc, went great actually. I’m really glad I have him as my OB.

baby had been moving lots in the hour wait to see him, he said he really wants me to go into labour naturally (up to 41 weeks). So if she’s moving this morning he’s happy to let me wait, but if I wanted to he would induce me.

he booked me for a proper more detailed ultrasound tomorrow morning to check fluid levels. But he said the return of movements was promising.

he said he would give me a sweep either if I wanted, but he still doesn’t really believe they do much, so I declined and said I would gladly go home to bed instead.

perfect outcome really. Thanks all for the advice. Hopefully a less eventful evening ahead.

JD90 · 31/10/2023 16:07

@Psqueak87 that's great news! Glad you got the outcome you were hoping for.

PinkPlantCase · 31/10/2023 18:06

@Psqueak87 Awh that’s great! Glad you have such a supportive OB, it can definitely go either way!

Hope you can get round to relaxing now!

GreenAventurinee · 31/10/2023 19:15

Those who have had sections, how was day two for you?

TMI2000 · 31/10/2023 21:37

I have been feeling crampy on and off this evening, especially when laying on my side but it gets better when changing positions and it’s like a sharp cramp in my pelvis and sometimes a dull ache towards my back. Could this be things getting going or just a sign that I’m doing too much and need to slow down? I’m only 37+2 but this is my first so no clue what to look out for!

I've been feeling the same for the last few days , I'm only 36+3, I can't get comfortable the pressure in my bum and lower back are a dull ache and the cramping is on and off too , I've been told to slow down and rest but you can't do that when you have 2 kids at home too , it's impossible 😂, maybe our bodies are getting ready for things as we near to the end xx

BabyBabyBaby123 · 01/11/2023 01:50

Introducing Baby Oisín, born 31st October at 12:55.
I am feeling pretty good, c section took a while due to excess scar tissue and I had my tubes tied at the same time, which also took a long time, but I’m not in as much pain as I was expecting.

I am going to cherish every moment with him, as he is definitely my last!
I am wide awake still, although I’m exhausted, as I really can’t settle in the hospital, I am hoping that we will be well enough to go home asap.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 01/11/2023 01:52

I forgot to mention, he was born at 38 weeks exactly and weighed 7lb 1oz 💙

JD90 · 01/11/2023 02:11

@BabyBabyBaby123 Congratulations! He is absolutely adorable

Thack · 01/11/2023 03:04

@BabyBabyBaby123 he is awesome, well done!

Those getting to day 2, it's a fussy one for baby. 'second night syndrome'. If you are breastfeeding they'll be on and off a lot to stimulate your milk to come in.

Psqueak87 · 01/11/2023 03:27

@BabyBabyBaby123 congratulations on your beautiful baby boy and I love your name choice ❤️

LilmissCa · 01/11/2023 04:06

Congratulations @WriMum22 & @spanglesj on the birth of your daughters 💖

And congratulations to @Oreopie & @BabyBabyBaby123 on the birth of your sons 💙

So many babies in the last few days!

@Psqueak87 hopefully your appt today goes well in terms of fluid etc & the OB happy for you to still wait
I'm on the same page with inductions, know I'm going to get it offered on my appt on Friday, but a bit scared of an induction tbh!

Psqueak87 · 01/11/2023 06:05

@LilmissCa thank you! How far along will you be when offered? I know I will likely take it when offered at 41 weeks, but until then I’ll continue to turn it down unless there appears to be a good medical reason. I’m so happy I turned it down last night, although I know I could technically have my baby here with me now if I hadn’t!

Spareincoming · 01/11/2023 07:32

@GreenAventurinee I always find day 2 and 3 and their nights are the worst! Then a random rough day around 7 or 8.
We’re day 11 now and mostly human again!

GreenAventurinee · 01/11/2023 07:53

@Spareincoming last night was night two. When I say I feel soooo much better today I mean it. Really felt like they discharged me and threw me in at the deep end yesterday.

Baby is still not taking a lot of mls and I don’t think she would ever get fed if we waited for her cues! She seems happy and healthy though. I’ve honestly never felt happier.

Congratulations and welcome to all the October November babies haha. And happy official due date month to those still waiting on their beautiful babies.

Spareincoming · 01/11/2023 07:59

@GreenAventurinee we were discharged super quick this time too; my community midwife said it’s a throwback from covid, get you up and out super quick!

As long as she’s feeding consistently, little and often is fine - this one is a milk monster but I’ve had it the other way too, a little and often feeder who you’d never think had been that way if you saw them now!

Enjoy these first few days, too many people love to tell their horror stories but it can be and often is such a lovely time.
