Hi Ladies, so my waters broke tonight, little lady has decided now is the time she would like
to come and maybe even be an Halloween baby. 36 and 6 today, so earlier than we thought but excited to meet her. Just in hospital now waiting for the consultant, no pains yet! X

I hope it goes well . I'm expecting this one to be early like his sister did she came at 36+4, but his very snug against my placenta lol when I had a scan today he is very low down though , keep us updated . And you had a section booked for 14th too xxx

WriMum22 · 30/10/2023 21:31

@LeeanneD11 my son did the exact same thing as this little one, waters went at 37 and 6 with him, so your may very well follow his little sister. Yes section was booked for 14th and been in hospital since weekend due to bleeding, was literally packing my bag on the ward to go home and felt a pop. Just waiting for the consultant so we can review and prep for emergency section x

Oh wow , she wants to meet you all earlier than the 14th , she will soon be in your arms and you have cuddles 2 weeks earlier , it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to come before his section date which is the 14th also xx

Thack · 30/10/2023 22:02

Good luck @WriMum22, baby has good timing!

GreenAventurinee · 30/10/2023 22:09

Good luck @WriMum22 . 😀

Psqueak87 · 30/10/2023 22:18

@GreenAventurinee shes so adorable!

@BabyBabyBaby123 good luck for tomorrow

@WriMum22 good luck to you too.

and thanks everyone for the anecdotes on symptoms of labour (or lack of, lol) it’s made me feel a bit better as it seemed it was only me experiencing none from the other group I’m in. Going to TRY to relax for a few days, although I’ve told the ladies at work that I’ll be bringing them in a lil picnic of charcuterie and home baked cakes on Wednesday as a thanks for the baby shower. Only the baby coming early can save me now!

Spareincoming · 30/10/2023 23:10

Congratulations @GreenAventurinee!

Best wishes to @BabyBabyBaby123 and @WriMum22

We’ve a good few October babies now!

Pretty sure I am in labour! Woah, so nervous now. Have had a few signs the last week - loss of mucus plug & back ache etc. Last night about 7pm the pain in my back was constant & ran down my legs too. Then about 11pm woke up with horrendous “period pains” that have been coming every 5/6 mins & lasting about 90 seconds since. Giving it another hour or so then gonna ring the hospital! I’m so in denial 😅

Due date is Thursday - all throughout my pregnancy I’ve said “I hope baby boy isn’t born on Halloween” … we shall see x

Thack · 31/10/2023 03:36

Sounds positive @Mldn !@Mldn ! Good luck

WriMum22 · 31/10/2023 03:56

Update: Our beautiful daughter Poppy was born at 01:55am via c-section on 31/10/2023 at 37 weeks, weighing 6oz on the dot.

My little Halloween baby 🎃

She’s so cute @GreenAventurinee 😍😍 congratulations to you and @WriMum22 hope your first nights with baby have been okay.

Best of luck @Mldn ! You’ll be meeting baby soon, it sounds like you’re body’s spend the last week getting ready 😁

I’m not due until the 20th so it’ll be a while for me yet but today is my last day of work! I’ve been feeling all the feelings. I’m so ready to be done with it and have time to just rest but it still doesn’t feel great to be leaving.

Psqueak87 · 31/10/2023 05:55

I’m just home from L&D. It’s midnight Canada time! Realised at about 4pm after a busy day that I hadn’t felt the baby move since last night so I went to lie down to see if it helped me feel anything; still no movements. So after I cooked dinner I lay down again and ate some icecream. But after an hour still hadn’t felt anything, so finally decided to take myself over there.

They were all so lovely and hooked me up to the machines straight away. Baby’s heart rate was at 150ish most of the time, they were happy with that. And fetal movements were showing on the monitor but I still couldn’t feel anything. They said they didn’t want me to leave until I felt 6 movements. About an hour hooked up and I’d felt around 3 movements. Then they brought a little portable ultrasound machine in. They said amniotic fluid was on the low side of normal, and they saw baby practice breathing, swallowing and some movements on it.

Then I started feeling normal movements and I was soon up to feeling 8 or 9 by the time I had been there 90 mins.

The OB working that night then came in and she said at over 39 weeks, if it was up to her she would induce me there and then. She said the fact it took me so long to feel movements could be a sign something was wrong.

I have an appointment with my regular OB at 8am though (in 8 hours) so I asked if there was any harm me seeing him first to see what he thinks. She said she felt comfortable with that, and that he might send me for a proper more detailed ultrasound, or suggest the same.

Any advice? I’ve been against getting an induction unless really necessary. And I know I’ve been wishing the baby out, but with her heart rate remaining in the “good” zone for the entire time, amniotic fluid looking low but still in the normal range. And the fetal monitor picking up lots of movement, I just didn’t see why I would do it tonight!

Me not feeling movements indicating something “may be wrong” felt like a wishy washy reason to do an induction, as the monitor was picking movement up.

We will see what my OB says tomorrow, but I’ve a feeling he will side with the one I spoke to tonight as he has told me before that he would induce everyone at 39 weeks if it was up to him.

PinkPlantCase · 31/10/2023 07:29

@Psqueak87 what a night you’ve had! 🙈

It’s such a personal decision. Whatever you go with I’d use the time with the OB to become as informed as possible about what agreeing to the induction may mean eg.

At this hospital what percentage of inductions at your gestation, for a first baby would they usually see result in an emergency c-section and the same for how many they expect to result in an assisted delivery (forceps or ventouse). These things can very a lot by hospital, atleast they do in the U.K.!

How many days would they expect the induction to take.

How many babies would they expect to need to spend time in the NICU afterwards.

Can they help you understand what they think the increase in risk is (and quantify it or point you in the direction of a research study) if you choose wait for spontaneous labour.

I think the guidance in the U.K. is to offer induction after 2 instances of reduced movements, though in lots of trusts will offer after 1 if you’re past 39 weeks.

spanglesj · 31/10/2023 07:37

@WriMum22 congratulations on the arrival of Poppy!!!

Our baby girl Grace has arrived too, on the 28th after a short and positive induction using balloon, ARM and Syntocinon drip.

to all the mummas on here heading into labour soon, you’ve got this!! xxx

spanglesj · 31/10/2023 07:38

LeeanneD11 · 31/10/2023 07:45
