@Growinganaries did it feel tight at the same time? Braxton hicks are strange feeling but generally I didn’t really find them painful just a bit uncomfortable. It may be you just twinged a muscle or really bad round ligament pain. If it was a one off I wouldn’t worry but if you get them more frequently or more painful then no harm in getting some advice from midwife.

have you been feeling baby? The best reassurance is just laying down relaxing and getting baby to move. I find running my fingers over where they are always gets a little reaction from baby and instant reassurance!

Pinkstuffs · 05/11/2023 07:16

@Growinganaries I had a cramp like this a couple of weeks ago, I was walking along and it shot up my side and was a really sharp painful spasm, which lasted a few minutes. I read about round ligament pain and thought this could be it? I think those pains can be more sharp and short lived as well as the period like pains, (I’ve had those a lot as well).

Growinganaries · 05/11/2023 11:43

@Pinkstuffs @sweetdreams23 @SummerOak

Thank you so much for your replies Flowers

I've had no further episodes since. Yeah I too have read about round ligament pain and it does seem like it fits with a pretty extreme version of that. The pains I've being putting down to round ligament pain were nothing like it! But overall definitely hope it's that :)

Thank you xxx

Hi! Also looking a bit of reassurance here! I have an awful cold/cough at the moment & my DH has made me a few blackcurrant lemsips over the weekend which have really helped. I was chatting to my mum and she said just double check you can take them, I assumed it would be okay because I thought it was just paracetamol. Although just googled and it says not to take them during pregnancy!

Ive had three since Friday & wont be taking anymore but just really panicking now that I’ve caused the wee baby harm- feeling so so guilty! Please if anyone has accidentally done this before and everything has been okay please let me know! I’m 17+2 weeks

Hi :)

Sorry to hear you've been poorly. I've also had a horrible flu like illness these last few days.

Some lemsips are just paracetamol and paracetamol is fine to take like normal in pregnancy.

Some lemsips also have an added decongestant, which I think there's less info about. But I really wouldn't worry about just three or four doses ❤️

Ttcmumma · 05/11/2023 20:22

@BVIre hey, just looked it up and the risk is the blood thinning aspect lessening the flow to placenta. Can you feel baby move yet? As that'd be great reassurance all is still ok for bubba.
I doubt 3 will do much harm, it's probably more of a longer term use issue.

I was on holiday with a friend last year, she was in her first trimester taking anadin (not recommended also) and lemsip multiple times a day for a week. Neither of us realised it was an issue at the time! Her baby is 1 now and perfectly healthy little boy x

BVIre · 06/11/2023 10:12

Thanks I much for the reassurance @Ttcmumma & @Growinganaries we have a private scan on Tuesday evening (attempt 2 at finding out the sex lol!) so hoping to see everything okay then!

also the doctor is due to phone me today regarding me being poorly so I’ll double check with her when she phones :)

Hey!
Haven't posted in a while, hope you're all doing good :)

Looking for a bit of reassurance/advice.

I'm 19 weeks and I've been getting off pains etc throughout the whole of pregnancy so far. Tonight I got a really severe cramp, super low in my pelvis. It really felt like a baaaad period cramp and just cramped down for like 2-3mins straight. So much so it made me yelp snd grip my husbands arm for the whole time. It hasn't happened before or since and so far haven't had any other symptoms with it eg no bleeding etc.

Do y'all think it's part of normal spectrum of pains or could be worrying?

Thank you 🙏

@Growinganaries, most above have been reassuring, which I'm pleased about.
When I lost my last pregnancy I had a very sharp pain low in my groin area which also lasted around 2 mins and I had to sit down. I had no other symptoms, but I was only 7wks along. My 12w scan confirmed what I thought and had to schedule in a hospital visit.
I would call your midwife if you haven't already and see what further advice they can give you. x
Sorry my story isn't as bright as anyone else's!
It could also be trapped wind or constipation too, fingers crossed for you! x

Growinganaries · 06/11/2023 19:07

@WishIWasSleeping

Thank you for your reply and so sorry to hear of your loss

I actually went for a reassurance scan this evening as my anxiety got the better of me. Had the pain then didn't have any more flutters that I wondered if I was starting to feel the day before that. But so pleased to say everything looks great on the scan :)

Thank you for your honest reply :)

How did the phone call with the doc go? :)

WishIWasSleeping · 06/11/2023 21:29

@Growinganaries - I'm so pleased to hear this!
I typed my reply and deleted it more than once, but I couldn't not tell you to seek further reassurance, so I'm glad you did!
Hope it was just some sneaky flatulence and lovely baby movements! Time for a nice cuppa to celebrate! Brew

Those of you who have had your 16 week midwife appointment, how long does it take roughly? Need to know how much time to book off of work. Thanks.

Pinkstuffs · 06/11/2023 22:18

I haven’t had my 16 week appointment yet (it’s on Friday) but every time I have seen the midwife they’ve been running very late, even with an early morning appointment! Don’t forget you are entitled to as much paid time off as you need for antenatal appointments.

Ttcmumma · 06/11/2023 22:31

my midwife centre is quite new and quiet ATM but went in and done a pee sample while waiting to be called. Waited 5 mins, was with midwife 10 mins and done. She didn't do Doppler heart beat so I'm guessing those appointments would be slightly longer. I'd already had it done at consultants office, have naughty bought a home Doppler and had my gender scan same day so I wasn't bothered that she didn't try haha

BVIre · 07/11/2023 07:01

@Growinganaries thanks for asking! It went okay she didn’t seem to think it was that big a deal but did advise I didn’t have anymore which is fine. She gave me some antibiotics so fingers crossed they start to lift this!

have a private scan tonight so glad that’s booked it just to have the reassurance!

1994jk · 07/11/2023 08:53

Tha ks @Ttcmumma and @Pinkstuffs will book our a couple of hours just to be safe x

SummerOak · 07/11/2023 09:50

My 16 week appointment lasted about 30 minutes, she did use the Doppler, heard baby's heartbeat. I already brought my urine sample from home so she just checked that. And after that she was just answering my questions and booked the 25th week appointment. Like @Pinkstuffs mentioned, work should give you those hours as paid time off.

1994jk · 07/11/2023 11:37

Thanks @SummerOak ! Will allow about 30 mins + extra time in case they're running late. My work are being a bit difficult with the time off, I am a dental Hygienist so means they have to cancel patients which they're annoyed about, but I know I'm entitled to it so will keep pushing

Mrsttcno1 · 07/11/2023 12:05

Yeah I’ve just had my 16 week app this morning and was about 30 mins altogether, but at least 10 mins of that was just chatting and asking how I’m finding things etc so it could defo have been shorter if not for that! I’ve also just been for my gender scan this morning and now trying to resist temptation to check until tomorrow! X

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 09/11/2023 13:16

Just been for my gender scan, booked a private one nearby.

It's a girl!

Hi all, 17+3 now, overall have been feeling fine but have the runs today and not sure whether to be worried/call the gp or not? It only started today and other than that I feel fine. Anyone any advice?
