@Aprilpudding24 yes I have this, have had it since 18 weeks but lately it's been so much worse! Can't walk at all without it hurting and turning in the night is agony. I'm going to self refer for some physio and see if that helps

sweetdreams23 · 12/02/2024 15:07

@SummerOak Braxton hicks can feel uncomfortable but generally not painful. Mine generally just feel tight. I do tend to get them if I’m walking for a while or get up quickly off a seat. Belly usually goes solid for a very short amount of time like 30secs- 1 min. Then back to normal. I do get a few a day but know what triggers them.

Aprilpudding24 · 12/02/2024 15:10

@1994jk aw you poor thing. It’s agony isn’t it. If you don’t mind me asking where does it hurt you? Mine seems to be felt inside me like a sharp jolt when I move n then both hips n thighs aching? The internal pain really worried me at first I thought it was the start of premature labour and my Google skills couldn’t find an adequate description to match what I was feeling so I was getting really panicked 😱
I’ve just bought one of those pregnancy braces to see if that helps have you tried one?

Pinkstuffs · 12/02/2024 15:12

@Aprilpudding24 @1994jk definitely sounds like pgp, I’ve had it since 20 weeks. I’m usually very active but struggle to walk more than a mile at the moment and it leaves me in agony the next day. Pain for me is across the front of my pelvis and between my legs. The midwife referred me for NHS physio and the referral was very fast, within a week. Been sleeping with a pregnancy pillow and doing some exercises and it’s not got much better but hasn’t got worse either which I’m taking as a win as some people are left bedbound by it!

Aprilpudding24 · 12/02/2024 15:27

@Pinkstuffs thats good your referral was so quick. I’m hoping for the same. Have you tried one of the brace/belts and if so did it have any impact?

I know I’ve read some women are bed bound, permanently disabled, finished their pregnancy in a wheelchair. I’ve just finished for maternity leave and was really looking forward to getting all the final touches ready and nesting now. Hopefully it won’t be too debilitating.

1994jk · 12/02/2024 18:18

@Aprilpudding24 it hurts my hips and in my pubic area, and yeh its quite a sharp pain with every movement. I have a belt but I'm not getting on with as I can't stand anything tight on my bump! That might just be me though and be worth a try for you!

SummerOak · 12/02/2024 19:28

@sweetdreams23 I think the brisk walking triggered mine. They just came suddenly and caught me off guard I guess 😅 at least now I know how they feel like.

MumDaisy1980 · 13/02/2024 13:46

Heya everyone, have you all packed the hospital bag yet?

Looking at items for baby - in M&S there are various sizes for babies Newborn (7lbs) or Tiny (6lbs 3oz) or Early (5lbs).

I wonder say for Newborn and Tiny, does it matter if I just get Newborn? I would not have a clue how heavy it weigh until it's born. 🙄

BVIre · 13/02/2024 15:16

@MumDaisy1980 hi I haven’t started even thinking about a hospital bag yet, I’m 32+3 and was going to wait until 36 weeks. This is my first baby but weve only bought a few bits so far in the ‘up to one month’ size which I think is up to 10lbs because my friend had her baby a few weeks and he was 8lbs and didn’t fit into any of the M&S newborn size! I was a 9lb9oz baby and my husband was 10lb so I have avoided buying anything newborn because I’m just not convinced wee baby will fit into it!

MumDaisy1980 · 13/02/2024 16:37

@BVIre Thank you! Ha, good point, I've only thinking the baby maybe smaller than the newborn size rather than bigger!! Im a petite body frame and unlikely could fit a 10lbs baby in me I guess 😯. Ya, I'm first time preg 32+2, we are close! I started feeling hard to go out and about - a walk down the shop feel like a hiking trip, so thinking to get the bag ready. Thinking harder to go out and about when closer to the due date ha.

Likewise that didn't get much ready too.

sweetdreams23 · 13/02/2024 17:03

My daughter was 7lb 7 and newborn was fine for the first few weeks. Going with newborn again, although been told this baby is on the big size. Which surprised me as bump measured 6 weeks behind and I’m a tiny size 6! Anyway we will see but hopefully won’t be a whopper 😂 I have started to get hospital bag ready, I quite enjoy putting it together

Amf2508 · 13/02/2024 17:26

I had my son at 38 weeks and I'm increasingly getting uncomfortable already at 32+4. Had a bit of a rocky pregnancy so I'm going to air on the side of caution and pack the majority of my bag soon with a list of last minute things for the other half to add. As I know he will panic come the time 🤣 I think anytime between now and 36 weeks is reasonable to begin packing!

SummerOak · 13/02/2024 17:57

I haven't started packing the bag yet, I planned to do it at around 34 weeks, currently 31+4. I got some bits for me, but not much for the baby. I'm thinking of getting just a few newborn sizes, and a bit more of Up to 1 month. I think the baby will be on the longer size. I'd love to hear what you all plan to pack, there's so much info out there and I feel like I'll be packing for a two week trip.

Ttcmumma · 13/02/2024 18:24

Had my growth scan today after small bump measurements at 28 week scan. (32 weeks now) baby perfectly on track, measurements either bang in the middle or slightly big. Estimated 4.3 lbs.

My waters broke at 37+5 with my son so I should probably get onto packing the bag too, hadn't actually thought about it until mentioned today!

sweetdreams23 · 13/02/2024 19:04

@SummerOak irs quite exciting packing the bag. I’ve gathered bits together but not fully done it yet as only 30 weeks. Personally last time I packed too much and half of it didn’t get touched. This time I’ve got a hold-all for me and a separate bag for baby.

so far ive packed a nightie, slippers, flip flops for shower, comfy outfit for leaving hospital in. Will also pack another outfit for me for being in hospital if I’ve got visitors etc. lip balm, face wipes, maternity pads, breast pads. Nursing bra, big knickers, toiletries. Also plan on getting a little fan, a towel and will take pillow from home. I will be breastfeeding so not taking any milk but will need to pack that if your formula feeding :)

for baby I plan on packing probably 3 plain white sleepsuits/ bodysuits/ hats. All newborn size also neutral as don’t know what are having. Then a couple of nicer sleepsuits for leaving hospital/ first outfit. Oh and a cardigan for leaving hospital in. Also need to get a cellular blanket. Wipes, nappies, nappy sacks. Muslins.

one probably missed a bit but that’s the basics. My husband can sort his own stuff lol. Also last time ribena cartons were fab in labour for a little bit of energy.! May take some sweets and snacks too.

SummerOak · 13/02/2024 21:03

Thank you @sweetdreams23! I'll write all of it down, didn't even think about flip flops for shower. I also plan on breastfeeding, but might take some formula with me in case I'm completely unable to do it.

I think I'll have 3 separate bags, 1 will be just for snacks 😅

BVIre · 14/02/2024 08:43

@MumDaisy1980 i know I’m trying not to think about it too much as I am also quite petite (size 6/8) pre-pregnancy but I’m tall as is my husband! My mum was the same and she always said I wasn’t a chunky baby just a long one😂

1994jk · 14/02/2024 13:40

Would you all be okay with eating vegetarian sushi from a good restaurant? Is it just the raw fish that's an issue in normal sushi? I'm overthinking everything I eat lately

Amf2508 · 14/02/2024 14:25

Is anyone else getting cramps more regularly? Trying to decide if they're just strong BH and maybe I'm just over doing it, or I'm just unfortunate and have this to look forwards to for the next 7 weeks 🙈🤣

I would believe it would just be the raw fish that's the issue, that being said I'd be weary just Incase of cross contamination. I know there's so many health and hygiene things nowadays but you never know 🙈

Knock123 · 14/02/2024 15:41

Hey ladies not posted for a long time! Glad to hear everyone is ticking along, I'm absolutely knackered. Those on first pregnancies, lap it up it's so horrendous having a second.

Those asking about PGP - had it very badly in my last pregnancy and it has reared its ugly head again this time although I've been seeing a physio for a while so it's not got as bad as before. Exercises include strengthening glutes and pelvic floor, keeping legs together getting in and out of the car and sitting to put trousers on rather than weight on one leg. Bouncing on the big ball, doing figure of 8s and rolling backwards and forwards all help. Also just resting - coming to the end now not long to go.

Baby clothes size - my last baby was 5lb 7oz, she was drowning in newborn but they did for a few days until we got the smaller sizes in.

Sushi - fine to eat as long as it is vegetarian or fully cooked fish!

1994jk · 14/02/2024 16:40

@Amf2508 @Knock123 thanks ladies!

Cora24601 · 14/02/2024 16:47

@Amf2508 yes! I started getting some about a week ago, they differ in frequency day by day but I read somewhere keeping hydrated was good for BH. Mine are more period type cramps though. 🤷‍♀️ first pregnancy so it's all a bit unknown to me.

Yes, I ate sushi and only choose non raw fish.
