@sugarplum33 @dory0 I am also having a boy!

ASGIRC · 12/11/2023 19:41

@1994jk I was told at my 12 weeks scan, and it is in the scan report, as well.

But ask whenever you have another scan, as they can always see it. However, since it isnt particularly problematic, and tends to shift, some places may not put much emphasis on it. Having a placenta previa may cause some bleeding, and will interfere with delivery, but again, it may start that way, it doesnt mean it will end that way!

@Janeykat that sounds really scary! Hope things evolved well and it can get sorted!

sugarplum33 · 12/11/2023 19:41

@Pinkstuffs Aww yay 💙

Janeykat · 12/11/2023 19:58

Thanks all for your lovely messages. And yes @sugarplum33 , definitely going to find out if its a boy or a girl... I dont have a preference either way but it would be nice to have some happy news to share with people. And also my 3 year old has decided its definitely a girl so I need time to prepare him if its not😅

Misty84 · 13/11/2023 08:03

@sugarplum33 @dory0 @Pinkstuffs I am having a boy too🥰💙

Ttcmumma · 13/11/2023 09:02

Hey ladies,

Yesterday and today I've been having pains in my belly (but up high, rather than down low) and some discomfort in my back. I do have a lot of gurgling feelings going through my tummy and I haven't pooed much... I'm thinking trapped wind or constipation? Has anyone had similar? Can't help but worry when there's pain 😞. Should be 19 weeks today, no blood etc

sweetdreams23 · 13/11/2023 15:55

Had my 16 week appointment today (at 17wk 2) didn’t take very long but she did check for heart beat which was amazing to hear! Such a shame they don’t offer that everywhere anymore!

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 13/11/2023 16:15

That does sound like wind to me @Ttcmumma but you can always contact your midwife, see what she says. Depending on where the pain is, and if you have other symptoms, they might want to check your urine protein to be on the safe side

How exciting @sweetdreams23. My midwife service is so overrun I'm having to wait til 17+5 for my 16 week appointment. No idea if they do doppler, but I saw baba on a private scan last week so not the end of the world if they don't.

Oh, and for all those who weren't told about placenta placement, I asked where my placenta was, the information wasn't just volunteered (she pointed it out to me but I didn't know if it was the front or back). She said that it's at the front, but at the 20 week scan they'll let me know officially if it's anterior (I imagine because it can move before then) and if its low.

@Ttcmumma that definitely sounds like wind or constipation, I get this a lot and it can be really painful! You could try some downward dog positions which can help move things along? Or drinking peppermint tea helps too.

Ttcmumma · 13/11/2023 16:51

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess @Pinkstuffs thank you ladies! It seems to be easing slightly and I tried a peppermint tea earlier. Im definitely struggling to go number 2. If it continues tomorrow then I'll contact the midwife. Trying to get in some extra fruits and water for now to see if that helps too

Pinkstuffs · 13/11/2023 17:46

@Ttcmumma if I’m struggling I find orange juice and grapes is a good combo, plus a coffee in normal times although I’ve been trying to avoid caffeine as I find the rules on what you can/can’t have so confusing!

Ttcmumma · 13/11/2023 17:49

@Pinkstuffs ok fab I'll definitely try some orange juice and grapes too. Coffee usually works and I do allow myself one in the morning but I threw that one up instantly today 😅 so it didn't help lol. It's so weird I seem to throw up everytime I change to a new week (19 weeks today) it's like my hormones have a surge day once a week atleast lol and then I stop again.

Misty84 · 13/11/2023 08:03

@sugarplum33 @dory0 @Pinkstuffs I am having a boy too🥰💙

Ahh yay congrats all 💙 so exciting

Pinkstuffs · 14/11/2023 16:10

@Ttcmumma Ive still been randomly throwing up every now and then as well, going on the bus to work really sets me off so I’m not going to the office as much.

Anyone else been ill lately with a stinking cold/suspect it might be covid? I wasn’t going to test as I thought if it’s positive it will only worry me, but today thought I would try, however I can’t find a test in any shop. I’ve felt so poorly since Saturday though, barely been out of bed 🤧

Ttcmumma · 14/11/2023 16:36

@Pinkstuffs i thought it would be done by now haha but I can definitely live with the occasional throw up. I'm a dog walker so have to stay active. I spoke to the doctor today as my back ache got worse, they want me to do a urine sample in the morning to rule out an infection but I've just had a very sudden bowel movement (sorry tmi) and my back is massively relieved! She said if the urine is clear I should try lactulose for constipation.

I have actually had a slight cold, my son had had it since mid last week from school and my partner is now extremely unwell with it, fever and all sorts. I tested myself yesterday for COVID and it was negative, partner hasn't tested but I don't seem to be catching it properly. Maybe a normal winter cold going around at the moment? I had COVID a month or so back and all was fine x

Cora24601 · 14/11/2023 21:44

Hi all, we had our 20 week scan today and all looked good and we found out we are having a little boy! 💙 this will be a double rainbow baby 🌈 🌈 so the relief was amazing! We are planning a little gender reveal for the family, now I just have to not let slip for a week! Is anyone planning a gender reveal? I know it's cheating us knowing but I had to find out 🙈

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 14/11/2023 22:00

I'm not planning on one personally @Cora24601 , never considered it, but a family member had one a while back. They used a cake, which I was happy about as I hate the confetti/smoke ones. Are you thinking something classic (like just cut a cake or open a box to release a balloon) or something a little more involved, like when you have several cupcakes, give them out and one is the gender colour?

I may have cake on the mind if you can't tell 😅

My partner's mother was actually in the gender scan with us (she'd driven us there so I thought I'd invite her in to see the baba) when we found out it was a girl and I was so excited I just wanted to tell everyone tbh 😅

Congratulations on your beautiful boy!

Cora24601 · 14/11/2023 22:30

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess I'm planning on doing a cake! Found a really cute one on Pinterest 😊 I'm all about the cake so I'm there with you! I never thought I would be one for a reveal but in all honesty this may be my only child and after the struggle to get here I've decided I'm doing everything 😂 x

SummerOak · 15/11/2023 07:16

@Cora24601 congratulations on your baby boy 😊 so glad everything went well with the scan. How long did it take? Did the person doing it explain what they were doing/looking at?

We won't have a gender reveal as our families live in another country, but I do like the cake idea.

Cora24601 · 15/11/2023 07:39

@SummerOak thank you! We were there quite a while, longer than I expected. Probably about an hour in all and we were on time going into the scan.
We did tell the sonographer about our previous losses and that I was anxious and asked if they could just check for heartbeat first. They were very sweet and totally accommodating. They explained what they would be doing and what would happen if they found anything but told us it was very rare. They had a checklist and one by one they went through and took measurements and checked on the functions of heart etc it was very detailed. They updated us every step of the way and that each thing looked normal and showed us some cute bits like the lips up close and bones in the arm.
Baby was being a bit difficult though so it may be quicker for others. I did make sure to ask for a couple beauty shots though because it was so long they really only got images of the necessary bits they needed. X

Misty84 · 15/11/2023 09:36

@Cora24601 I don’t see it as cheating- it’s either going to be a surprise now or a surprise later! It’s a rainbow baby for me too and we found out having a boy 🥰💙 Congratulations to you!!!
We did a cake reveal for family and it was amazing- lots of tears from the future grandparents (and me seeing their reaction!). It’s taken so long to get here, we didn’t think we ever would, it’s not going to happen again so I’m celebrating the shit out of it!!😛

SummerOak · 15/11/2023 10:17

Thanks for explaining @Cora24601 . I'm hoping ours will be as detailed as yours, we had a lovely 12th week scan, but I heard some stories that they don't tell you anything on the 20th week scan so that worried me. Probably really depends on the sonographer.

Congratulations on your baby boy as well @Misty84 !!

Petris123 · 15/11/2023 10:35

This may be not affect anyone on here but has anyone had a prior 3rd degree tear? I know this time I’ve got options of c section or normal delivery. Keep going back and forth between both!! Any advice welcome!
