Hi everyone been a while since I posted on here!
Had my 16 week appt on Monday. Hoped to hear the heartbeat but they don’t offer it in my area anymore and got to wait until 25 weeks. We aren’t finding out the sex of baby as we want to wait til the birth and get the surprise then, I did the same with DS and it’s so magical. I have been tempted to find out though don’t get me wrong 😂 I’ve got a noticeable bump now, living in leggings/jeggings and floaty tops before I graduate into actual maternity stuff.

sweetdreams23 · 10/11/2023 20:30

@CinderRosie we are also having a surprise. We had one last time too and it is worth the wait for sure. We went through all of our baby clothes we have from our daughter the other day though and I am glad we have lots of lovely white newborn bits. As much as I loved putting her in the girly bits I think a newborn in white is just the best! Not gonna lie may be a bit sad if I don’t get to use all those lovely girly clothes again as we have soooo many!

Hi there I am wondering if I can join? I due 21st of April. Has been lurking but never commented. Wanted to say hello to everyone 🖐 xx

MumDaisy1980 · 11/11/2023 07:51

@CinderRosie @sweetdreams23 hi, I m also in the not-knowing-gender-until born crew. But my husband is definite want to know. at the moment we agree he go ahead to find out from sonographer, but he will keep to himself. Won’t share it to anyone.

we won’t know until beginning of Dec when the next scan happen.

i simply prefer not know the gender. Like if I can tell from scan or accidentally found out, I won’t be upset.

i wonder if there is any problem being my husband know and I don’t? Or shall we in fact not know together. Slightly indecisive on this. Or anyone has similar experience?

I prepare to buy all things neutral beforehand.

thanks!!

CinderRosie · 11/11/2023 07:54

@MumDaisy1980 it sounds quite difficult for him to know the sex but not say anything - if my DH knew I’d be worried he’d accidentally slip up, or I’d read into why he wanted to buy a certain thing for the nursery 😂 but if your partner can be really restrained about it all then that’s good.

sweetdreams23 · 11/11/2023 08:00

@MumDaisy1980 oh wow I don’t think I would personally like my husband knowing and me not. I feel like i would end up asking him! Or him accidentally slipping up! Personally I think you either both know or both don’t find out together. But that’s just my opinion, I don’t think it would work for me.!

sugarplum33 · 11/11/2023 08:01

@MumDaisy1980 I don't really see the point in him finding out when you're not as there's nothing he can really do with that information. He can't discuss it with anyone- even you, he can't choose a name, he can't openly buy anything 'gendered'. It just seems like he's just have to sit on that secret for no real gain with the added pressure of him not saying anything to you.

Pinkstuffs · 11/11/2023 21:18

I’m 16+4 today and I’m sure in the past couple of days I’ve been feeling baby! It feels like bubbles popping in my stomach, quite regular throughout the day. Does this sound right? It’s mostly just below my bellybutton on the right hand side, so not as low down as I thought it would be.

sweetdreams23 · 11/11/2023 21:27

@Pinkstuffs yes that sounds like baby for sure! You’ll notice it more and more now :) tonight I felt it outwardly with my hand on my tummy which is lovely. Laying on the sofa now and baby having a right party in there! 17 weeks today.

SummerOak · 11/11/2023 22:48

I'm 18 weeks now and I finally started to feel something. The other night I could feel the baby shift from one side to the other. It's still just the start of it and I have to be laying down to feel anything. But it's very exciting!

CinderRosie · 11/11/2023 23:30

@Pinkstuffs yep sounds very much like baby! I’ve been feeling little flutters since 13 weeks (second pregnancy) and they are getting stronger now. Like you they’re mainly just below belly button, which is roughly where the top of the uterus should be at this stage. Mine is definitely more active in the evening!

ASGIRC · 12/11/2023 00:12

@Pinkstuffs That definitely sounds like baby!

At first I thought those bubbles were gas, but then they became too regular for it to be gas!

Today I didnt feel my baby as much, which is disappointing. I think shes moved further to the right, which is where my placenta is, so is now kicking the placenta instead... Before I was feeling her lower down, to the left hand side. Today what I felt was more centered, but definitely fainter, and less often.
I also picked up her heartbeat on the doppler around the center, as opposed to the left side.

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 12/11/2023 00:14

Ooo yay that some of us are starting to feel movement! So exciting.

I could have sworn I felt a flutter a couple days ago, but I have an anterior placenta and was only 15 weeks, so it's doubtful. I've been told to prepare for not feeling anything for a while yet.

On the plus side we think we've decided on a name 😊 anyone else chosen a name/have a shortlist?

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 12/11/2023 00:57

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess My placenta is also anterior, and I started feeling the baby just before I hit 18 weeks, so hopefully you wont have long to wait now! I am now feeling her every day (19+3)

Ive had the names picked out for ages, and its been official for a few weeks now, since I found out I was having a girl!

1994jk · 12/11/2023 10:19

Can I please ask those of you who have one, when did you find out that you have an anterior placenta? This hasn't been mentioned to me at all, would they have only mentioned the position to me if it was anterior?

Ttcmumma · 12/11/2023 10:24

@1994jk I have posterior not anterior placenta but ive been told/shown this at any scans. I have had extra private scans but they also told and showed me at the 12 week NHS scan. It's usually on my notes after too x

1994jk · 12/11/2023 10:27

@Ttcmumma okay thanks. I've checked through all my notes and it's not been mentioned once. Will ask about it at my next scan, thank you :)

Ttcmumma · 12/11/2023 10:28

@1994jk I guess each trust/hospital is different. I always ask loads of questions as I've had a loss so maybe they show me more haha.
Yeah just ask them at the next scan, they'll be able to tell you easily at this stage 😊

Janeykat · 12/11/2023 10:49

Hi all, havent posted in a while, hope you are all doing well, exciting to see that you are starting to feel the babies moving, I am aswell :)

Unfortunately it is now looking really complicated with my pregnancy. I posted before about a lump being seen in the scans and they didnt know what it was. I had a 16 week scan with a specialist last tuesday and they diagnosed me with TRAP twin sequence-- basically the pregnancy started off as identical twins but one didnt develop past a certain point. It is not "alive" but is still growing as it is connected to the other twins blood supply. As it grows it may put my healthy babys life in danger as it is pumping blood for both of them and could eventually have heart failure :(

Really scary but I am seeing a specialist once a week for scans and she is looking into surgery options incase it becomes neccessary to stop the blood flow between them.

I may make a separate post about this as it progresses, just as this is quite a rare condition and some of our journey may be useful to others in the future.

Ttcmumma · 12/11/2023 10:54

@Janeykat oh wow that's intense! So sorry you're going through this. Got everything crossed for you that baby copes fine and everything goes well in the long run x

1994jk · 12/11/2023 14:15

@Janeykat sorry you're going through this! Keeping my fingers crossed for you, I'm sure baby will be okay - sounds like they are keeping a very close eye on everything which is really good! Glad you're feeling baby move too that's so exciting!

Misty84 · 12/11/2023 14:27

Thinking of you @Janeykat and hopefully you’re in good hands with this specialist and they will do everything they can to make sure your baby is ok.

sugarplum33 · 12/11/2023 14:39

Goodness @Janeykat what a stressful time you're having. I'm glad they're keeping a really close eye on you and hope that it doesn't get to the point of you needing surgery. Have you decided to find out whether they're a girl or boy?

SummerOak · 12/11/2023 17:34

So sorry to hear that you and your baby are going through this @Janeykat I'm hoping everything works out well in the end.

@1994jk I also haven't been told anything about the position of my placenta, so I'll have to ask at the next scan.

sugarplum33 · 12/11/2023 18:04

@1994jk I don't remember anything being mentioned at my 12 week scan but I had a private 16 week scan yesterday and she told me that my placenta was anterior and that they would check this again more thoroughly at the 20 week scan. So that's maybe the point they properly check the placenta's position and let you know. I think the placenta can change position as baby grows anyway so it may not be worth them committing too much to the position early on.

@dory0 Looks like we are in the minority here but we've found out we are also team boy 😍
