Also if you type in 'pregnancy symptoms disappeared 9 weeks' (or 8/10 weeks or whatever) into the search bar here you'll see lots of reassuring stories.

It's common because this is the time the placenta takes over hormone production for many women. Appreciate it's unnerving when it happens but it's usually just the body doing its thing. Good luck to everyone with scans.

rachlive · 16/10/2023 12:55

Hey, I just had my scan and all is well, measuring 8 weeks as expected. It’s grown so much in 2 weeks I can’t believe it. I feel very relieved, so hope it reassures some others who have had symptoms coming and going xxx I am going to book my nipt for 2 weeks time I think, so at least not too long until I can have another scan! Xxx

Toda11 · 16/10/2023 14:42

10 weeks today, booking in appointment on Wed. I’m sure they are going to have a load of questions for me but from all your experiences, are there any questions you asked/wished you asked?

Hoping my 12w scan isn’t too late after that, if not I’m booking a private scan, probably with window to the womb

Mum2b2024 · 16/10/2023 15:59

Hi, I’m new to mumsnet so hope ok to join. I’m nearly 8 weeks and wondered when people had started to hear about their first midwife appointment as I know we need to do some tests before 10 weeks? Just a bit conscious I haven’t heard but I have had my 12 week scan letter. Should I chase this yet or not? Thanks. Hope everyone is doing ok.

TheBirdintheCave · 16/10/2023 16:05

@Mum2b2024 I'm nearly 10 weeks and only received my appointment the other day. It's for 11+4.

Mine said to chase if you don't hear anything by 10 weeks.

Mum2b2024 · 16/10/2023 16:27

@TheBirdintheCave oh wow ok then. Ok thanks :) do u know if u have the tests there and then at the appointment or do u have to book them separately? Otherwise does anyone else know? This is my first time so I don’t really know how it works lol

10 weeks here and have my booking in appointment at 10+2 where I believe they will take blood and urine samples during the appointment.

was booked in when I was 8+3.

get the feeling the 10w isn’t a hard limit and can be a few days after as well.

I haven’t had my scan letter yet, think it may be sorted after the appointment

Mum2b2024 · 16/10/2023 17:10

@Toda11 thanks for the information. Ah ok that makes it easier if it is there and then as have visions then trying to book it in lol. Ok cool, maybe I will hear this week then.
Oh really ok then. So weird how everywhere does it different as I have got that letter lol. Yeah would imagine u will find out in appt. Good luck :)

PeppedUp · 16/10/2023 19:24

I had my booking appointment on Friday. They take your height, weight, blood pressure, urine and blood samples. They also checked carbon monoxide, which I think shows if you’re a smoker or not? They also ask A LOT of questions - it took over an hour, mainly about your own medical history but also your partner’s and both your families. They also booked my 12 week scan and my first midwife appointment in the appointment. They also give you a folder that has all your pregnancy notes that you take to all your appointments (and are supposed to keep on you at all times while pregnant, but I’m not going to do that!) and they gave me lots of pregnancy vitamins although I’m not sure if all trusts do that.

I referred myself around 5 weeks and got a call within a couple of days to organise the appointment and I was 7+6 for the appointment (although a week further along according to LMP which the NHS asks for when your refer yourself).

Darladoes · 16/10/2023 19:26

Hey ladies, my scan went well. Baby measuring where she/he should be and heartbeat seen. Such a relief. Now I know that symptoms can fade and all be ok :)

Darladoes · 16/10/2023 19:27

@rachlive great news! :)

rachlive · 16/10/2023 19:32

@Darladoes so glad yours went well. Hope you feel more relaxed. I slept straight after for like an hour 😂 think it was relief. I also nearly cried at the scan, I’m a mess 🙈

Darladoes · 16/10/2023 20:38

@rachlive oh I did cry! Haha.

I do feel a little more relaxed, I hope you do too! :)

junebuglb · 17/10/2023 15:14

Just rejoining this thread from the 1st one :) hope everyone is getting on ok? How is everyone feeling, has anyone shared their news with family/friends yet:) sending good vibes to you all!

I had my booking appt yday; feeling generally ok, just a couple of days every week I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck and I’m off to bed at 7pm lol! Excited to be 10wks on Thursday. Also been having the most vivid and weird dreams this week! And my diet is mostly beige 😂

Have a good rest of the week everyone x

Nelliepledge · 17/10/2023 17:06

Happy nearly 10 weeks! Glad you're feeling mostly good!

I was wondering if anyone felt any tugging/stretching sensation in their stomach? And if so how would you describe it? I'm 8 weeks now and today my tummy felt kind of heavy and stretchy haha. Is this normal 😄 I am also gassy and constipated so could also be that 😄 sorry for the tmi

Rose5555 · 17/10/2023 20:27

Hi everyone, wondered if I could join in. I’m 9 weeks tomorrow (and have my booking in appointment in the morning). I have a 3 year old son and 2 year old daughter already, and am feeling exhausted and mostly nauseous… but I’m always exhausted from running around after two toddlers 🤣 currently sitting on the sofa after eating 4 weetabix and a giant bag of salty crisps for my dinner….. realised how weird this is and thought it might be time to speak to some other pregnant women!! Happy to have found you all here

Toda11 · 18/10/2023 11:08

Booking appointment all done at 10+2, want to tell my mum on her birthday on the 28th and won’t be able to get an NHS scan by then as will only be 11+5 so going to window to womb tonight for the first scan and nervous and excited!

anyone else used window to womb before?

TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 11:15

@Rose5555 Welcome :)

@Toda11 I'm so jealous of everyone getting their booking in appointments. I have to wait until 11+4 🙄

Window to the Womb are a bit hit and miss. I found the Chessington one a little conveyor belt like but the Worthing one was lovely.

@TheBirdintheCave I thought it had to be around 10 weeks due to blood tests, etc?

we are going to Swindon as it seemed to have better reviews and less of an in and out

TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 11:49

@Toda11 So did I but seemingly not? Maybe Horsham just sucks. I had it at 8 weeks with my son when we lived in Kingston.

Sa11yCinnamon · 18/10/2023 15:00

@Toda11 I'm going to Window to the Womb on Friday. I've actually already had an EPU scan but had already booked and paid for this one, and my partner couldn't be at the first one so looking forward to this one, feel a bit less apprehensive now I've already seen bub and heartbeat.

Mum2b2024 · 18/10/2023 17:55

@PeppedUp thanks so much for the information :) was v helpful! I am 8 weeks and I heard today and have my booking appts booked in phew :) mine have split it out so got blood test next Tuesday and then the other part being asked lots of questions in a few weeks time. Dunno where the time has gone already!

Toda11 · 19/10/2023 11:52

Had my first scan at window to the womb in swindon yesterday and was an amazing experience! The staff there were brilliant and had plenty of time for our questions and grabbed some great images.

Baby came in at 35.7mm at 10w+2 which looking online seems spot on. Had a small simple cyst on one ovary but seems nothing to worry about right now

As someone who hasn’t had masses of symptoms (no sickness at all!) it was a massive reassurance to see the heart beating away like crazy!

12w NHS scan in 2 weeks time to look forward to and see baby’s growth!

TheBirdintheCave · 19/10/2023 11:56

@Toda11 Yay I'm glad you had such a lovely experience :D

Nina7 · 19/10/2023 11:58

8+5 today, (or 9 according to period), I've got my booking appointment tomorrow, our Trust is using BadgerNotes, so all the pregnancy files will be electronically accessed by the app.
Very exciting!
I kind of feel that some symptoms are subsiding (mainly nausea was the annoying one) and I can now eat a bit more normally (so grateful for that!!). Or maybe that's my wishful thinking now that I'm approaching 9 weeks...
Sore boobs, weird mood and tiredness are still on... Sleeping on average 8h30 every night and still feeling tired...
I'm starting to develop a bump, but I'm afraid that it's mostly fat for the moment...
