Anyone else feeling super lazy? I have no motivation to do anything, can't be bothered working, cleaning the house, going to the gym. All I want to do is lie on my couch and watch TV 🙈

Usually I'm the kind of person who can't sit still! Taking full advantage of this new lazy attitude lol

Holdmysunhat · 13/10/2023 17:37

Hard relate @Judethepud I never really watch tv except when pregnant when I can’t get enough. I just bought a Now TV sub to my civil partner’s bemusement (since I never use the Prime and Netflix we already have!)

I’m going out to a cocktail bar tonight for a friends birthday and I’ve been dreading it all week! Usually I’d love nothing more than a catch up with friends and Friday celebration but pregnant me wants an early night next to my sick jug!

@newbie2788 sorry to hear you've been struggling with anxiety, it is an anxious time, especially before 12 weeks. Have you spoken to your health care provider? I have a history of anxiety and depression so I was automatically referred to a perinatal mental health team who were really helpful. Might be worth seeing if that could be useful for you too.

Wow where do you live? I am autistic with OCD, anxiety and depression and was turned down TWICE by my perinatal team despite a history of PND and recurrent miscarriage 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

ClrDvs · 13/10/2023 18:51

@TheBirdintheCave I was in Essex at the time. I hope you get the support you need.

Nelliepledge · 13/10/2023 19:19

Can anyone reassure me that their symptoms are minimal? I heard someone describe the feeling as imposter like and I completely feel that 😄 7+2 today, but apart from being absolutely shattered and sore boobs I havnt many other symptoms. It making my worry but, I pretty much can't stop doing that at the moment. Hope you're all okay x x

TheBirdintheCave · 13/10/2023 19:32

@ClrDvs Thanks me too. I'm in West Sussex. Going to try and go through my midwife if I make it to the appointment this time.

Plenty of people on here report successful pregnancies with minimal symptoms along with others who suffered miscarriages reporting strong symptoms

one thing I saw is that strength or absence of symptoms doesn’t have a bearing on success of the pregnancy.

are you weeing more, gassy, more cervical mucus, hungry? They are all valid symptoms

Holdmysunhat · 13/10/2023 19:38

Thinking of you @newbie2788 It’s such an anxious time and first trimester hormones are just wild.

Echoing others who say to reach out to your midwife or healthcare provider. It’s so incredibly common that you’ll hardly need to explain anything

Yes! I've been there- I thought I lost the pregnancy because my symptoms were so limited, but I had a (private) scan and everything was ok :)
If you're worried, definitely reach out to your healthcare provider to discuss.

Hello Smile, Hope you don't mind me joining. I am 8+2. TTC from the past 18months and finally pregnant:). Nausea has been worse for the past 2 weeks, being a teacher it is really hard not to throw up in the classroom. I am severely iron deficient and have been taking the high dose iron but that is only making the nausea and constipation worse. Is anyone going through the same? Any tips that worked for nausea? Been drinking a lot of ginger ale, that is helping a bit.

Sa11yCinnamon · 14/10/2023 10:05

@Athena1984 I don’t have experience in pregnancy but having been severely anaemic in the past, taking vitamin C alongside iron aids its absorption and eases constipation, you can also get liquid version which you could add to a smoothie or something?

rachlive · 14/10/2023 10:20

@Athena1984 another lady on the first thread was saying they had luck with some pregnancy sickness bands. If it’s bad though you could ask the gp for some medicine. The only thing I found helped in previous pregnancies was eating little and often even when I didn’t feel like it. I haven’t been so bad this time, but do feel queasy on and off and eating seems to help.

I have so little get up and go! I really need to get on with normal chores and walk my dogs (which I normally love), but I feel like a slug 🤣

Snap @TheBirdintheCave
I never got any support with previous pregnancy either. They were of the opinion that if it's pre existing it's not pregnancy related so didn't provide support!

I'm 8 weeks and vomiting despite being prescribed anti sickness tablets. They worked for just under a week

We saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks and we have another scan for 9 weeks. We are with prof Quenby Coventry Tommy's clinic.

Due date around 25 may.

I don't post much due to anxiety but I am here. Unfortunately I've had losses so I'm reluctant to get too invested too early.

I'm reading the book pregnancy after loss if anyone is interested x

Twdfn123 · 14/10/2023 11:39

Hi all,

Rejoining. Just had a reassurance scan due to previous loss. They dated me 4 days ahead at 8+3, so today I'm bang on 9 weeks with a due date of 18th May. Now just feels like ages to 12 weeks.

Nausea is strong though 🥲🤮🤢

Im not sure, im waiting for the 12 week scan to come through, but i have my booking appointment on wednesday when ill be 9+4, so hopefully a couple of weeks after that fingers crossed!!

Im trying to not to cave and get the early gender testing as well lol. This will be our last baby and we already have our beautiful boy, so we would love a girl. If its a boy we will be very happy, but we'd still love to know lol xx

Good idea about the smoothie, will try it out thank you.

I have ordered the travel sickness bands, hope they help, thank you for suggesting Smile

Holdmysunhat · 14/10/2023 17:18

@Twdfn123 is your nausea stronger than in your last pregnancy? I ask because slightly higher hCG is associated with female embryos in the first tri. I think the differences are pretty minuscule so it's like tossing a coin so my comment probably isn't helpful!

I have a LOT of nausea in this pregnancy so have been researching it a bit. I don't have a preference on sex but went through a stage of thinking it was twins - then got worried about Downs Syndrome, which apparently also causes slightly higher hCG. I'm sure I'm being completely daft though and am very much not a scientist!

No I was really sick with my son and signed off work and put on bedrest for wk 7-14. But this pregnancy is just about bearable , not that I'd have much choice now with having my toddler.

I'm like 1% preference for a girl but I'd honestly be happy with either. I have the same fears about everything else, hopefully it goes well for us 🙏 xx

Holdmysunhat · 14/10/2023 18:22

Aw poor you @Twdfn123. I'm so glad this one is better for you, but yeah, you're right that we don't have much choice but to crack on with it with a toddler in tow!

I had very little sickness with my first and have spent most of this pregnancy with my head in the loo so wondering if their personalities will be wildly different or something haha.

TheBirdintheCave · 14/10/2023 18:36

@Twdfn123 I said that to my husband today 'Maybe because I have to do things for G as I have no choice, I'm tricking myself into thinking I don't feel quite as bad as I did when I was pregnant with him.'

LondonGirl1992 · 15/10/2023 08:59

Slightly anxious today because after weeks of vomiting about 5 times a day- I didn’t throw up yesterday at all and only had one wave of sickness. And after hardly eating anything for weeks, I managed an entire lunch and a cake. And then today I have no sickness either- so feeling totally paranoid something has gone wrong! It’s so hard not to worry about every little thing isn’t it!

Holdmysunhat · 15/10/2023 09:25

@LondonGirl1992 I think for most people the sickness comes in waves as the hormones surge. For me, I'll feel like death for weeks then suddenly I'll feel completely normal again. Just as I'm telling my partner 'Thank god for that - the placenta has finally taken over and my sickness has gone!', it'll come back stronger than ever. I thought mine had gone last week but I'm back to being sick 4/5 times a day this week.

Not to wish sickness on you, but I suspect it'll be back before you know it.
