Thanks for explaining @SarahBowie and sorry to hear you've had to go through that. Good to know they've got a plan for you. xx

SarahBowie · 02/02/2024 17:46

Thanks @newbie12345678 it was totally my own fault with a snowboarding accident 🙈 I have to say I’m really happy with my midwife so feel lucky that I’ve got a good one.

Hope your section goes ok when it comes to it xx

Has anyone else found it suddenly hard to get comfortable and sleep? I am awake so much of the night just feeling generally quite uncomfortable! My stomach feels so heavy and the pregnancy pillow really does support it but then when I want to switch sides, it feels like a huge ordeal to move the whole pillow and myself. 🤣🤣🫣 trimester one I was none stop sleeping so it’s just a shock to the system now!

Yes! I could have written this myself. Also sitting up from lying down is so hard now too.

Me and my husband are sleeping separately, so I don't keep us both awake from my constant moving and strops in the night lol

@LoLondonGirl1992 yes! It's so uncomfortable. My bump is approx 8 weeks ahead than my actual week (24 weeks but the equivalent to a 32 week singleton baby bump) with me carrying twins and I don't think I've had more than 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep in about a week. I'm an absolute zombie!
I'm planning to continue teaching up until my 32 week too, but may need to re-evaluate if the lack of sleep and discomfort continue.

junebuglb · 02/02/2024 22:35

@LondonGirl1992 yes!!! Hoping this is a blip and not the new norm. Sometimes the baby kicks are too exciting to ignore in the night too, and I have to just stay awake until she stops- ha!

newbie12345678 · 02/02/2024 22:37

I'm with you all on the discomfort! My issue is mostly my hips. I have bursitis in both sides which makes side sleeping uncomfortable at best and painful at worst. Unfortunately it's a lot worse in my left hand side which is obviously the side they say it's best to sleep on.

Nina7 · 03/02/2024 21:07

Oh, I also agree in the sudden sleeping discomfort... I need to go on all fours to change side and the faff of turning the pillow over... The lowest few nights I just out extra pillows on both sides in order to have them in place.
My top leg starts hurting as I sleep on my side, maybe I need more pillows to support it as well...

My partner abandons the bed very soon after I fall asleep. It actually makes things easier for both of us.
If sleep continues like that, I don't know how I'll manage with work... I'm already feeling exhausted!

The lowest couple of days I also started feeling very heavy and more difficult to move... I don't know if it's tiredness) hormones, or if that's it, it'll only be getting worse from now on.
This morning I found it hard to put socks on 😮

@Nina7 I can relate to finding it hard to put socks on! I also find myself panting like a cartoon dog after walking the stairs up to our attic

SarahBowie · 04/02/2024 11:23

@Nina7 I decided that putting tights on yesterday would be a great idea. Omg, what a faff!!!

Athena1984 · 04/02/2024 23:20

@Toda11 @Sa11yCinnamon @Holdmysunhat @SarahBowie thank you for recommending Gavison, it seems to help but not at night as you said. I am waiting for GP appointment in 7 days for Omeprezal!! I feel like a zombie without much sleep! One piece of good news is I can feel my baby move not a lot of kicking but gentle taps :)

I am a bit pissed off by my mid wife, I had my bloods done in December for iron etc, I didn't hear anything back so assumed all was good but when I called them a couple of days ago, they said my iron was 14.9 ( should be above 15) , now have to speak to gp to get prescription for iron! God know what my current levels are and worried that low iron has affected baby's growth!

Athena1984 · 04/02/2024 23:22

@Nina7 same!! I am now asking my partner to help me when ever I have to put them on!!

LondonGirl1992 · 05/02/2024 07:21

Random question but for anyone who has been for the glucose test and had to fast from the night before, can I brush my teeth?! I suddenly thought it says only water but I don’t want to skew the results!

Nina7 · 05/02/2024 07:32

@Athena1984 that's really annoying... Have you been taking daily vitamins?
Hopefully with them it won't have dropped too much...
Also, I'm not an expert but I do keep hearing that the baby will get what it needs, it's just you that'll be left depleted...

My midwives gave me extra iron at 17 weeks as a precaution (no prescription through the GP). They work quite differently in every region...

On the info sheet I got, it mentions you can brush your teeth.
Hope everything goes ok. I've got mine next week.

SarahBowie · 05/02/2024 13:15

Anyone has a relapse with sickness? I’m 25+1 and have actually had to stop work today because the hour and a half that I tried for I was away being sick more often than working 😩

I thought I was over this!

MrsB2005 · 05/02/2024 13:38

@SarahBowie Yes, my sickness has come back with a vengeance!

The last few days I have felt absolutely awful, Im currently laid in bed with an awful headache and everytime i move my head I feel like I'm going to be sick.

I phoned the midwife this morning as I've got a few other symptoms I was / am worried about but she shrugged it off and said its just luck of the draw.

Fingers crossed your feeling better tomorrow

SarahBowie · 05/02/2024 13:55

@MrsB2005 oh no I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling so horrible too!

My tummy muscles are a little sore, I think from the heaving but I can feel baby moving around as normal and nothing else other than the sickness. I’m the same as you, as soon as I move I’m sick again so just keeping myself on the sofa. I’ve had a nap in bed already, it’s the only time I didn’t feel sick 😩

Thank you! I really didn’t enjoy it- the horrible drink teamed with the fasting gave me the worst nausea but so glad it’s over! They were super efficient with it all. Hope you’re goes well!

Judethepud · 05/02/2024 21:04

@SarahBowie @MrsB2005 yep sickness is back for me too. Threw up yesterday morning and have been gagging again after eating tonight 🙃 hoping it's just a couple of bad days and will go away again! Had been enjoying this 2nd trimester.

Twinkles18 · 06/02/2024 00:23

Has anyone refused the glucose test? I’m 0.2 over the bmi limit for it so I don’t think I’m a major risk..tested in my first pregnancy and all was fine.
i want to skip it as I have raging heartburn which is especially triggered by citrus and sugar so I know the drink will kill me 😖 omeprazole gives me migraines so I have to grin and bare the heartburn as best I can, it’s terrible! any advice?

Colourfulflowers · 06/02/2024 02:37

Hey everyone
Just reading through messages.
I’ve been feeling sick on and off the last couple of weeks (24wks + 4). And my sleeping is not going great. Aching back, but also my legs… they are very very restless, I can’t keep them still at night!!! I also keep getting really hot in the middle of the night and had a heat rash a few times too (I often get them in the summer). I have a bbhugme (which I love) and also saw a physio which has really helped with my back… but the leg thing is too much!! Anyone else getting this?

Toda11 · 06/02/2024 09:19

No issues with legs but definitely another suffering from back ache! I've been using the disposbale sticky heat pads for now but off for a pregnancy facial and massage on Friday so hopefully that will help!

Sa11yCinnamon · 06/02/2024 10:21

@Twinkles18 you can refuse any of the screening tests so I'd assume glucose test will be the same? Sounds like you've weighed it up and it's not a rash decision!

I've got mine the week after next, couldn't work out why as no one else I know has had it routinely and my age/BMI are in range, but I think it must be because I have a bicornuate uterus so baby being bigger would be more of an issue. It's mainly the fast I'm dreading as I'm constantly hungry!
