@Mushroo Could not agree more. The fatigue is taking over at the moment and struggling to get up every morning. Didn’t get up for work until 9am today as couldn’t face the day 😂

Bump has also doubled it feels in the last week or so!

Mushroo · 04/09/2023 11:01

@smldnlove so glad it’s not just me. I work from home and only managed to drag myself out of bed just before 9am.

Hoping it’s linked to a baby growth spurt and I won’t be this tired for the rest of the pregnancy!

Smileyface32 · 04/09/2023 11:51

@Alexis7890 I’m dreading this. I remember being given it ages ago and I kept flinching when the dr attempted it in my belly. Do you have an option of where to inject? I’m still waiting for a call to say it can be collected

Undercoverunicorn · 04/09/2023 12:00

@Smileyface32 I was on blood thinners (injections) for 6 months post dd and have been on them the whole of this pregnancy. The ones I have they recommend lower stomach or thigh, basically where there is likely to be some fat. They sting and occasionally bruise a little but honestly I barely notice them now

Alexis7890 · 04/09/2023 12:36

@Smileyface32 I was told belly was my only option so see what they say to you. I do get my husband to do them for me and I am finding as bump grows it is getting harder to pinch a good section for him to jab so I’m sort of half bent over to grab as much as I can. Some days I barely feel it some days it stings, and sometimes leaves a small bruise, hopefully you’ll be okay with them, could you do them yourself or get someone to do them for you?

ThomasinaLivesHere · 04/09/2023 12:46

On the subject of birth plans I got a template from my midwife last time in the 30 something week although for a first timer it had quite a few parts that I found difficult to answer. You can do lots of research but you only get so far. One of the sections was about what position you want to give birth in but really you might research and find X position sounds the best but when you’re in labour it might be hard to do or you might naturally want something else.

RG84 · 04/09/2023 13:21

Anyone know of any birth plan templates for a c-section?

Pitstop1986 · 04/09/2023 16:05

How can you decide what position that you want to give birth in ahead of time?!

Once you are in labour, I kind of just found a position that was comfortable. In my head I wanted a water birth, but once I got into the birthing suite I got myself into a position that worked and refused to get into the water bath!

I would have thought birth choices would be for breastfeeding or formula, oral or injection of vitamin k, delayed chord clamping, who cuts the chord, who announces the sex, etc etc.

Even pain medication preferences could change on the day. You might want a fully natural drug free labour, then when labour progresses, decide that you want something to take the edge off it.

You won't know how you'll cope with labour until you're actually in full blown labour!

NoodleQueen90 · 04/09/2023 17:28

@Pitstop1986 I think they realise it's all variable but the only thing I can think of is to make people think about their options so that they know what they are on the day, even if it's not written in the plan. I bet there will be many a dad back out of cutting the cord even if they'd planned on it beforehand 😂
My sister advised to discuss positions with my midwife as I have an anterior tilt to my pelvis. She reckons I'll prob be better trying to push on all 4's. Will see what the midwife says but it's something I probably wouldn't have thought much about without prompting.

Smileyface32 · 04/09/2023 19:32

@Alexis7890 I don’t think I could bring myself to inject myself. I tend to look away whenever I see a needle. I was thinking grabbing fat around my belly will be hard at 25 weeks. Will attempt bending over a little. Still waiting on the prescription so will hopefully get it by tomorrow

Alexis7890 · 04/09/2023 20:17

@Smileyface32 my husband does them, even when I got home late from something and he was sleeping I woke him up to do it because I just couldn’t bring myself to do it! Yeah sort of bend over and grab what you can, I have wondered what it’ll be like as bump keeps growing! Hopefully the prescription comes through fast, do you know how long you’ll need them for?

Flowersandfloral · 04/09/2023 22:06

I was a little worried movements weren't as regular today, but what I've realised is that what feels like a tiny movement inside feels much sturdier with my hand on my bump!

It always seems that my husband can only feel the tiny movements never the massive ones as well. Anyone else like it?

Alexis7890 · 04/09/2023 22:58

@Flowersandfloral omg yes I’ve ended up googling all sorts, don’t feel loads then rest my hand on my bump and feel so many wriggles it’s so strange

Flowersandfloral · 05/09/2023 07:08

@Alexis7890 it's crazy isn't it. Feels so much stronger!! Felt much better after realising haha!

SMG1992 · 05/09/2023 21:25

Anyone else wishing we didn’t have this heatwave going on now?
im struggling to sleep even more now and just feel swollen and uncomfortable
im grateful I’m not 2/3 months further along but I’m still not loving the heat

Cowlover89 · 05/09/2023 21:26

Following 😊

Cowlover89 · 05/09/2023 21:47

@SMG1992 the heat is horrible! I just can't get comfy because of it and doesn't help with the pain I'm in with my hips/back and bum

Beans1982 · 05/09/2023 21:56

@SMG1992 Love seeing the sunshine finally, but not enjoying the heat of working from home in a room that's like a sweatbox.
I'm also experiencing a lot of swelling in my hands and feet last couple of days, my trainers feel very tight at the moment.

As for sleep, it's also difficult - more so because of having to go to the bathroom a couple of times during the night, but also the really vivid dreams.

I finally weighed myself yesterday for the first time since my 12 week scan (now 23+4) and it just made me feel absolutely rubbish about myself (I've put on 11kg) and on top of that, I had a video chat with a work colleague who hadn't seen me for a good month only for them to tell me that my face looks plumper 😕
How's everyone else doing with water retention and weight management?

wannabemum38 · 05/09/2023 23:31

@SMG1992 I'm hating the heat and.i can usually deal with it. But I'm home meant to be working but been off sick and it's so stifling can't bear it. Plus got heartburn and peeing more so the glamour of pregnancy continues!

Flowers90 · 05/09/2023 23:51

@Beans1982 I weighed myself the other day and have put on 9.5 kg since the booking appointment. I'm feeling rubbish as returned to work after the summer hols last week and have been told I'm very big this time, I'm blubby ect. Fed up with the comments!

Hating the heat too not sleeping and finding it hard to manage. The heat is just making me feel sick

Charlielechat · 06/09/2023 00:14

@Beans1982 No experience of water retention just yet but have gained weight and have had unnecessary comments from people (mainly older women in work) - also about my face funnily enough! Counting down the weeks left at work! I just can't believe people feel it appropriate to make observations on our bodies/weight as though we haven't noticed ourselves 🙃

bookbathnap · 06/09/2023 07:16

Makes me so angry that people think it’s ok to comment on our bodies/face! So unbelievably rude and ignorant.

I’ve been experiencing some hand and feet swelling this week too with this heat.

Got my 28 week midwife appointment on Friday. My apps are now telling me I’m in the third trimester which feels crazy!

SMG1992 · 06/09/2023 08:03

Congrats on third trimester @bookbathnap - I'm currently 26 weeks so still have a couple of weeks until that milestone!
I'm surprised at how many people have had unnecessary rude comments about weight etc. I luckily haven't had any yet but know that my face (along with the rest of me) does in fact look plumper!

Mushroo · 06/09/2023 09:10

The heat is too much!! I went for a gentle stroll this morning and I’m done. Didn’t sleep very well either.

Roll on autumn…

ThomasinaLivesHere · 06/09/2023 13:13

Another one here looking forward to autumn weather 🍂. My son was born in June which was good for going out walks with him but definitely looking forward to not feeling sweaty and horrible in final months this time around.
