I feel shattered and have bad back pain. Seems to be middle back but also lower back extending into bum and hips. Heartburn is awful and.vomiting after every meal.

Nclktnntt · 28/09/2023 02:38

Hey everyone!

I'm 27 weeks today (well yesterday to you guys) I had my first measurements at week 23 - had to go early due to holidays - and she said all was perfect, listened to bumps heart beat too which was lovely.

Turns out pregnant me doesn't travel well - every flight I've been on, the next meal I've had, doesn't matter how long is left, the very next meal comes back up. But just that one!

I definitely feel baby moving a lot more now - some really strong ones too. Luckily tiredness is not a thing for me just now, even though my hips threaten to play up, I'm still able to get about. I get stars quite often so when I have my next check up definitely making sure they check my b12 levels as mine were low pre pregnancy and I was on a course of treatments which she stopped because my levels were fine.

I hope you're all doing well. Sorry to hear those who are struggling - I've found with hips at night I have hip aches/pains if I have my knees bent infront of me, so I tuck the pillow under bump, and wrap the pillow between my legs but try to keep my hips not too bent, if that makes sense? Not straight but it's the itb band that it's pulling on. Yoga has been helping too.

We're back in Seattle now! (landed Monday morning) Hawaii was amazing - told you I'd do a good update for those asking, we found a couple lovely laid back restaurants, there's lots of seafood places but I don't like sea food so we avoided those places unless they did meat or veggie food I'd eat... poor husband loves sea food 😂

Seattle weather is strange apparently, and it's not normal to get rain this heavy - it's like our general every day rain. It's gone chilly and the weather app lied telling us before we headed over it'd be mid 20s the whole time not mid teens, so im living in my running leggings with a vest top and my tracksuit jacket, luckily I brought my water proof running jacket, but my dresses are staying in the case 😂

Anyways - I look forward to being back in the same time zone as you guys and also when we're back we're going to start researching all baby things!

@smldnlove - we've been renovating for 5 years now - our house is still bare brick inside with no floors or ceilings, heating or lighting throughout apart from the living kitchen dining room which is currently our bedroom. We finally have heating in the top floor and will be working on the middle floor when we return home - putting underfloor throughout which is why it's taking so long -

my advice is don't stress over what is and isn't done in time, focus on the main rooms that you'll use and get those done, my husband talks like our baby will be 5 years old and helping finish the house .... this better not be that case 😂 decorating, fine but I want plaster boards on the walls. Ceilings, lights and floors within the next 12 months... plastered too lol.

@SMG1992 Hoping to have one at the weekend. Not seen baby since 20 wks scan and will be 30 wks tomorrow so can't wait to see them again but also nervous incase anything comes up abnormal.
Had a few nights of good sleep but now had 2 bad nights due to heartburn and last night baby was so active I couldn't get comfy putting cushion under bump made them worse!

RG84 · 28/09/2023 11:42

Haven't been on here for a while. Hope everyone is doing well.
I have my growth scan tomorrow followed by my consultant appointment. Nervous as always with scans. I do hope I get my c section date confirmed tomorrow as they said they would.

SMG1992 · 28/09/2023 11:58

Exciting @wannabemum38 Some of my friends 3d scans have looked exactly like how the baby did when they were born so I'm really looking forward to seeing who they look most like! Hopefully nothing comes up abnormal, I hadn't actually really thought about that but there is so much unknown when they're in our tummies I'm trying not to worry.

My sleep isn't great at the moment either. I'm usually in bed for about 8/9 hours but am definitely not asleep that long and never feel refreshed in the morning.
I know there wont be much sleep once the baby is here but I am looking forward to sleeping on my back again.

Somehow lost this group when it moved over to thread 5!!
Seems like the weeks are going quick but December is forever away!!
had 28w midwife appointment today and she helped me to work out babies orientation, turns out where I thought I was being kicked in the ribs before is actually an elbow, and baby is fully head down in the pelvis!
Is anyone else having their 33/34w appointment at their house or is that just a quirk of my area??
Also anyone managed to get the amazon babylist free gift to work or the your baby box? if so what did you buy? i get so frustrated adding items and none of them seem to be eligible!!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 28/09/2023 16:43

3D scans do look interesting but I’m not sure I’ll get one. I do see the appeal.

It feels like ages since I had my last midwife appointment but I think it’s coming up soon. I remember it being in October. I just wait until I get the text reminder.

smldnlove · 28/09/2023 17:51

@Nclktnntt Thanks so much! Very helpful advice and we will probably reduce our expectations on what we can do now tbh! Hoping to do the minimum so we have some rooms ready to go at least. Hope yours all goes well, it’s exciting! Sounds like a big project and we’re the same hoping to do it over the next few years!

smldnlove · 28/09/2023 17:54

Just had our 28 week growth scan (having them every 4 weeks) and baby is measuring quite small on the 16th percentile 😣

May be to do with my placenta issue (why we are having regular scans) but they said could just be a small baby. They said they’re not too concerned yet but need to monitor and if still small in 4 weeks may consider a plan for early delivery.

Seen most of you ladies with nice big healthy babies here but anyone with a small baby on a low percentile? Just googling myself into a black hole 😩

ThomasinaLivesHere · 28/09/2023 18:04

@smldnlove Id try to avoid googling and just concentrate on what the doctors said that they’re not too concerned.

bookbathnap · 28/09/2023 18:09

@smldnlove I’m with you in the small baby club so you’re not alone! Mine was measured at the 6th percentile. I’ve got another growth scan on 6th October. Googling stuff is so depressing, I’m trying to avoid it but it’s hard not to sometimes. I’ve seen plenty of stories of people who were told their baby was small and ended up being just fine.

smldnlove · 28/09/2023 18:57

@Nclktnntt @bookbathnap

Thank you both! Yes staying positive and hope you are too @bookbathnap i have read the exact same that a lot of babies do end up perfectly healthy with no issue at birth. Hope yours catches up and grows lovely and healthy 🥰

@HappyPie82 Id also love how the Amazon wish list discount works as we’ve struggled! Second this!

stardust25609 · 28/09/2023 20:04

@HappyPie82 @smldnlove Are you definitely putting things in your basket sold by Amazon? Amazon sell stuff from 3P sellers as well as directly from them, and you need £20 of stuff sold by Amazon to qualify for the free gift (not including the gift). You can check who it's sold by on the right under the buy now button. Worked for me when I did this and added in the Tommee Tippee bottles they suggest as a gift.

So after trying many different variations of items in my basket i spoke to customer support.
If you're buying items they have to be 15% discount eligible and all SHIP in the same shipment, something which you cannot know until you get to the checkout phase. I checked their T&Cs and it did not specifically state this, so I complained. They gave me a free £21 voucher so I got the nappy bin and £6 towards my basket purchase. But this would appear to be the way to make the code work. It's likely the same for the Your Baby Box as well, although other have said this isn't worth bothering with.

RG84 · 29/09/2023 18:33

I had my growth scan this morning followed by a consultant appointment. It didn't go as I'd hoped...the scan itself was fine and baby doing good however turns out the baby is bigger than he should be at 28 weeks. I thought I had my diabetics under control but there could be major complications if the baby's gets bigger. I have another scan in 4 weeks time.

I know that mothers out there are in worser situations but obviously I'm down about this. Anyone have any advice?

stardust25609 · 29/09/2023 21:01

@HappyPie82 Ah that makes sense! I had only put one thing in my basket to qualify hence I didn't have the problem. Well done for getting a solution.

@RG84 I'm sorry that sounds upsetting. I don't have any advice, but I would say that ultrasound weight measurements are notoriously wrong. Also babies have growth spurts at different times, so a baby measuring big now won't necessarily stay that way all the way through. Some people also just have big babies and it might be nothing to do with the diabetes. All you can really do is control the spikes to the best of your ability, and/or go on medication if your placenta is just not playing ball like mine, and then the rest will happen as it will.

I'm also in the lack of sleep club, getting a fair bit of insomnia. Pregnancy pillows also really don't work for me, I've tried 3 but found they make the pain in my hips worse if anything. Maybe I just don't know how to use them correctly!

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/09/2023 21:03

Boots have £5 off every £40 spent on baby items ending very soon

Just used boots points to get a baby playmat

gurlwhaat · 29/09/2023 21:14

Does anyone have experience of being recalled for a gestational diabetes test? I had my test earlier this week and was told I’d get a call today or Monday if I had it. I missed a call from the hospital today - they didn’t leave a message but I’ve had a letter via the NHS online portal telling me I need to go in AGAIN for a GSD test!! I really don’t want to sit through another 3 hour appointment 😫 just wondered if anyone had any experience of this.

Smileyface32 · 29/09/2023 22:03

@gurlwhaat I had to repeat mine recently. First time round the results were high and odd. I did home monitoring and it was normal range in the morning. I then repeated the glucose test again and it came back normal. The nurse said she will raise the first test as a lab error.

gurlwhaat · 01/10/2023 08:41

Oh ok thank you! Mainly dreading having to down that disgusting drink again…

99SR · 01/10/2023 14:04

I‘ve to go for the GD test on the 10th too. My bloods came back saying I might have it! Not really sure what it means, hopefully I don’t.

RG84 · 01/10/2023 14:42

@stardust25609 thank you for the reassurance.
I'm almost not wanting to eat at this point but of course I do as I love food in general 😭

I haven't done any shopping yet for baby. I have no idea how many and what bits I need. I over brought with my first 3 years ago. I'm going to get 0-3 as probably wipp be a big baby but not sure what and how many sleepsuits and baby grows I need. Anyone done their shopping and figured it out? I'm so lost... :/

Charlielechat · 01/10/2023 18:13

For those of you who had the GD test, did you have any funny side effects? I wasn't allowed to drink water for mine so was a bit dehydrated and veins kept collapsing. Results came back normal anyway but I was getting some blurred/spotty vision once or a twice a day since that. I'm away this weekend but got my blood pressure checked and it was normal, and midwife told me to call my hospital when I get home if it keeps happening. Nothing today thankfully, and BP normal too, but just wondering if anyone else's body was a bit all over the place after their test? I'm going to call the hospital in the morning, but just can't help but worry!

Flower35214 · 02/10/2023 08:21

@Charlielechat I'm surprised they didn't allow you to drink water! The person who done mine emphasised how important it was to drink water and keep hydrated! Hope you're not feeling like that again x
