Hi all, hope everyone is doing okay! Had another scan this morning, nearly 10 weeks and all measuring perfect, even got to see little hands and feet this morning which was so lovely and really made it feel so real! My question is, has everyone had/is everyone going to have the flu jab?

I’ve just had a phone call to book mine due to pregnancy, I’ve never had it before as I’m only 25 and no other health issues so never been eligible before. Is this a normal one to have while pregnant? X

Growinganaries · 22/09/2023 13:20

Hey guys :)

I know a few of you have been in a similar position to me, waiting for dating scan appointment to come through.
I'm 12+4, had my booking app at 8+5, and STILL haven't heard! Called my mw a couple of times and they have said just to wait.
I was getting a bit anxious about missing the combined screening window & a friend of mine gave me a tip to call the scanning department/ antenatal clinic directly. I did that this morning and they gave me a time a time slot!

Good luck :)

Ttcmumma · 22/09/2023 13:40

@Mrsttcno1 yeah everyone is offered flu vaccine in pregnancy, I will be having that and whooping cough same as when pregnant with my son, just not getting the COVID one personally x

Noodles4Me · 22/09/2023 14:03

@Growinganaries that’s good you got a date. I got my date too but I’ll be 13+5 by the time it happens so no point doing the combined screening as I’ll have my NIPT results by then thank god - so straight to CVS/Amnio should there be any issues.

@Mrsttcno1 yes, I’m being nagged to have the flu jab. Standard in pregnancies over winter months. I might but had flu in April this was year, so dunno…

sugarplum33 · 22/09/2023 14:06

@Growinganaries If they could immediately sort you out an appointment why hadn't they just done it already?! So frustrating all these disorganised systems and you shouldn't be having to chase everything. Like you say there are time restrictions on the tests so it's not something that you can just delay and delay. Grr, anyway I'm glad you've got it sorted now, when is your scan?

@Mrsttcno1 We are counted as high risk in pregnancy so it's recommended to get it. You're both more likely to catch it whilst pregnant and more likely to become seriously unwell. I'm booked in for Saturday :)

Mrsttcno1 · 22/09/2023 14:13

Thanks everyone for the advice! I’ve just rang and booked mine for tomorrow morning! Better safe than sorry I suppose especially over the winter months when I do usually catch every germ going round anyway🤣xx

My dating scan is Thursday & I'll be 13+3 :)

I hope you're keeping well :))

Bluesky85 · 22/09/2023 15:39

@Growinganaries I have mine Thursday too and I’ll be 13+5 (approx)!

Awh amazing ❤️❤️❤️ enjoy!

Poppins2016 · 22/09/2023 21:44

I also have my scan on Thursday! I'll probably be around 11 weeks and a bit... Can't wait to see baby properly and hit the end of first trimester milestone... first trimester always seems sooooo long (mostly because I feel so lousy)!

sugarplum33 · 23/09/2023 08:03

Aww all these scans on Thursday, how exciting. Mine is the next Tuesday and I'm feeling excited and anxious in equal measures.

Sat waiting for my flu jab today and I'm the youngest in the waiting room by about 30 years 🤣

Hopefulfirstround · 23/09/2023 08:17

Just had a scan yesterday , 12+5 , die on the 2nd o April , it was bopping around the place , I could see 5 fingers. Magic stuff !!! I’m a doctor and I definitely would recommend the flu and whooping cough vaccine. I personally won’t be taking the covid booster either , but that’s just personal preference

sugarplum33 · 23/09/2023 08:45

How magical @Hopefulfirstround 🥺

Morning all

Hope everyone is well, it's lovely to read about all these scans.

I was supposed to have my booking appointment last Tuesday because I was already over 10 weeks they put it down as an emergency, never got it though as I came down with covid on Monday and spent all week in bed.

It's mad to think that some of the group are already entering the 2nd trimester, im still trying to wrap my head around being pregnant 🤣

Lbw1292 · 23/09/2023 14:04

Hey ladies! I had my flu jab today :) starting to feel a little bit off colour. Had my booking appointment last week but my scan isn’t until 10th October :( still not had a private scan.. think I would rather just wait now because I am still nervous but fingers crossed all will be well 🫶🏻🩷 hope you are all doing well xxx

Mrsttcno1 · 23/09/2023 14:45

Hi! I’ve also had my flu jab early this morning, and just woke up from my midday nap, what a crazy Saturday for me🤣 I’m also sat googling if my dog can possibly know I’m pregnant, we have a 2 year old Labrador and especially today he is constantly sniffing, licking and lying carefully on my tummy. Part of me thinks how can he know, the other part things it seems like he does! Maybe I’ve finally lost the plot hahaha xx

Ttcmumma · 23/09/2023 14:50

@Mrsttcno1 pets often know before we do. They have a great sense of smell and change. You'd be surprised what they can detect, my Labrador growing up detected my grandads cancer. He obsessively sniffed him in the same area everytime he came round, never anyone else, he went to get checked and found cancer. Grandads still alive 17 years later thanks to the lab! They're smart animals x

Mrsttcno1 · 23/09/2023 15:05

Wow that’s amazing @Ttcmumma !! I have to say I always think of my Labrador as more like the “marley and me” dog than the calm intelligent guide dog type, he is so dopey and absolute chaos but I’m hoping he’ll rise to the challenge and be a good big brother to our baby🤣xx

Ttcmumma · 23/09/2023 15:13

@Mrsttcno1 oh trust me so was mine, I've not met a pet Labrador that's not absolutely insane 🤣. Drove my mum insane, he ate through the kitchen wall, oven handle, table legs. He was chaos🤣 but they have a hidden intelligence they try not to show us haha

sugarplum33 · 23/09/2023 15:24

@Mrsttcno1 I think animals are far more capable that we could ever realise. Dogs can be trained to detect medical issues so I have no doubt they could detect pregnancy. Cats I'm not sure, mine doesn't seem to sense anything. But then I think even if they could sense it they are far too aloof to share that information with you 🤣

@Ttcmumma That's incredible! Thank goodness your grandad listened to your Labrador.

Lbw1292 · 23/09/2023 19:37

@Mrsttcno1 i have a black lab and she has started lying on me! She never ever does that because she gets warm so easily. It’s making me super happy 🖤 xxx

Misty84 · 23/09/2023 20:02

Lovely story about your Labrador @Ttcmumma!

I have a cavapoo and he definitely hasn’t noticed anything yet, always jabbing me with his paws when he jumps on/off my lap 🤪
Like @Mrsttcno1 also said, I’m hoping he’ll rise to the challenge and be a good big brother!😛

Hello! I'm due on April Fools Day Grin

Is there a group chat or Facebook group?

I'm 12+6 and had my scan this past week - is anyone good at guessing nub theory?
