Fingers crossed for you tomorrow with the internal scan. My scan at 7+3 was internal and was so clear compared to my friends who had external at 7 weeks, so they will defo be able to have a better look that way!

The scans are such a lovely but also such a worrying experience. I have my next scan on Friday and I’m already worrying! X

@Mrsttcno1 yes ive heard alot of good things about internals, do you know at what stage you can hear the heartbeat for an internal? Xx

Mrsttcno1 · 20/09/2023 06:16

@Babyrabbit1 You can see the heartbeat from 7 weeks (could possibly be sooner) with an internal scan. The medical guidance is actually that before 10 weeks you should have a transvaginal ultrasound for exactly this reason, because they are so small it’s really difficult to see transabdominally! X

Ttcmumma · 20/09/2023 07:20

I saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks internal and abdominal but probably got lucky x

Pinkstuffs · 20/09/2023 09:09

I had an internal scan at 6+2 and saw a heartbeat,

sugarplum33 · 20/09/2023 09:58

@Babyrabbit1 So your scan at 5 weeks was abdominal too? Sounds like a recipe for confusion trying to scan such an early pregnancy abdominally. I was even surprised when they did my 8 week scan abdominally and although we saw the heartbeat the rest was just a blur haha. The internal scan should be much clearer but it sounds positive that things have progressed.

I spoke too soon about feeling better and this is the first morning I've actually thrown up 🤪

Mrsttcno1 · 20/09/2023 10:34

I’ve got everything crossed for you @Babyrabbit1 I hope you get some good news!! Xx

Iamcatmum · 20/09/2023 10:53

Sorry you’re having such a confusing time with your scans @Babyrabbit1. Hope all goes well for your one today x

sugarplum33 · 20/09/2023 11:01

Fingers crossed for today @Babyrabbit1 x

theodora2146 · 20/09/2023 14:51

I just had my booking appointment with the midwife, all went well but I'm still incredibly nervous and anxious due to previous losses, it's the furthest I've got so far which is reassuring.

I'm afraid this anxious feeling is never going to go away until the baby is born. Not knowing what is going on inside is so hard! My next scan is 2nd October to check progress.

Ttcmumma · 20/09/2023 15:01

@theodora2146 remember until anyone tells you otherwise you are still pregnant and have this time with the baby. You've got this. My next scan is 2nd October too, would be the scan that at the last pregnancy I found out my baby had died so I'm kind of dreading it!! X

Babyrabbit1 · 20/09/2023 15:09

Just an update, went for my internal scan baby actually measured at 8weeks but no heartbeat😭 im devastated

Noodles4Me · 20/09/2023 15:42

Oh @Babyrabbit1 I am so sorry. Be kind to yourself, I know nothing will make you feel better for a bit xx

sugarplum33 · 20/09/2023 15:51

Oh @Babyrabbit1 I'm so sorry, that is just hideous news. I hope you're surrounded by love and support and can lean into it to help you through the coming days and weeks.

When you're feeling up to it I wonder if it would be worth contacting the clinic where you had your private scans and complaining really that they're offering early scans but are unable to scan internally. I do think it's really poor that you've been messed around by them not having the capability to really tell you any accurate information and you've ended up having to go to EPAU instead.

But right now just look after yourself xx

Butterfliesandroses · 20/09/2023 16:11

@Babyrabbit1 I am so sorry to hear this. Sending love at this heartbreaking time x

Mrsttcno1 · 20/09/2023 16:36

So so sorry to hear that @Babyrabbit1 x

Im trying to stay positive but i cant stop crying, they offered me a few ways to start the miscarriage but i dont want to go down that route id rather it happens itself. I just pray at my scan next week i can hear the heartbeat😭 i refuse to give up

dory0 · 20/09/2023 19:05

So sorry to hear that @Babyrabbit1 😔 that’s so tough. Thinking of you x

CinderRosie · 20/09/2023 19:49

So sorry to hear your news @Babyrabbit1 you’ve been so strong through all of this x

Bluesky85 · 20/09/2023 21:51

I’m really sorry @Babyrabbit1 that must have been a really difficult appointment. Don’t let anyone force you into anything you don’t want. Take care xxx

Noodles4Me · 21/09/2023 10:59

So I had my booking appointment yesterday at 11+3. 12 week scan still not arranged 😡

I got my consult appointment mid-October all booked. No idea what we will discuss without an actual scan or test results. Just going to give until tomorrow then keep ringing scan department or just go straight to consultant and kick up a fuss.

Just glad I’ve got the NIPT this weekend or I’d be beyond stressed.

Hope everyone else who was in my boat is getting on better.

Iamcatmum · 21/09/2023 11:42

@Babyrabbit1 so sorry to hear your update - thinking of you today. X

sugarplum33 · 21/09/2023 12:04

@Noodles4Me That's crazy! My scan letter came through a couple of days after my booking appointment so maybe it's that appointment that triggers the allocation of your scan date and they're just really behind with getting everyone on the system. You can have it up to 14 weeks so you have a little bit of time still and hopefully it arrives through your door this week.🤞🏻

Bluesky85 · 21/09/2023 12:34

@Noodles4Me how frustrating! My scan appointment was ‘requested’ by the midwife who saw me at my booking in appointment when I was 10 weeks. However I didn’t get an appointment text through until 9 days after my booking in appointment, asking me to go in the following week. It’s really nerve wracking isn’t it! In the end I got sick of waiting and booked a private scan and NIPT because I just didn’t feel confident I hadn’t been forgotten. My NHS scan will now be when I’m 13 weeks which I guess is fine in the end, and probably a bit of a waste paying for the private scan and test at 11 weeks but I just wanted to take the stress out of the waiting and wondering! I’d definitely chase the midwife and the scan department.

CinderRosie · 21/09/2023 18:55

I had my booking appointment on Monday at 9+2, and today got my letter with the scan date and I will be 13+2 for it. I felt a bit stressed too at still having ages to wait for the scan and the combined screening test but it is what it is. Was tempted to book a NIPT but will just be patient even though I am 37 so a bit stressed that I’ll come back high risk. Just want the next 3 and a bit weeks to fly past.
