@sugarplum33 if your trust is anything like mine, you should receive your maternity exemption certificate quite quickly, via email!

I also had the "special lady visiting to check my health" / "we can't mention pregnancy/babies" issue at the beginning of my booking appointment, as my almost 2 and almost 5 year old were at home because DH was running late for taking them out to avoid it (I'm under the care of the home birth team, so all my appointments are at home). It was so much easier after they'd all gone out 🤣

xxcxdonxx · 07/09/2023 10:32

@Poppins2016 @sugarplum33 I actually forgot how much my 4yo picks ups and was speaking to my OH about a bit of bleeding I’d had and he pipes up with, ‘oh are you bleeding mum, where’s the blood, I didn’t see it?!’
So I need to more careful not as I’d rather he didn’t announce anything in nursery etc 🤣

CinderRosie · 07/09/2023 10:43

Those of you who've had a private internal scan did you still go to the scan with a full bladder? The info doesn't say to do this and suggests it'll definitely be internal but others have said they will try abdominal first and if not luck will do internal... I was just wondering if they would let me out for a quick wee if they decide to do internal so I don't have a full bladder with a probe also going inside me? Scared I'll wee on the sonographers myself 😕 I've got a scan at Window to the Womb on Sunday when I'll hopefully be 8+1.

Bexxy28 · 07/09/2023 10:46

@CinderRosie when I went for an internal previously the sonographer asked me to empty my bladder beforehand x

Babyrabbit1 · 07/09/2023 10:49

Bexxy28 · 07/09/2023 09:57

@Babyrabbit1 how exciting!! I still haven't booked in with a midwife I really need to do this just something that worries me about jinxing everything hate how im like this!! X

@Babyrabbit1 good luck for tomorrow. Ill be thinking about you! I think we're the same weeks pregnant and my scans on Sunday🤞 x

Thankyou @Bexxy28 i have anxiety so you can imagine how petrified i am about going for my scan tomorrow. Just praying i hear a heartbeat plus i wouldnt mind twins you know😂 call the midwife soon if i was you, my appointment is in 3 weeks when i will be 10+5 i would have preffered to be checked sooner but what can i do xxx

missmae · 07/09/2023 10:56

@CinderRosie I had a scan at window to the womb last Saturday and they do ask you to empty your bladder before you go in. Little bean was measuring right at 7+1 with a heartbeat. Hope your scan goes well! X

CluelessInLondon · 07/09/2023 11:05

@CinderRosie I was asked to go to my early scan with a full bladder, but then when they needed to do internal they asked me to use the loo down the corridor and then did the scan. If they haven't specifically asked you to turn up with a full bladder then I would assume it's going to be an internal scan and not worry about it. And I'm sure they'll have a toilet you can use if needed!

CinderRosie · 07/09/2023 11:36

Thank you @Bexxy28 @missmae and @CluelessInLondon, empty bladder it is!

@xxcxdonxx we've been referring to the pregnancy as "the blueberry"/raspberry/strawberry/whatever fruit size it currently is for that reason! 😁

I hope the bleeding has resolved for you now, it must have been worrying.

Noodles4Me · 07/09/2023 13:20

Hi all. Chased up my 12 week scan but still heard nothing. The community midwives seem worse than last time. Probably overstretched 😩

Anyone have an inkling on the sex of the fetus? I just knew last time it was a boy and was right and think it is again but husband would prefer a girl. Can’t wait to find out!

I had a scan on Saturday when I was 8 weeks, it was abdominal and they didn't ask me to empty my bladder xx

faban · 07/09/2023 13:28

Hey everyone sordy I haven't been here much it's been such a busy time. I had an early scan last week, I was so so scared because honestly I don't feel pregnant AT ALL. I was measuring a day ahead and the baby had a really strong HB so that's great.

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and this is my second baby, with my first I didn't show until after 20 weeks and I have a bump already!! I assumed it was bloat but it's been there all week and dosent go down, not even in the morning! It's so weird!

Does anyone else have a bump yet?
Xx

faban · 07/09/2023 13:30

This was my scan at 8 weeks, not a very good pic but was so clear on the screen! Makes jr feel so real'

CluelessInLondon · 07/09/2023 13:38

@faban What a great scan picture, must have been very exciting to see! On the subject of early bumps, one of my friends who is very slim started to show super-early with her second - she ended up having to cancel loads of plans in her first trimester because she was trying to keep it secret and had an obvious baby bump from early on! She described it as "basically having no abs" after baby #1. 😅

Cinderz123 · 07/09/2023 16:01

I don't think mine is a bump so much I'm just noticeably fatter!! I went into work today and my pants were super tight 😳

dory0 · 07/09/2023 16:27

@CinderRosie I had a scan at WTTW today. I was 7+2, they told me it would be an internal scan on arrival and to empty my bladder first.

Beyond grateful and so so relieved to have seen a heartbeat ❤️ we were meant to start IVF next week.

Mammac85 · 07/09/2023 17:56

Evening all how is everyone getting on?

I'm almost 9 weeks now and really must do my midwife referral I keep putting it off 😔 every pregnancy I've been moaned at for being overweight and I know this time will be no different but add in my age and a dermoid cyst on my ovary and they will have a field day.

sugarplum33 · 07/09/2023 18:16

@Mammac85 Not much point moaning at you about your weight now, it's not like you can go on a sudden crash diet in pregnancy! My midwife was lovely, I'm quite overweight and my BMI must nearly be in the obese category but she weighed and measured me and didn't say a thing about it. So not all midwives want to fat shame you!

@Noodles4Me I think you often find out about the scan quite late anyway, I wouldn't worry about it unless you're approaching the 10-11 week point and haven't heard.

@Poppins2016 That's lovely, what a good idea talking about fruit. I panicked and asked for my certificate by post so I'm hoping it's still quick.

@xxcxdonxx Haha kids pick up on EVERYTHING. Has your bleeding stopped?

@Babyrabbit1 Eek I know, it was really exciting. Aww what time is your scan tomorrow? It's a worry when you don't feel like how you expect to but many lucky ladies just breeze through pregnancy without symptoms.

Mammac85 · 07/09/2023 18:38

@sugarplum33 It's usually the consultants that moan about my weight but had the odd midwife over the years too, seems to be the older ones.

Misty84 · 07/09/2023 18:44

@Bluesky85 Not always loose but I’m definitely having very weird bowel movements too and I’m SO bloated ALL the time, so I already look like I have a bump even though I’m only 9 weeks!

@susugarplum33 my scan is at 7pm tomorrow, time will be dragging at work tomorrow i can already feel it lol

CinderRosie · 07/09/2023 19:31

@Noodles4Me when I was pregnant with DS I thought he was a girl right at the start then started getting boy vibes.
This time round I have a feeling it could be a girl mainly because I’ve been nauseous and I had zero nausea with DS. But on the other hand I always saw myself being a boy mum so I can’t quite believe it could be a girl if that makes any sense 😂

xxcxdonxx · 07/09/2023 20:55

@Poppins2016 that’s a great idea on the fruits, I think as he ignores me lots of the time he would do the same, turns out it’s selective!
@sugarplum33 Yes the bleeding has stopped, it was brown blood on Monday and just smaller bits Tuesday so hopefully that’s the end of that episode.

xxcxdonxx · 07/09/2023 20:56

@dory0 that’s brilliant news, so nice to see that little heartbeat flickering away 🥰
