Brilliant news @Caitlin991

@hopefulmum46 my scan went well, little blob had a nice heartbeat & was wiggling away. She actually measured me at about 9w2days, so a week ahead of where I thought I was & pushed me to a March EDD!

Hope your scan goes well :)

Great news :))

hopefulmum46 · 27/08/2023 11:48

@Caitlin991 that's great news 🙂

Hi all,

Can I join you guys please? Just tested this morning and got my positive. App says I’m 4 weeks 5days and due 29 April.

I’ve tried to join the Facebook group but it’s telling me the link is broken - would someone mind please re sharing it? I assume it’s a private group?

thanks a mil x

Halpmer · 27/08/2023 15:57

Link for anyone who wants it, can be slow to post them as only 2 admins and only one really active on the thread! Sorry!

Hi all,
I'm away on holiday and ive had a fall and needed stitches...ideal! Minor overall, I'm just sore and fed up now. The Dr knew I was pregnant but has given me anti inflammatory medicines which are the same type as ibuprofen (called ketoprofen), and i have been avoiding iduprofen. From a Google it says avoid this one too in pregnancy unless "the benefits to mother outweigh the risk to the baby" which seems like a mad way to phrase it! At the moment I will try to avoid taking them but I'm worried I won't be able to sleep from the pain.

Just really sharing for a bit of a moan about how unclear these type of things are!

Doodlestar · 27/08/2023 18:26

Ps Dr also told me I can take the drugs with wine so seems the guidance here is pretty different all round 🤣

Poppins2016 · 27/08/2023 18:41

@Doodlestar I've taken NSAIDs during the first trimester of all of my pregnancies so far (I already have two children), for varying reasons, all prescribed short term and due to benefit outweighing risk. There is slightly more risk taking NSAIDs than paracetamol (acetaminophen), so you could consider trying paracetamol, which is considered a "first choice" painkiller for pregnancy.

Hope you feel less sore soon, it sounds like a rather nasty fall!

Lbw1292 · 27/08/2023 19:13

@xxcxdonxx thank you lovely. I’m okay when I’m out and about but when I’m trying to relax, all I think about is the baby!

I will try and wait until then, we go away week after next so that’s my goalpost at the moment 😂

hope everything is going well with you! Xx

Lbw1292 · 27/08/2023 19:15

@Caitlin991 so good to hear it went well! Nice knowing you’re a week ahead too.. closer to that 12 week marker ❤️

Lilz1989 · 27/08/2023 19:26

Oh wow I'm 5+1 today as well!

Doodlestar · 27/08/2023 20:03

Oh thanks @Poppins2016 , that's very useful! I think this is the universe telling me to take things a bit easy to be honest, I fell off a bike. I'm normally super active and outdoorsy so it's hard to restrain myself before I really feel I have to! So a bit of enforced chill for the rest of our break will do no harm.

maryd84 · 27/08/2023 21:35

Feeling so nauseous today. Took my little boy to supermacs after swimming and I ate some burger and fries. Turns out my body really doesn't want fast food at the moment🤮
Craving mustard this pregnancy and it seems to settle my stomach so been having ham and mustard sandwiches. Can't stomach veg either. Had some plain rice and a couple of spoons of savoury mince this evening which was nice.

Poppins2016 · 27/08/2023 21:53

@Doodlestar I know the feeling... my DH is constantly giving me "the look" for wanting to do more than he thinks I should/allowing the children to bounce on me... (or bouncing with them) 🤣

I keep having to reminding him that the baby is nicely cushioned and I'm not slowing down until I physically have to (which may well not happen, pregnancy seems to be kind to me and in the past I seemed to just keep going)!

...just a word of caution, depending on where the stitches are located, do make sure they've healed before cycling again... I once ended up with stitches on my thigh close to my knee and cycled to/from work at the time, which opened the wound up due to the movement - it didn't heal very well!

So I think my crappy year is continuing, I think I'm having my third MC. To top it off my due date for the first MC would have been this week. I wish your brain didn't remember things like that.
I'm going to call the EPU tomorrow, they are closed today and see if I can get in this week. I return to work on Friday for the autumn term, I just can't seem to catch a break.
Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Greenvelvetdress · 28/08/2023 10:06

@CB23CB so sorry to hear this 💛 thinking of you x

Noodles4Me · 28/08/2023 10:13

Oh no @CB23CB I’m sorry. I hope you get to EPU tomorrow. Impossible I know, but try to take it easy x

Oh I'm so sorry. I know my local EPU is open today for urgent appointments so may be worth checking? I had presumed it would be closed x

sugarplum33 · 28/08/2023 12:18

@CB23CB I'm so sorry and I hope things aren't as you fear.

theodora2146 · 28/08/2023 13:49

Has anyone every had pregnancy rhinitis?

I think I might have this, started yesterday my nose was quite tickly and sneezing a lot and today is the same along with my my nose streaming, more sneezing, blowing my nose constantly.

I've never suffered with hay fever and I don't have a cold and feel fine apart from my nose!

Is this anything to worry about?

Lbw1292 · 28/08/2023 15:57

@CB23CB so sorry to hear this.. but as others has said, hopefully it isn’t what you fear.

I hope you are okay 💔 xx

Lbw1292 · 28/08/2023 15:59

I was wondering whether anyone just isn’t “feeling” like certain foods? I wouldn’t quite describe them as aversions but the thought of some stuff I’m just like ughhhh no would rather eat bread 😂 all I want to eat is carbs! I had planned to have salad for tea tonight and now I couldn’t think of anything worse!

Thats an aversion.
It doesnt have to illicit nausea. Just the NOPE feeling.
And yeah, been having it for almost 3 weeks now... Miserable!

sugarplum33 · 28/08/2023 16:29

@Lbw1292 Yep I'm feeling exactly like that. The thought of anything green right now is just completely off putting and all I want is carbs! Going to try to have a little salad with my pizza tonight but it might get left uneaten haha.

Poppins2016 · 28/08/2023 16:57

@theodora2146 I had pregnancy rhinitis with my first pregnancy. I didn't notice it so much with my second. I seem to have a touch of it in this pregnancy though!

Absolutely nothing to worry about, it's just another one of those annoying symptoms!
