Finally managed to speak with my doctor regarding nausea, he's prescribed me promethazine teoclate. Has anyone taken this for sickness/nausea?

Glad you’re okay, ugh yes know exactly what you mean. Good for you for going to hr, hopefully they’ll be all over it as it opens them up to a legal minefield if that behaviour continues!!

I’m 11 weeks tomorrow, last 2 weeks nausea hasn’t been as bad. I thought I’d sussed that as long as I didn’t let myself get too hungry I was okay. Today it’s back with a vengeance.

Does anyone else feel like they look really pregnant already? I'm 8w4d and i honestly feel I look about 6 months pregnant! It's my second but surely a bump doesn't come this early and it must all be bloat somehow even though it feels hard 🤔

@Silverpixieflorence does yours come and go or is it permanent? I bloat but it comes and goes. In the evening I can look six months pregnant but by the morning it's flat stomach again

@SmartiesParty it's permanent! Unless I'm just bloated all day every day I think it might be here to stay 😅

@Mummapenguin20 yes exactly the same as me! I went into the office yesterday (normally work from home) and I swear people were looking at my stomach 🤦🏼‍♀️

Nemo have they already prescribed you progesterone for cervical length, or are you doing a watch and wait to see if it is required?

@LavenderSweetPea I’ve been on progesterone since I found out I was pregnant but that’s due to 5 losses. They are keeping me on it due to the pre term birth in the hope that it prolongs my pregnancy and keeps my cervix long and closed.

Does anyone else think this pregnancy is absolutely flying by? It's so surreal to think in just a couple of weeks I'll be halfway through.

I think it's because for so long I wasn't allowing myself to accept I was pregnant out of fear so I only fully felt that I was pregnant a few weeks ago and all of a sudden I'm over 4 months!

Definitely need to start getting prepared. I've bought some clothes etc but should really start to buy the practical stuff so I can spread it out and it doesn't all come at once.

Really pleased it went well @DmcinT - I've been wondering.

Baby brain is real... I have somehow managed to order completely the wrong size bikini for my holiday next week (and only realise when it arrived). Also managed to book a random seat in the middle of the cinema as well as the seats I actually wanted. Have left my keys in the door a few times and it's driving my DH nuts.

No I do as well, I feel like all I have to do is look at food and my stomach grows. It’s huuge by the evening but I think it’s all bloat

@mumtotwox i felt I’ll last week too it was a couple of days felt flu ish and had a headache all around my sinuses too lasted a few days must be something going round! I took paracetamol when the headache got too bad and that helped ease me through

Hi all,
I have my 16 week midwife appointment Monday and cos they couldn't do the combined test at my 12 week scan cos baby was moving so much & couldn't get a clear measurement of the back of their neck, I'm having the quad blood test on Monday. But after reading here about others getting high risks etc and I'm worried that I'll get the same cos I'm 34 and high bmi (if they're factors)

Would it be wrong of me of me to turn it down if they said they won't do the NIPT on the NHS if I got that result cos I don't want the other test they do where they take fluid from the baby cos of the risks.

I found out 3 days ago that im 5 weeks pregnant. We didn't think we could conceive naturally as husband has antisperm antibodies! So we are very grateful! but equally im obsessively going toilet to check everything is ok because i have period like cramps! Ive read on other threads that this is perfectly normal. Im a worrier so if anyone has any tips on how not to overthink please do share. Thank you x

I had similar at that stage. But if you need your mind putting at ease contact your early pregnancy unit and they'll see you and possibly give you a scan. I think it's due to things expanding etc. big hugs and congratulations xx

@choberry big congratulations! It’s normal to get pains at that stage I think really. Your bodies starting to make space for the baby so everything is stretching. But if your concerned I’d ask for an early scan to ease your mind 😊

@CheeseAndCrackersx I don't think it would be wrong at all to turn down the quad test if you aren't going to be offered the NIPT. The amnio is very invasive and as you say carries risks, lots of women would choose the same. Tbh plenty of women choose not to do any testing at all and that's absolutely their right.

I'm pretty sure though an NIPT is standard though across the NHS when you've had a high risk quad or combined test so it shouldn't be a problem, but your midwife will be able to confirm what the process is in your area.

@CheeseAndCrackersx I was in your exact position, couldn’t do 12 week combined as couldn’t get the measurements behind the neck. However, the sonographer did say “subjectively all looks fine”.
I was offered the quad and naively agreed. My personal experience that followed wasn’t great.
No one actually told me that it’s only 70/80% accurate and has a higher false positive rate that other screening.
Hence why I was thrown into blind panic when they called me (while I was on holiday) and said my risk was 1 in 13, I am 38, but even that only makes it 1 in 150 I think.

I had already paid for a NIPT test a week before my quad results came through. Again, no one told me that in my area (East Lancashire) you get a NIPT test on the NHS if you come back high risk.

What followed was 6 days of anxiety and frantic googling / scrolling through mumsnet for answers I would never find.
Agonising over if I’d risk an amnio if my NIPT came back high risk.
Though they did say I could just wait till 20 week scan as that’s a full anatomy check for any abnormalities if I didn’t want to risk amnio.

NIPT test cam back low risk which was a massive relief.

In hindsight, personally, I would never have had the quad test if I’d known of its unreliability and high false positive rate. I would have just paid for the NIPT earlier.

If you’re a worrier (like me) and you can pay for NIPT that’s a more reliable way of screening.
Or maybe hold out till your 20 week scan where they can look for soft markers.
Other than that check if your trust offers NIPT if your quad did come back high risk. Just be prepared for the wait in between of getting results.

It’s so tricky knowing what the right thing to do is. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.

Anyone else getting mega reflux with sulphur burps?? It’s making the sickness worse and I just can’t find anything to stop it!
the burps are vile!! Usually fine in the mornings then the gassy smell starts during the afternoon and starts really aggravating my (already bad enough!) nausea!
im feeling so damn attractive right now 🤣🤣🤣

We had our gender scan today🥰🥰 and did a little reveal balloon with close family.. early glimpse was right, it’s a GIRL 💖💖🥰 such a lovely little celebration. The scan was so detailed too, she went through brain development, all her organs, checked her top lip for cleft lips etc.. it was amazing. She’s a wee scoot in the 40th percentile size wise but myself and DH are small too so kinda expected that.

@Kelb79 yeah that was me saying on the reflux the last day, it’s actually the worst and makes me gag so then I puke 🙈 wonder is there anything we can take for reflux

@DmcinT ask at the pharmacy mine gave me some generic gaviscon stuff. You can also take rennies.
