Thank you ladies💕
I’m okay, but you know how it is when your so hormonal and really trying not to cry when someone’s being a dick!
Glad you’re okay, ugh yes know exactly what you mean. Good for you for going to hr, hopefully they’ll be all over it as it opens them up to a legal minefield if that behaviour continues!!

@CheeseAndCrackersx I think honey has been shown to be as effective as cough suppressants - so hot lemon with a good dose of honey might help. Hope you feel better soon.

Nemo145 · 24/08/2023 15:05

Finally got hold of the hospital. They were calling with my quad results which has come back high risk. 1 in 13 for downs. It’s really thrown me and I’m now really worried and stressed about it. I had a NIPT test on Sat so hopefully the results for that will be low. It just seems to be one thing after another with this pregnancy.
Has anyone else had a high quad test result?

novamama · 24/08/2023 16:03

@CheeseAndCrackersx

Ughhh that sucks!

I don't usually take syrups, but worth checking some natural medicine syrups - pine tree syrup is supposed to be good for cough - maybe you find something allowed in Holland and Barrett? Please share if you do.

Otherwise what helps me and I know is allowed are: salt gargles (but salt needs to be saturated in water) at least twice a day and breathing in vapour of chamomile tea. I basically buy loose chamomile, chuck a heaps into the pot, simmer 2 min, take off the heat and breathe in 10 min. It helps my cough and breathing a lot.

Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!

DmcinT · 24/08/2023 17:38

@CheeseAndCrackersx i had the same a few weeks ago and spoke to my pharmacist, he had lemsip without decongestant, just ask for it at the counter. @MrsW9 pharmacist advised to not have honey, it’s not recommended in pregnancy, I suppose it’s straight from bees (could contain harmful bacteria apparently)

I also gargled with salt and water and used hot water in a bowl with my head over it and a towel to help clear airways xx

hope that helps

CheeseAndCrackersx · 24/08/2023 18:22

Thank you all for the advice Smile

when my nose was stuffy the other day I thought ah it's just the normal stuffy nose symptom but boy was I wrong 😄

LalalaBubs · 24/08/2023 18:29

Has anyone passed their GD test at 16 weeks and then passed again at 26 weeks?

Feeling so happy I got a pass from my 1st one today, it was sooo hard keeping up with the diet during my last pregnancy! ( I was only 0.1 over the fasting level threshold last time and managed to keep all my levels controlled just by diet)

Un7breakable · 24/08/2023 19:11

@CheeseAndCrackersx I highly recommend sterimar. Have persistent congestion issues even when not pregnant and this really helps and is pregnancy safe.

Meeting · 24/08/2023 20:08

Just checking if anyone has stopping taking folic acid? I didn't know you only needed it in the first trimester

anony1111 · 24/08/2023 20:48

@Meeting I have stopped taking it now, well I have stopped taking pregnacare altogether. I feel so much better since stopping it too! Was so so nauseous and felt rough up until stopping it

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 24/08/2023 21:32

@Nemo145 I'm so so sorry about this extra stress. Hopefully the nipt results will be very quick as you had it done on sat already

I'm still taking mine. Only cos I've some leftover from what was prescribed to me so thought may aswel use them up 🙂

Tilly18101 · 25/08/2023 08:03

@Silverpixieflorence yay so glad to read yours are back low risk too! One less worry at least?

@Nemo145 im so sorry your odds are high, hopefully NIPT will come back more accurate for you? Few ladies have done them on here and had low risk result back despite NHS being high risk.

@CheeseAndCrackersx sorry not advise other than olbus oil is great for clearing your nose / get a little tube that you can smell and it definitely helps!

we had our 16 week twin scan yesterday with our consultant who was absolutely brilliant, it took an hour and a half to scan both of them and get all the measurements as the left twin was super awkward and they kept moving about! He’s happy with everything so far, 1% difference in their sizes at the moment which is great (NHS threshold is under 20% for MCDA twins) he just wants to keep a close eye on their hearts as couldn’t get complete checks still being a bit small but he said he’ll check that at 18/20 weeks for us again.

im now booked in for scans every 2 weeks, so think I am going to be very familiar with our hospital but it was such a sigh of relief to see them again and growing - I find it absolutely bonkers how different they look at each scan as they grow so fast! We could really see one twin proper stretching out kicking the other - going to be trouble!

also @MummyTo4BoysXXXX early glimpse said girls for us and yesterday confirmed girls at our scan 🩷🩷 So I’m going to say that’s really good for yours to be confident in being a girl too!!

pray for my husband ladies - he’s totally outnumbered! Haha!

undercoverhero74 · 25/08/2023 10:20

@Nemo145 oh I'm so sorry my lovely, I have everything crossed for a low risk outcome as I know how anxious the wait is. If you had the NIPT on Saturday you should hopefully receive your results today.
Sending all the positive vibes your way 🥰

Nemo145 · 25/08/2023 16:48

sorry if I’ve missed this in an update. @Silverpixieflorence @undercoverhero74 How did your NIPT go after the NHS screening? I’m majorly freaking out about the result of my quad screen. I knew it would be higher as I’m 38 but I didn’t expect that high.

Silverpixieflorence · 25/08/2023 16:55

@Nemo145 my high risk was 1/62 but then came back on the NIPT as low risk and all ok. Did they say what had affected your risk score? Mine was due to low Papp-a they said and my age combined made it then high risk. Did they say when you could expect the results? The wait is horrible I'm sorry lovely, hopefully you'll get the results asap 🤞🩷 xxx

Nemo145 · 25/08/2023 17:09

@Silverpixieflorence Because I had to have the quad test I think it tests different things. They didn’t even mention Papp-a. They mentioned it was a combination of age, hormones in my blood, weight and family history.

undercoverhero74 · 25/08/2023 17:38

@Nemo145 my screening results came back as 1/130 chance however the NIPT came back low risk. Mine was also due to low PAPP A and I have been booked I know for an additional Growth scan at 32 weeks.
Mine took exactly 5 working days to come back so I would assume if you haven't had your results you will get them Monday.
Honestly the wait is the worst so I know exactly how you are feeling. X

Nemo145 · 25/08/2023 17:44

Thank you both. With it being bank hol I probably won’t hear till at least tues

DmcinT · 25/08/2023 19:18

@Nemo145 I really don’t know why they give out those probabilities, would they not be better to wait until all testing is done and then make the call. It’s such unnecessary worry. keeping everything crossed for u🤞🏽❤️

just wondering has anyone else’s puking ramped up in week 15/16? I hadn’t puked much at all in first 12 weeks, it was more constant nausea but now I’m physically puking so much 😫😭 it’s so miserable

CheeseAndCrackersx · 25/08/2023 20:05

Hi all 🙂 Just a little update in regards to my cough/medicine question yesterday; I managed to find Benylin Dry & Tickly Cough Syrup which says on the box is fine for pregnant and breastfeeding women. So take note ladies or even stock up ready for those pesky winter colds 🤧😄

PS; really starting to feel like my bump is resembling the shape of an egg 😂

Kelb79 · 25/08/2023 23:51

@DmcinT my puking has been a constant feature since 4 weeks (I’m 14 now 😵‍💫)
I pray it’ll stop soon, I’m miserable!! But no let up yet 😩😩

Goblet93 · 26/08/2023 09:59

thinking of the ladies who are awaiting results, hoping the wait isn’t too painful x

I had my first midwife appointment yesterday at 17 weeks and my trust does use a doppler during appointments so I got to hear baby’s heartbeat for the first time 🥹 I also have a private scan today to hopefully find out gender! I had a dream two nights ago that it was a little girl 😂

anyone else having the strangest vivid dreams? Some nights I feel like I haven’t slept because I’m so busy in my dreams haha

sherbertlemon17 · 26/08/2023 10:01

Hey everyone, I’ve been quite quiet as we’ve been away. Really glad lots of NIPTs are coming back positively.

@DmcinT I've just come on to ask a puking related question. I’ve had a tummy bug for a few days and can’t keep anything down, mostly being sick. I can tell I’m dehydrated because I’m so so thirsty, I’m sipping on water but then within a couple of hours I just bring it all up. I also look like I’ve lost quite a lot of weight around my face.

At what point should I give the midwife a call do you think? Or do you think I should just ride it out? I’m conscious of bank holiday and not being able to get to the Drs.

Hey everyone, I’ve been quite quiet as we’ve been away. Really glad lots of NIPTs are coming back positively.
