Congrats to all the mummies on the new bubbas!
I've got to the next stage of induction and am having the oxytocin drip after my waters broke naturally.
Getting impatient to meet him but getting closer now!

VanillaOat · 01/10/2023 15:27

Congratulations everyone, it’s so amazing hearing all your wonderful news and safe arrivals!! ❤️

Just out of pure nosiness, is anybody willing to share the names they have gone for now their babies are here (first names only of course!) ? Correct me if it’s not Mumsnet policy to do so, I’m just interested to hear after speaking to you all for the past 9 months 😂!

FTM and 39+1 here with absolutely no sign of my little girl so far although she is fully engaged, trying every bloody trick in the book…

Onethingiwantfor23 · 01/10/2023 18:50

Congratulations to all of those that have had their babies! Mine will soon be here via C-Section the week of the 9th @ 38 weeks due to Gestational Diabetes. It's predicted to be a big one but I'm hoping they're wrong!

Possibly a bit of a random question but do they cover you whilst in theatre or are your bits exposed? Also, slightly embarrassing but what do you do down there in terms of pruning Grin I've been through 3 years of IVF treatment and kept it short but, I can't even see down there now and I'm doing this pregnancy solo so no partner to help Blush

Sagittarius25 · 01/10/2023 18:53

@Onethingiwantfor23 in terms of pruning I've taken to slightly dodgy trimming jobs with a mirror 😂 got a husband but don't really want to ask him to do it lol, anyway, been making do with the mirror method and it works out ok

Onethingiwantfor23 · 01/10/2023 19:08

Haha @Sagittarius25 I've tried infront of the mirror but was hard going with this lump in my way and I couldn't breathe Grin maybe I'll just try a bit at a time before my C-Sec next week. I'm sure they've seen it all but I do overthink these things!

Sagittarius25 · 01/10/2023 19:09

@Onethingiwantfor23 ah no I mean I had a little hand mirror so I could get a good angle 😂 it's still tricky though!

Smiffette · 01/10/2023 19:14

@Sagittarius25 haha I did that last time because of lockdown.

I've actually got waxing booked next week so praying the one doesn't make an appearance before then!

colourPink · 01/10/2023 19:18

Hi guys, jumping on this thread if that's ok.

I was actually due 27th September so I'm 40+4 today. My September baby has turned into an October baby!

Feeling VERY fed up and so ready for baby but he seems pretty comfortable!

Thought I was going into labour last week when I went to the toilet and every time I wiped got blood. Turns out I'm that fat I can't see to shave and had sliced a flap. I'm just giving it a quick once over and hoping it doesn't look like a half shaved dog 😂

NSx · 01/10/2023 19:42

@ttcttc omg 😂😂😂 I’m laughing but it’s not funny. Are you ok?

ttcttc · 01/10/2023 19:44

@NSx aww yeah I'm fine. I was on my way out to my baby shower so I was like oh my god of all days. I just kept wiping and looking at it. I even smelt it 😂 ffs. It was fresh red blood so ... yeah. 🤔

I said to my boyfriend should I mention to the midwife I can't shave and he was like " 😳 no. And do not mention it while I'm there" 😂

peonygirl · 01/10/2023 20:20

@ttcttc oh my, I am laughing out loud. Your boyfriend's reply is a typical male reply, I can see so many guys saying exactly the same.

@Onethingiwantfor23 I am also solo and look like a bush woman down there. I was told not to worry, if they need to shave anything they will. I will trim as much as I can but generally, I am not worried, there's no beauty in any of this. As said yesterday, I am already in granny disposable panties so having a granny bush is quite fitting :)

katherine123x · 01/10/2023 20:29

@Onethingiwantfor23 you are totally exposed yet you can't see anything. They put a catheter in etc but do slightly cover you up when they start surgery!

In terms of pruning I really wouldn't care. I thought I'd done an ok job. Now I can actually see, not so much 😂

OrionNebula · 01/10/2023 21:22

I haven't been able to see down there for months! I had a wax the other day, not because I am remotely self-conscious about anyone seeing hairy bits, just because I think it will be easier to keep clean with all the bleeding after.

thecatsthecats · 01/10/2023 22:13

I've always been blase since my first ever smear was done. I had to bloody pelt it to the GP because I was running late, was going to shower after work.

I wasn't booked in, but the nurse said "you'll be sent your letter soon, do you want me to book it on or do it now?".

I told her I'd legged it there and was a sweaty mess, but she was welcome to if she wanted. And so we just cracked on.

I do wonder though... how much do you wear during labour? I've got a nice loose dress to wear and an old bikini top, but I assumed that you'd just wander around knickerless for the labour otherwise...?

peonygirl · 01/10/2023 22:36

@thecatsthecats I was told long T-shirt, something old, nothing special. Comfortable. And yes, you are covered just on top, the rest is obv. without anything. If I wouldn't have c-section I'd want a pool birth so I was told only a bra can be left on (honestly, I don't mind being naked at all). At the section, I think they give you a gown, and the rest is exposed.

PrimarilyParented · 02/10/2023 00:14

@monsteramunch i’m currently recovering from a section, my tips are:

  1. check your not sitting so that your catheter can’t drain as this causes pain that you think is coming from your scar.

  2. peppermint water to get rid of the gas is amazing! This has made such a difference to my pain levels as the doctor explained how the pressure of being bloated hurts your scar.

  3. take lots of fruit/fibre rich foods and fruit juice of your own to hospital. They will tell you to avoid constipation but the hospital food is very lacking in fruit/fibre and won’t help.

  4. get up and moving. My sons have both been in the NICU so necessity meant I have been walking to/from the NICU since 12 hours after my section, it’s often sore/hard to get up but steadily moving around helps loads and I am now 48 hours post section and mostly feeling normal walking around just on paracetamol.

  5. take all the pain meds they offer.

Thanks! It seems like an odd thing to miss out from all the guidance to me in terms of making women comfortable, and like you I'm a blase exhibitionist around healthcare workers!

katherine123x · 02/10/2023 12:11

Ladies if you don't have nipple shields and plan to bf buy some!!
After two days of excruciating pain, the relief is unreal!!

OrionNebula · 02/10/2023 12:30

Our baby girl arrived safe and sound by c section at 10 am! She's big, 3.9 kg and I was still a week off my due date so quite glad I didn't have to push her out! 😂

Flying12 · 02/10/2023 13:12

@Koalawhala yes we ended up having planned c section as baby boy was breech and never got the memo to turn.

@katherine123x glad you said this! I’ve got some that I’ve started to use as my nipples were becoming so painful. I can’t quite get him to latch properly without hurting me that I was tempted to give up but at least now the shields offer relief and makes it much more pleasurable. I’ve just read it can affect your milk supply but he seems to be getting enough right now

peonygirl · 02/10/2023 13:14

@OrionNebula oooo what a lovely news! Congratulations!! I am totally with you on 3.9kg and not pushing her out 😁I hope your recovery goes well and you both are doing fine. Enjoy the cuddles!

p.s. is this the first girl in the group?

doeandfawn · 02/10/2023 13:17

@OrionNebula congratulations!! ❤️

Lots of fomo watching everyone meet their babies, 3 weeks today until my scheduled section feels like a lifetime.

Koalawhala · 02/10/2023 15:05

Congratulations @OrionNebula! I hope you're doing ok.

Three weeks today for me too @doeandfawn! When is your actual due date?

PrimarilyParented · 02/10/2023 15:07

Great advice. Also if it is painful, insist they properly check for a tongue tie. It’s not routine to check and I know lots of people whose babies had a tongue tie that wasn’t diagnosed for weeks or even months.
