@buckingmad my DD is 3 in October and we're still not there with it. She is in pre-school now and seems to be picking up from older children when there but no interest at home.

I think I'm going to go cold turkey one weekend when both me and DH are around. Armed with a pack of Stickers and box of celebrations 🙈

Luhou · 16/08/2023 14:49

Do you use pull ups supposed to nappy pants nappies? Helps them feel when they've wet a bit more.

Mummyme87 · 16/08/2023 15:05

@Luhou we’ve never used pull ups, just normal pants

Luhou · 16/08/2023 15:11

Yeah, my DD hasn't grasped the concept well enough yet for pant. we have tried on many occasions but she'll just wet them through over and over. We keep trying!

buckingmad · 16/08/2023 17:27

I think I’m going to go straight to pants. I’ve read pull ups can make them think it’s a nappy so more inclined to still wee. It also feels like another step to later overcome!

Dannic2018 · 16/08/2023 17:33

@Luhou my ds is 3 in October and is starting pre school next month and honestly we haven’t tried really because he’s the most head strong/strong willed child ever and as much as he knows before he needs a wee and poo, we suggest the potty and he point blank refuses. So I’m going to let him lead and I think going to pre school with older children will help. I don’t want to make it an issue and he hate it. I did the same with my other son and he did it when he was 3 and a few months and had zero accidents, so hopefully he will follow suit

Hummusanddipdip · 16/08/2023 17:57

Same here, cold turkey when ds was 2, potty came everywhere we were. I would suggest sit on the potty as soon as awake too, helped ds keep dry over night, wee before bed and then as soon as he woke up.

He told me last week he doesn't need his toilet seat anymore... hes only just 4!!!! Definitely not my baby anymore.

Luhou · 16/08/2023 18:35

@Dannic2018 that's good to hear. I am also the parent to a strong willed todler. She will use the potty and is still very positive about it all but just can't seem to go from using potty couple of times a day to completely dry.

They all do things in their own time!

How are you finding general life at the moment with being pregnant and one of that age? I have been tested this afternoon, grim headache and endless tantrums. Usually she's pretty good to be fair. Very excited to be a big sister.

Luhou · 16/08/2023 18:41

For those saying cold turkey, I do agree this is the best way provided todler is ready. We have tried this on several occasions and just not getting there so just encouraging her as much as possible.

Hummusanddipdip · 16/08/2023 18:43

Also, we used training pants rather than pull ups as they feel like pants, but give that extra layer of protection against wetting through but allowing them to feel damp, if that makes sense?

Mummyme87 · 16/08/2023 19:14

ds1 trained in between Christmas and NY 😬 with loads of travelling. He just seemed to want to do it then, they pick their moments!!

Salamander91 · 16/08/2023 19:14

Smarties worked a treat here. Not too much sugar in one go but a nice little treat 😁

I had my anatomy scan today. It went perfectly 🥰 he had the cord between his legs though so I'm glad we had a gender scan lll

sashastuck · 16/08/2023 19:54

@Salamander91 excellent news 🩵

My car got written off today, luckily I wasn’t driving. Have been checked over and baby’s heartbeat seems fine, tbh I was fine but it’s always a worry. Now got to look for a new bloody car!!

Mummyme87 · 16/08/2023 20:27

@Salamander91 good news that your anomaly scan went well

@sashastuck sorry to hear about your car accident, but glad you’re all well. I love looking for new cars 😬😬 we need a new one before baby arrives

FirstT1meMum · 16/08/2023 20:38

@sashastuck oh my how stressful!! Glad you're all okay!

lilluce95 · 17/08/2023 06:55

@Salamander91 glad to hear everything went well 🥰

@sashastuck oh my goodness I'm glad you're ok - super inconvenient time to look for a car but personally I find it fun haha!

Luhou · 17/08/2023 07:12

@sashastuck sorry to hear about your accident, glad you and baby are doing okay.

Flossiepot · 17/08/2023 08:10

Glad the scans are all looking good 🥰
@sashastuck Gosh, glad you and baby are ok. Xx

lucya66 · 17/08/2023 08:14

@sashastuck blimey last thing you need :( glad you and baby are ok that must have been scary.

I had my 20 week scan yesterday too. All fine except they panicked me by saying I had Low amniotic fluid oligohydramnios on my notes and then after a wait, saying it was a clerical error. I started googling during the wait but hope they are right it’s an error.

I also got my whooping cough booster. Does anyone know how to get a mat b1 form as they said they would give me one, but forgot, I think.

Salamander91 · 17/08/2023 08:31

@sashastuck I'm glad you and baby are both okay ❤we also have to go car shopping. We need to get a 7 seater now we're on baby #4

@lucya66 glad you're scan went well. I'm sure it was just an error. I was wondering about the matb1 form too because I don't really see a midwife because I see my consultant every fortnight but I'm not sure if they do them. Google says you can ask GP.

sashastuck · 17/08/2023 09:03

Thank you for your well wishes everyone. ❤️My partner got the brunt of it but he’s okay today and that’s what matters. I HATE car shopping, anything to do with cars 😂 has anyone had an Audi A1 and would it comfortably fit baby in the car seat, possibly a second baby in a couple of years? I only want something small.

@lucya66 glad your scan went well, thank goodness that was an error!! X

Hummusanddipdip · 17/08/2023 09:03

Oh gosh @sashastuck last thing you need! Glad you and baby are OK and hope noone was injured!

Love a clerical error @lucya66 I changed Dr's last year, one I'd been at previously I'd been at since birth, but somehow on my notes it said I was a heavy smoker.... never smoked in my life 🤣

Glad your scan went well too @Salamander91

My midwife told me she'd give me my matb1 form at my 24 week appointment, then said no I won't as you aren't having one, my next is 26 weeks. But said if I need it before then to call the gp and they will get it sorted for me, assume that's the same in every trust?

My bump seems to have shrunk? I can get back into my normal jeans again... but of what is there bumpwise, its solid. Should I be worrying? Because I am.

LittleAlien24 · 17/08/2023 09:13

@Salamander91 @lucya66 good to hear yer scans went well
@sashastuck i know it's a nightmare but better car than any one of ye
@Hummusanddipdip omg i thought im going crazy because the last few days i noticed my bump has gone smaller, don't feel pregnant at all and im 18+5 by night time it's bigger but probably food and bloat

I need sleep. Another night of tossing around the bed. Now I'd go for a nap but can't because im waiting for the cowboy builders to come again. They were here yesterday to cement around the new garage door, the broken sides. 5 hours and 20 minutes later the 2 of them still didn't finish and the work that is done is not good 😩 and all this was meant to be finished a week ago

TunnocksTCake · 17/08/2023 09:38

Glad to hear about all the positive scans coming in :)
@Sashastuck, Im with you on that, both me and DH hate cars in general, and how much they cost, and I have to research EVERYTHING for hours so it would take me months!!

I'm sleeping awfully already and generally feeling really bleh... I am getting leg cramps at night (and I drink LOADS of water!) and I am finding it increasingly difficult to do my normal exercises, even light yoga i get dizzy and get pains in bump that make me stop... not sure if I should get another blood test to check iron or something. It's my second time round and I am definitely not as fit as I was last time and my god am I feeling it!

@Luhou I'm struggling with a tantruming nearly threenager too (DD is 3 in sept), I have wednesdays off with her and she was a nightmare yesterday, and in the heat with doing a big food shop I wanted to collapse and cry! Shes super excited to be a big sister but we are already getting phases of her pretending to be a baby and being very posessive (thats MY mummy!) Need to introduce the idea that I am her mummy AND baby's mummy but not sure how much point there is in doing that before baby arrives!

RG9895 · 17/08/2023 09:40

Glad to hear all scans are going well! Ive been rubbish at keeping up with this and filled with anxiety worrying if baby girl is okay but she decided to kick me for the first time last night, I thought I imagined it but felt it again this morning 🥹 I'm 19+2 if this gives anyone else hope as I know some of us have been worried about not feeling anything yet! Also only felt her laying down and both times I needed a wee so don't know if that was pushing her up haha I have an anterior placenta too (unless it's moved since 16w)
