Thank you @Matildahoney @Mummyme87 🥰 I couldn't really tell in my nuchal scan as baby was upside down and too blurry! I'm not good with anything like that anyway tbh though haha.

Have attached my 12 week scan here if you wanted to have a nose 😊

Due January Part 5 🎉
Luhou · 13/08/2023 08:13

@lilluce95 aw Arthur is lovely, but unfortunately already used within the family.

We really liked Olive for a girl.

Hope everybody feeling okay, my DD had me up most of the night so feeling double exhausted today and probably will all week.

Mummyme87 · 13/08/2023 08:33

@lilluce95 ooh yes, upside down baby 😂 think on the second one you can see a nub which looks girly. Love to compare when you know back to the scans.

we’re driving half way up the country to collect the boys from my mam who is driving half way down the country.
sick was is back to daily, bleugh.

lilluce95 · 13/08/2023 10:25

@Luhou ahh Olive is a lovely name. Similarly though one of our close friends has just called their baby girl that haha.

Hope you're not feeling too bad, sending lots of love x

lilluce95 · 13/08/2023 10:26

@Mummyme87 I'm amazed that people can tell, I have no idea what I'm looking at 😂😂

Good luck with the long drive! I love a good road trip but I can imagine the nausea doesn't make it enjoyable 😞 hope you're ok!

LittleAlien24 · 13/08/2023 11:15

@lilluce95 we were planning on using my nannys name Kaja. Even tho it's not English at all my OH likes it and wanted us to use it (he knows how much i love and miss her/ crying here now writing this 😏).
@Luhou hope you and your DD are better today

I woke up half 4 because of a nightmare. Tried calling my OH (he was on night-shift) to talk with him because i couldn't go back to sleep. His numbers were off and messages didn't go through WhatsApp so there's me panicking and forgot all about the nightmare lol

sashastuck · 13/08/2023 11:40

Olive and Kaja are beautiful names.
Anyone else wanting a girl name, I recently fell in love with the name Marlowe. DP only likes it as a boy name but I think it’d be beautiful for a girl!

xLJ1990x · 13/08/2023 11:48

Does anyone have an opinion on swings vs bouncers? Some family would like to buy baby one of these things and there are so many options I'm a bit overwhelmed!

Lightningrain · 13/08/2023 11:56

@xLJ1990x I’ve been looking at bouncers and I’m also clueless about what features are worth it and how much to spend!

I’m tempted just to get a fairly basic one for £50-£60 but then see people recommending bouncers that cost nearly £200 and can’t see how it’s worth the extra money. I haven’t really looked into it properly yet as I was going to see what we’d spent once we’d got all the essentials but would be interested to see what others are going for.

MrsJ6921 · 13/08/2023 12:22

@xLJ1990x We’ve went for the mamas and papas tempo I think it’s called 😊

FirstT1meMum · 13/08/2023 12:32

We put a deposit down today for the travel system and furniture. Makes it all seem very real! 😍

Just wondering, I'm now fairly certain I am feeling movement every now and then. I've had a couple overnight that have woken me where I think she's possibly turning- at first I thought I'd dreamt it but after it's happened twice I think I'll let myself believe it 🤣 Just wondering, these movements aren't in anyway shape or form frequent or in a routine and I can go a full day with not feeling her. Is it normal to only feel baby sporadically at this stage (19 weeks today)? Also I think I have an anterior placenta and a raised BMI if that makes any difference. Don't want to start worrying unless I have to!

Mummyme87 · 13/08/2023 14:25

@FirstT1meMum majority of people don’t feel baby move until after 20weeks and definitely not regularly for a good few weeks after. Honestly don’t worry about it at this stage.

on the bouncer front for the boys we have a basic one that vibrated which was great, and they definitely used it. I’m tempted by one of those swinging moving ones this time. Was hoping market place might have one

Lightningrain · 13/08/2023 14:58

@FirstT1meMum I had the discussion with my midwife about movements earlier this week (I’m 19+3 but was late having my first appointment with her).

I’ve felt no movements whatsoever yet and she said it’s completely normal and they wouldn’t be wanting to check baby unless you were beyond 25 weeks. She said it depends on where your placenta is but they expect it to be later on for first time mums. My BMI is normal as well so in my case nothing to do with that.

I was reassured when she found the heartbeat with the Doppler anyway. Looking forward to my scan on Thursday!

LittleAlien24 · 13/08/2023 16:16

I had no swing with my girls and just the most basic bouncer with second one, no vibration even 😁 have the same type now for this baby

sashastuck · 13/08/2023 19:23

I think we’ve got a basic-ish one too @LittleAlien24 - a hand me down, super grateful as these things get can so expensive! I’m glad the choice has been taken away from me 😂

A little reassurance please - painted a door today with a solvent based paint. NHS says to avoid solvent based. I did 2 coats and have fully ventilated the flat, but feeling really guilty that I didn’t think about the risks before. DP is going to do the rest at times when I’m out the house but the smell of the paint really lingers! Ended up in bed with a headache after for an hour. Do you think this’ll be okay?

Hummusanddipdip · 13/08/2023 19:33

I think you'll be OK @sashastuck as long as you're getting clear air through with good ventilation. But if you start to feel unwell in addition to the headache maybe seek some advice from midwife/gp?

On the getting baby bits, been really lucky with hand me downs. But I've been thinking about getting a new changing bag (I've still got the backpack that I had for ds, but it's now my work bag as its the perfect size for my laptop and other bits I take into school for interventions) I've seen some online that have a cot bit in the back so if you're out and about you've got a secure space for nappy charging/naps which seems quite a good idea, although I suspect there will be days of baby on front ds on my back, so not sure a backpack will be the best choice.
What kind of bags is everyone else thinking?

FirstT1meMum · 13/08/2023 19:33

Thank you everyone ❤️

DH is also looking into the automatic swinging rockers, I've left it with him, he loves looking at reviews I'll just do the final say on which one I like the look of! Some of them are absolutely massive though 😳

Luhou · 13/08/2023 19:59

Anybody still not fancying hot dinners? Eating like a todler. Ham sandwiches for dinner tonight.

Due January Part 5 🎉
LittleAlien24 · 13/08/2023 21:18

Unfortunately I've no hand me downs but charity shops and marketplace are my best friends 😂
@Luhou same here, don't fancy any big dinners but could be the heat here as well and im absolutely gone off from half the vegetables.
Used to love onions but can't eat them now because im getting pain from them. Only veg i manage to eat is cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce and olives. Daughter keeps telling me that i have to start eating vegetables again to make sure baby gets everything needed (who needs a doc or a mum if you have a daughter like this 😂)

I felt the first noticeable movement last night ❤️😍 at some point if felt like he had hiccups

Mummyme87 · 13/08/2023 21:45

No hand me downs here either, but had kept a few bits from the boys. Although I can always find more to buy. Made OH look at car seats in John Lewis yesterday.

the backs of my legs are on fire they are so itchy, and behind my knees. Had to take my leggings off it’s so bad.

@sashastuck I’m sure you will be fine. Just keep the window open

TunnocksTCake · 14/08/2023 11:33

@Hummusanddipdip oh wow I had to look up changing bag with a secure cot Ive never seen those before! I agree backpack is my favourite type and I will have the one I had with DD which is still going (semi) strong!
Im not sure how much use you would get out of the cot/ changing bit and it would be extra weight to carry around... I just had a small fold up mat that went in my bag which I used for changes and naps were in pram/ carrier/ car seat.

I am desperate to feel proper movements, I think I have felt a few but still not 100% certain. Second baby too so was expecting to have had more by now (19 weeks) They did say placenta was at the front (top luckily) so that might have something to do with it.

I will have all of DD's clothes if its a girl and actually I know lots of people who have had boys who I am sure would be willing to chuck me their cast offs! I had loads for DD, dont think I actually bought her anything until she was 2! Vinted is amazing for kids clothes and maternity stuff too.

FirstT1meMum · 14/08/2023 12:02

@TunnocksTCake I think DH is close to giving me a Vinted ban! 🤣 They do have some amazing stuff on there and we've had so many things with tags! Total Vinted convert

Flossiepot · 14/08/2023 12:03

Another vote for Vinted - I have been trying to avoid maternity clothes but finally had to give in this weekend and buy some. So many with tags too!!

Hummusanddipdip · 14/08/2023 12:58

When I say hand me downs the majority is hand me backs 🤣 so I'm getting grows and bits out of bags and having flashbacks to ds as a baby. Cried a few times at those too. But things like cot and pram, family had those and have offered them back.

Ds had an awesome door bouncer that was shaped like a mini, it came from my cousin, did his 3, went to my aunt and did her 2, came to me for ds and has also been used by 3 other cousins with theirs since, my cousin that has it at the moment asked if I wanted it again. I love things like that, it's got memories for us all. My grandma has photos of every single one of the children sat in it.

Thats my thoughts on the cot bit @TunnocksTCake it's an extra weight that may only be useful for the first 4 months or so, which would be great for a summer born for like picnics and stuff, but for a winter baby... not so much?

Vinted is brilliant, I spent £25 on mat tops and dresses, got 2 dresses and 9 tops, I'll sell them all on after. Need to get some trousers though, regular leggings aren't cutting it anymore 🤦‍♀️

Anyone else suffering with spots and dry patches? Chin, nose and hairline seem to be breaking out in angry red spots and little whiteheads, and the outer corners of my eyes are dry and red, moisturiser burns, so can't apply that, I tried vasaline to see if that would sooth like it does chapped lips, but my hair just sticks to my face and gets in my eyes
