Yes good luck everyone 🥰
Mines not til the 29th 🙈 19 weeks today, how are we this far already?

Dannic2018 · 15/08/2023 09:23

I’m definitely no expert 🤣🤣 @Mummyme87 just the experience I’ve heard of. To be honest every time I’ve had the fundal measurements they’ve never been accurate for me either, everyone carries different and I carry more baby than water. I was measuring 2 weeks behind with my first son and he was 9lb so I was shocked 🤣🤣. I have a scan with my trust at 38 weeks to check size but that’s because of previous shoulder dysplasia

Mummyme87 · 15/08/2023 10:08

@Dannic2018 it’s true though they are t accurate late, and by not doing fundal height we are missing some small babies. SCan for weight because of prev shoulder dystocia is odd, size of baby doesn’t dictate risk. It’s the diabetic mums who have the greatest risk.

Kalodin · 15/08/2023 10:41

It is interesting as my fundal measurements and growth scans have all been accurate for me with all 3 babies. Wonder how they'll fair for this one!

MrsJ6921 · 15/08/2023 10:41

I have my 20 week scan this afternoon. Our baby girl was having a party last night and kicked 6 times in a row. Can’t believe I’m halfway through!

sashastuck · 15/08/2023 10:58

@MrsJ6921 and @Dannic2018 enjoy your scans today!

9 days to go for mine… cannot wait. Starting to get a little anxious now although I can feel a few bubbles most mornings.

FirstT1meMum · 15/08/2023 11:26

Hormones hit a totally new level last night/this morning.
I've been suffering with slight back ache and my mind went totally into over drive and started catastrophising 🤦🏼‍♀️ Ended up in uncontrollable tears both last night and this morning to the point DH said I needed to ring the assessment unit. So after psyching myself up I rang (and cried to them also!) They were so lovely and explained its probably nothing and just my body stretching but to monitor it and if it gets worse to ring back which helped calm me for a little bit. I just keep expecting to hit a point and the constant worry to subside but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere!!! My 20 week scan is a week today and it feels like so long to wait 😔 Sorry for such a long post just felt I needed to write it all down!

Kalodin · 15/08/2023 13:17

Totally understandable @FirstT1meMum With the hormones and the long wait to the 20 week scan and no established movements yet (they don't kick in until 24 weeks +)

How are you feeling today? I hope you are getting some relief from the back ache.

Hope your scan goes okay @MrsJ6921

I've still a whole month until my scan!

Onedayatatime24 · 15/08/2023 13:26

I'm with you @FirstT1meMum I'm panicking with every twinge! My 20 week scan is 2 weeks today and I cannot wait. Hopefully feel some definite movements by then too to settle the nerves. Bought some tiny socks at the weekend and even that made me feel nervous in case something is wrong and they never get to wear them!! Hope I start to feel some excitement after the scan. Sending hugs, you're not alone!

Congrats and best wishes to everyone having their scans this week!!

Dannic2018 · 15/08/2023 13:45

Hi all, scan went really well and she is absolutely fine. She’s high up which I’m surprised at and a little wriggler but everything looked good. Definitely a girl too 🤣. Only issue is I’ve currently got a low lying placenta so have to go back at 32 weeks. It’s over my cervix and right up past my belly button. It’s funny that I had this with my daughter 18 years ago. So that’s a worry but fingers crossed it moves up

Due January Part 5 🎉
FirstT1meMum · 15/08/2023 14:08

Thank you @Kalodin @Onedayatatime24 . Nice to know I'm not alone! Starting to feel a little better, had a very chilled day and trying not to feel guilty about it!

@Dannic2018 amazing news!

I was referred for a growth scan due to small bump but then baby measured pretty bang on with what the scan said. Think my last scan was at about 37 weeks and they put her at around 6lbs and she came 2 weeks later at 7lbs 1.

I imagine I'll get the same this time, I create a neat bump!

Whataretheodds · 15/08/2023 15:24

Hi all, I have been lurking for a while but I was too nervous to join this thread before (2 MCs, no children) but things are starting to feel more real!

I'm 42 and due on 31st Jan so 20 week scan some way off.

Trying to plan a holiday for September/October and just had a frustrating call with the insurance company. Are any of you planning overseas travel in 2nd trimester?

Mushroo · 15/08/2023 15:26

@Whataretheodds welcome and congratulations!

Im travelling - my understanding was you don’t need specialist insurance or anything. What did they say?

Whataretheodds · 15/08/2023 15:33

@Mushroo thanks - it's a longstanding policy I've got and the woman on the phone was very confusing. Pregnancy without complications is covered as a pre-existing condition but she was saying it was down to my subjective assessment of whether to travel or not as any issues arising from 'natural pregnancy' wouldn't be covered. I asked what if e.g. I go into prenature labour at 23 weeks - she said that may not be covered.
I've escalated as I think that puts me in an impossible position where I don't know if I'd be covered or not, she kept saying 'I'm not a doctor'

Whataretheodds · 15/08/2023 15:33

*premature

Mushroo · 15/08/2023 15:38

@Whataretheodds thats so frustrating. I’d argue that giving birth at 24 weeks is clearly not a natural consequence of pregnancy (as it should be 37 weeks plus!) but I’m not an insurer.

There’s a few articles on Martin Lewis / Compare the Market and they all seemed to say that travelling during pregnancy is normal and everything should be covered, it just gets a bit trickier if you have something like gestational diabetes or you do something mad like travel at 39 weeks.

Maybe try a different policy as a one off for this holiday?

Whataretheodds · 15/08/2023 15:52

Thanks, I'll check out Martin Lewis etc.
I'll also see what happens with the escalation.

It just seems so pointless to have the policy if I get no benefit from it!

sashastuck · 15/08/2023 16:01

@Dannic2018 beautiful picture, glad it went well! Someone I know’s placenta finally moved out of the way of the cervix just 2 days before her caesarian date. Hope yours moves!🤞🏼

Welcome @Whataretheodds and congratulations! I went abroad at 18/19 weeks and just booked a normal, simple travel insurance. Didn’t even disclose I was pregnant actually. But that’s at your own risk obviously x

FirstT1meMum · 15/08/2023 16:02

@Whataretheodds we are planning on travelling abroad late October. As for insurance I don't think you need anything specific unless there's an identified problem. We've not been back long from a holiday and DH had rang the insurance a couple of times to check as there was no specific way of adding pregnancy (they don't make it simple!).

The only thing I think I may need is a fit to fly certificate as I think I'll be over the airline requirements (I think I'll be about 30 weeks)

Whataretheodds · 15/08/2023 16:06

Thanks @sashastuck and @FirstT1meMum

lilluce95 · 15/08/2023 16:26

@Whataretheodds I went abroad not so long ago and when I did my insurance it said that you don't have to disclose pregnancy. I'm unsure if this means you're covered or not though - fingers crossed it'll work out 🤞🏼

Salamander91 · 15/08/2023 16:27

@FirstT1meMum I had a complete meltdown at my husband today and only after realised its because I'm anxious about my scan tomorrow 🙈 the hormones and anxiety are wild!

I'll be having growths scans every 4 weeks from 24 weeks because I'm diabetic. My consultant in previous pregnancies always refused to give weight estimates because they weren't accurate so I'll be interested to see if my current consultant is the same.

FirstT1meMum · 15/08/2023 16:31

@Salamander91 it's crazy how much of a roller coaster it all is! I thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best! So far it's been the most hormonal for me!
Hope all goes well tomorrow ❤️

Kalodin · 15/08/2023 16:37

We will have to see how we both do with the measurements, I'm assuming my Trust still do both @buckingmad , this time around.

Welcome @Whataretheodds , hope you sort the insurance out. Woman on the phone sounded unhelpful, she should know to what extent you'd be insured!!
