Yes @Hummusanddipdip can't do anything without running out of breath. Even bringing laundry out feels like exercise lol
@TunnocksTCake no leaking boobs yet
@FirstT1meMum yes it's ok to panick. Im 17+3 ans panick aswell specially that i still haven't felt anything yet even tho i can see on scan it's really active.

So had a scan today. Baby all ok, really active. OB said that she actually seen the gender on last scan but because baby kept turning and being in very awkward positsions she didn't want to say anything. She said she wrote the gender down in my folder so she could check it again next time (today). She said she sees the same gender like last time, we are having a boy 😊 and obviously when we went shopping straight after then most of the sale stuff left was for girls 😂

Luhou · 08/08/2023 17:32

@LittleAlien24 Congratulations. Sorry it wasn't maybe as certain as you'd hoped for.

Dannic2018 · 08/08/2023 17:38

I am still feeding my 33 month old but I think my milk has finally dried up so he’s nursing a bit before bed and first thing when he comes in our bed on a morning but I have noticed dried bits on my nipples so god knows what that means and how will my body keep colostrum for the baby and not come out for my son ?
Also with you all with anxiety, my 20 week scan is next Tuesday but I’m just such a worrier, I think I feel her move now on a night but having thrush again just makes me worry about something going wrong. The mind is a powerful thing!!

Inmydreams88 · 08/08/2023 18:00

I haven’t bought anything yet, but how much newborn size stuff should I buy? I was thinking a couple items maybe 6 sleepsuits and vests and then mainly 0-3 size or do I need more of newborn size?

Kalodin · 08/08/2023 18:27

I honestly wouldn't buy much unless you're expecting a small baby.... my first was born at 37 weeks weighing 7lbs and was only in newborn for the first week 😂 better that you have things they can grow into, things can be a bit too big but not great if they're too small @Inmydreams88

Congratulations @LittleAlien24

Hope you manage to get the thrush cleared up soon @Dannic2018 And hope everything goes smooth for the scan, hopefully comes round quick

Hummusanddipdip · 08/08/2023 18:34

🤣 ds was the total opposite, came at 37 weeks (or 38+4 by Dr's notes) weighing 5lbs 10oz and was in newborn to 3 months and is still in 2 to 3 years at 4 🤣 it's so funny seeing him next to the other children in his preschool class, he's a dot.

He was top end of sga, which is why I'm having growth scans. But talking to MiL and mum both me and dh were small full termers him at 6lbs 10oz and me at 6lb 4oz. We're both quite short, so I don't think I've much chance of a big baby 🤣

Kalodin · 08/08/2023 18:47

That's like our DS3, he was in newborn for ages but that's because he was a 28 weeker. He is still in clothes for 12-18 month olds now at 3.5 years 😅

I am still glad I was cautious with what we bought though! You can always get more newborn clothes (or whatever age they seem to get stuck at for ages) but, if you're anything like me, you'll be a bit annoyed at having piles of clothes they never got to wear as they grew out of them too fast 😂

It also seems like everyone is eager to buy newborn clothes! I had to get DS1 into so many newborn outfits just to snap a photo to say thanks to obscure relatives 🤦‍♀️

Salamander91 · 08/08/2023 18:51

My babies have been 9lb2oz, 8lb 13oz and 10lb 7oz. I won't be buying newborn at all 😂I've got about 20 up to 1 month sleepsuits (mostly saved from my other babies)

MrsJ6921 · 08/08/2023 18:57

@Inmydreams88 I’ve wrote down 2/3 packs of sleepsuits and vests and then I also have a little newborn cardigan. I think it’s good to have newborn just in case 😊

LittleAlien24 · 08/08/2023 19:48

Thanks @Luhou @Kalodin
@Dannic2018 i had thrush basically through out all my first pregnancy. Baby was ok.
@Inmydreams88 it all depends on a baby. My first was disappearing in 0-3 months for a while yet my second one grew into them in week or two lol i rather buy 0-3 months and let them grow into them 😁

Luhou · 08/08/2023 19:59

My DD wore newborn for the first month at least. 0-3 seems massive in some shops and tiny in others. I've bought a few bits over the last few weeks. More expensive stuff I'm buying 0-3 to get more wear. Remember putting DD in 0-3 coat the first time we took her out, it was absolutely huge!

I think that is my only dissapointment surrounding gender is that I had hoped all of DD's little clothes would get another use. I am not sure I'm ready to let go of them yet. But feel like I don't have any reason to keep them now.

Onedayatatime24 · 08/08/2023 20:12

I'm still anxious here at 17+2! 20 week scan is 3 weeks today and feels so long. Can't help but worry something has gone wrong even though I have no reason to think that. No definite movements yet either. Keep trying to make myself enjoy being pregnant but it truly is just an anxious waiting game isn't it?! 🥲

Also too nervous to buy anything, we've bought a couple of sleepsuits and that's it. Think we'll look at prams if all good at the 20 week scan, if only to see what we like!

For those hoping to breastfeed, are you buying bottles, sterilisers etc. just in case? Or just wait until you know either way? Not sure if it's worth buying them if all goes okay with breastfeeding!

Mummyme87 · 08/08/2023 20:33

Check the sizes for newborn. Some are up to 7lb and some up to 10lb. I had 10lb 5 and 10lb babies and they were both in newborn for a good few weeks. 0-3m is massive. 0-1months is good

EL27 · 08/08/2023 20:35

I haven't bought anything yet, only baby stuff I have out of the free Emma's diary/bounty packs! I thought after the gender scan I'd buy loads but think I'm waiting until 20 week scan. I don't want to leave it too late as I hate being unprepared and feel like buying everything in third trimester might be too much stress for me.

Also anyone have any recommendations on bras? My comfiest largest bra is now digging in to my sides. 😳 Think I may need to size up and invest in a good quality one. If anyone has any advice 😅

Dannic2018 · 08/08/2023 20:50

Thank you @Kalodin @LittleAlien24 I’ve got the prescription today so will do the pessary tonight and hopefully get a bit of relief. I stupidly looked in the mirror at it earlier and so shocked at how swollen my poor foof is 😳🤣🤣 not a pretty sight I tell ya!
I was given loads of girls newborn and first size which I’ve piled up then I’ve bought up to 1 month and 0-3 in the next sale and on vinted and my friend sold me two black bags of 0-6 months clothes which are all like new for £30 so I definitely have enough.
I Bought a lush Moses market off Facebook and a woven nappy changing basket to match. Have the next to me still and cot. My toddler literally co slept the majority of the time so it’s pristine 🤣. I kept the close caboo sling and still use monitors now. The only thing I’ll get is a new pushchair and another car seat, look at the Doona for my little car and I’ll look of marketplace for another one I think. With 3 other children in the house and trying to renovate too we are on a budget and I think they outgrow stuff so quickly at this age that I like to recycle and buy pre loved. The cheapest pair of trainers I can get my son and daughter are like £150 so definitely look for bargains lol

RaspberryTime · 08/08/2023 21:22

Yes to feeling anxious. 20 week scan this weekend…hoping that will settle the nerves and worries.

PartRadish · 08/08/2023 22:22

I know I say this at every milestone but I can't believe we're starting 20 week scans! 😂

Had my fortnightly cervical length scan today. All looking good, it's only measuring a teeny bit less than it did at the last one and is still within the realms of 'normal'. I know from past experience it can change very quickly but today it was good news at least and hopefully means the progesterone is doing it's job!

Mummyme87 · 08/08/2023 22:35

It’s crazy how time is speeding up!! Kids will be back to school in a few weeks, then before you know it October half term then count down to mat leave!!! Whaaaaat?!?!

@PartRadish glad scan went well

@LittleAlien24 congratulations on your boy!

I’ve got midwife appt tomorrow, as long as she doesnt get called out tonight, I’ll be 17+4. Eek

lilluce95 · 08/08/2023 22:38

Love hearing all this good news!

I haven't even thought about what to buy let alone buy anything yet, it's all so overwhelming ☹️ I feel the anxiety too about baby!

I saw someone ask about a pelvic floor app, I use squeeze time 😊

Cc33 · 08/08/2023 22:44

My DS was born 7lb 2oz and the 0-3m stuff drowned him for ages! So I'll be getting a few more newborn sizes this time I expect.

On breastfeeding @Onedayatatime24 I had one bottle and some pre-made formula before DS arrived just in case I needed them. I think I got a free Milton tablet from somewhere too. To be honest I was online shopping so much during night feeds that when I moved to exclusive pumping after a couple of months it was really easy to get everything I needed quickly! So I wouldn't buy too much, just enough to give you some peace of mind that you're prepared.

Vikki7 · 08/08/2023 23:27

My children were 6lb 4 and 7lb 8 and we didn't go into 0-3 for a long time! I've already bought plenty of newborn stuff and other baby equipment to make sure it's all purchasedby October-ish time so I can concentrate on Christmas gifts for my first 2 from Oct - Dec. The next few weeks are due to be baby events in most places so keep an eye out!

PartRadish · 09/08/2023 00:32

My eldest was 6lb and I can't remember when he went into 0-3 because it was over a decade ago 😳 Youngest two were 4lb and 1lb so no real frame of reference from them either! I've bought one 5 pack of up to 5lb just incase then just a mix of newborn and up to 1 month so far.

Noodle89 · 09/08/2023 08:59

Congrats on your little boy @LittleAlien24 little boys can be so loving sometimes 💙 all 3 of mine are mommy's boys! Think that's why DH is so happy to have a girl this time. ☺️

My first was 9lb 6oz and was soo long so didn't really fit in newborn stuff, practically went straight into 0-3 months! I had bought so much newborn aswell being my first 🤦‍♀️ with my second I kept getting told he was another big baby so never bought any newborn just 0-3 months then he ended up being my smallest at 7lb 1oz and it was all too big for him 😅 had to go out and buy a load of newborn for him. My third was 7lb 11oz but I did by a mixture that time round so all was OK.
Haven't bought much yet, went out after gender scan and we both picked out a little dress each in 0-3 and my aunt bought one in 3-6 months but that's it so far for clothes.

Luhou · 09/08/2023 09:43

Anybody struggling with joint pain? My pelvis is literally clicking all night long everytime I move. Its not so bad during the day.

LittleAlien24 · 09/08/2023 10:46

@Luhou that's my disappointment with gender aswell. Was really hoping to use the few bits I've left from girls plus i like to crochet and knit so gonna miss doing thise dresses, cardigans and hats
@Onedayatatime24 im planning to breastfeed. not buying any bottles, dummy's or anything to do with bottle feeding. All im gonna get is nipple protectors, really needed them with my second one, well for few weeks.
@PartRadish i had my cervical check yesterday and to my OB surprise it's actually grown longer again compered to 2 weeks ago 😲
Thanks @Mummyme87
@Noodle89 thanks. Just have to get my head around that we having a boy. I've 2 girls and was hoping for another one 😁 i just feel that I've no idea how to be a boy's mum lol

Me and daughter did a bit of baby clothes shopping yesterday. If it be up to her I'd have to buy everything 😂
after all these years waiting and hoping to get pregnant im still not fully there yet in my mind that im pregnant 😁 it feels like it's not my belly and im not buying stuff for my baby. If this lad now decides to move the way i could feel it maybe it will be more real but my ob said that baby is still so small, in 2 weeks or so i should start feeling it
