@Kalodin yes! I’ve got the ‘everyday’ ones and they’re lovely and thick and you definitely can’t see my underwear.

For exercise they also do specialist exercise ones which might be worth checking out as well.

I have a random question, those who know if they're having a boy or girl, do any of the old wives tales about gender ring true?

I'm yet to find out what I'm having (I don't really have an inkling either) but all the wives tales are pretty even between the genders 😂

ThomasinaLivesHere · 01/08/2023 23:29

@lilluce95 If I remember correctly salt cravings are for a boy and we’re having a boy so that’s one that matched me.

Hummusanddipdip · 01/08/2023 23:31

I can't talk about this one @lilluce95 but with ds, I craved salt, carried all front and all bump with little weight gain (5kg all together), and had heartburn. The salt, bump position and lack of weight gain pointed at boy according to old wives tales, the heartburn pointed to hairy child - all of which was right 😂 I had a strong feeling from the beginning he was a boy too.

LittleAlien24 · 01/08/2023 23:33

@lilluce95 with my first pregnancy the old wife tales was quite equal between both genders even tho everyone was sure im having a boy, i thought im having a boy lol but it was a gorgeous little girl 😊 none of the ultrasound never fully confirmed that im having a girl, every time she was in a position that doc couldn't see properly and just said im quite sure it's a girl but i can't fully confirm it lol
With my second pregnancy i really don't remember and with a current one i haven't really thought about it lol

lilluce95 · 02/08/2023 00:02

Aww I love that 🥰 my mum had 3 girls and she craved salty things with all of us! So strange isn't it. What about the Chinese gender calendar? I think it's the age you gave birth and the month baby is born that determines a boy or girl 😂

sashastuck · 02/08/2023 01:39

@lilluce95 craved savoury over sweet and no morning sickness! Also Chinese gender calendar was right for me x

Mummyme87 · 02/08/2023 06:04

With DS1 I craved satsumas and DS2 Daim bars

lucya66 · 02/08/2023 06:51

I was very spotty through first trimester and had sickness most days. So old wives tale pointed to a girl which was right!

Dannic2018 · 02/08/2023 07:53

@TunnocksTCake I am with you with the worry about the pelvic floor area, after 3 biggish babies and two back to backs and shoulder dysplasia’s my 3rd little boy’s birth was traumatic and I’ve never been the same down there. I think I’ve got a bladder prolapse and being pregnant has made it worse. I’m seeing the consultant tomorrow as the chances of having another shoulder dysplasia is high and I’ve got an anterior placenta again which makes back to back more probable 😩. As much as I think a section might be a good idea I also have never had a major operation before and I worry about the recovery time. I’m 39 in November and I think age is a worry for me. Basically either way isn’t going to be fun, lucky this is my last 🤣🤣

TunnocksTCake · 02/08/2023 08:30

@Dannic2018 ooof you poor thing, I know what you mean about c sections and I know a lot of the damage can be done before the birth anyway just by the sheer weight of the baby... fingers crossed for both of us. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I saw a consultant last week about my cervix and asked her opinion and she said it's completely a personal choice but they have put on my notes for me to get referred back after the birth for surgery so that's good. Also referred me for physio which I've had before and made no real difference but I guess it's something 🤷🏻‍♀️
I think for me the deciding factor will be if this baby is big, my husband came out at 10lbs and I just can't do that naturally! 😱

Lilothblos · 02/08/2023 08:46

@lilluce95 I know I’m having a girl but the old wives’ tales have all pointed to boy for me, so they haven’t been accurate at all! Craving salty foods, no morning sickness, carrying low, narrow bump, no breakouts so it would all point to boy but nope!

Salamander91 · 02/08/2023 08:54

I'm having a boy. I craved fruit until about 15 weeks then it suddenly changed to things like lasagne and curry lol

@Dannic2018 if you do end up needing a csection it really isn't too bad. It's a major operation of course but the recovery really is ok as long as you keep up the pain meds for as long as you need them and move about but take it slow. I'll be having my 4th section.

lilluce95 · 02/08/2023 09:14

@Lilothblos I've been the same as you! Except I had really bad nausea in the first trimester haha. Excited to find out 🩵🩷

Flossiepot · 02/08/2023 09:17

All the theory's have told us girl, we found out we were having a boy on Sunday and now thinking about it my skin has stayed so clear, my stomach is rounding but nowhere else so far and my hair has never been better (the signs were there).
There's definitely so many myths and theories around!

Flossiepot · 02/08/2023 09:20

No cravings for me though, still! Should probably be grateful but I kinda hoped I'd be craving all sorts of weird things and driving hubby mad 😹

LittleAlien24 · 02/08/2023 09:33

I did the Chinese gender calendar. It showed both my previous 2 to be a girl and they are girls. This pregnancy it's showing a boy but we don't know the gender yet so will see was it accurate this time as well. My OH is convinced it's a boy, me and girls are hoping for another girl. i would like it to be a girl because i want to use my nanny's name as a middle name plus we actually finally found a name (after all these star wars name suggestions lol) that goes with it and all 4 of us love it 😊 but knowing me and how things go with me, it will be a boy😁

Ttcdcno1 · 02/08/2023 09:38

we know we’re having a boy but fit some of both stereotypes. No breakouts but terrible hair condition, sweet cravings, low bump all in front, nausea in the evenings but not actually been sick at all, exhausted, clumsy (but I am anyway 😂)

Waiting to see my consultant, bit nervous as blood pressure has come back on rather higher side. That's not even why I'm meant to be here!

Thinking its probably because I'm stressed about being here, right?

Mummyme87 · 02/08/2023 09:57

On the pelvic floor front. I have an anterior wall prolapse after my second baby but my pelvic floor was shot after my first. He was a 10lb5 EMCS at 9cm. CS does damage to the pelvic floor also so it’s tricky. My second was a normal birth with a 3rd degree tear, and pelvic floor a bit worse, he was 10lb. I do worry about it worsening again, but as it’s last baby hope to go back to urogynae, he talked about surgical options last time I went. I fixed my overactive bladder anyway!!

buckingmad · 02/08/2023 10:30

Chinese calendar has predicted it right with both my girls. Then I've had bad skin in first trimester with both but def prefer salty over sweet. My bump with my first was neat and in front but I don't know if that is boy or girl in the old wives tale.

Awful heartburn with first and she had lots of dark hair!

Hummusanddipdip · 02/08/2023 10:36

Chinese calendar is telling me this one is a boy.
I have my 16 week apt today, so we'll see if we listen to the heartbeat and if it's fast or steady.

I think fast (like galloping horses) means boy?

I don't mind, but I think ds will be sad if he doesn't get the sister he's been asking for 😂 dh has said it would be nice to have a girl, but he isn't too fussed either.

buckingmad · 02/08/2023 11:24

@Hummusanddipdip I thought galloping horse was girl and train was a boy.

both my girls have sounded like galloping horses to me and I have horses so I consider myself a galloping sound expert 😂

FirstT1meMum · 02/08/2023 11:39

@Kalodin could be anxiety, I always find my blood pressure is higher when I first go in compared to towards the end of an appointment and it's even lower at home!

I'm not too sure about any of the old wives tales (and having no symptoms probably doesn't help!) But chinese calendar was right for me too!

I also found out last week I have an anterior placenta, absolutely gutted as I'm already overweight so knew I was going to be further along before I felt anything and then that's just another blow! I'm not sure if its possible but has anyone ever had an anterior and then it's moved position?

Hummusanddipdip · 02/08/2023 11:40

No idea @buckingmad 😂 I knew it was faster for boy and for some reason galloping horses had stuck in my head from when I was pregnant with ds 😂

No heartbeat listening, won't happen until my next appointment at 28 weeks.

I have however had my letter today for my first meeting with my consultant, I have the 20 week scan and then I'm back in the next day to see the consultant 🤣
