How far are you @MrsJ6921 ?
I'm 17 weeks today and definitely feeling baby inside - I'd been feeling it for a few days and tested it at the scan and had the same feelings so deffo baby 🥰

MrsJ6921 · 01/08/2023 08:08

@Flossiepot I’m 17+4! I’ve been feeling her for about two weeks now 😊

Mushroo · 01/08/2023 08:31

I’m so jealous of everyone feeling movement. I’m 18 weeks and although I have occasional feelings, nothing I’ve thought is definitely the baby.

It’s my first and my placenta is at the front so that’s probably why but I know it means I’m going to be stressed about sensing reduced movements.

For those who have had babies before, are reduced movements obvious? Worried I’m going to overthink and be in triage everyday.

Flossiepot · 01/08/2023 08:36

@MrsJ6921 Oh that's so cute 🥰 Can't wait for hubby to feel it too. I keep saying you must be able to feel it from the outside but nope, he thinks I'm going crazy 😹

Baby gets into a routine around 24 weeks that you will get used too and will know when they're not moving as much as usual. Even with placenta at the front, movements are obvious later on. I've had placenta at the front with my daughter and behind baby with my son and there wasn't too much difference :-)

Flossiepot · 01/08/2023 08:45

How’s everyone getting on after their gender scans? Has it made things clearer / easier for you?
I’ve been feeling so bad as I was so sure I was having a girl from working out when we’d DTD to ovulation and then the nub theory etc (I know never believe a theory).
I’m not disappointed as I’ve never wanted one over the other and I just can’t wait to meet him now but feels like I’m starting all over with the ideas and imagining him 🙈

Bims2019 · 01/08/2023 08:56

@Mushroo I'm 18 weeks today and haven't felt any definite movements yet either. Have had a few sensations that for a moment I thought could be baby, but then decided it's only my regular bodily functions. Just wanted you to know that you're not alone, hoping we'll feel something more very soon!

Mushroo · 01/08/2023 09:14

@Bims2019 @Vikki7 thanks both - reassuring to hear others experiences!

Luhou · 01/08/2023 09:52

Sick again this morning. It's like it goes for days and then just as I think I've turned a corner it comes back. I've got a big regional works meeting today, so perhaps feeling a bit anxious!

Mummyme87 · 01/08/2023 11:05

@Luhou sick again this morning here aswell. Just when you think it’s gone!!

TunnocksTCake · 01/08/2023 11:19

Just caught up after our festival weekend, god I'm knackered! 😑Luckily my boss is away for 2 weeks & its just the two if us in the office usually so I can take it easy. :)

Congrats to all who found out the gender! I think I am going to have to be good and wait for 20w now, 3 weeks to go but no appointment through yet...!

@Mushroo Ive had moments where Ive thought it might be baby but nothing definite yet, I'm 17w. Desperate to feel it properly now.,

Anyone with past pelvic floor issues scared about whats going to happen this time round? I had a fairly minor prolapse with DD birth (minor in Drs eyes but felt awful to me) and its already starting to feel heavy when I do too much walking/ carry her too much. Scared its only going to get worse and wondering whether to have a C section...

Do workplaces have to let you work from home if it can be done in the last few weeks? Our office is up 3 flights of stairs and Im dreading doing that in the last few weeks. Also the thought of being alone in the office a lot is freaking me out a bit... Dont want to have to start Mat leave early when I could work from home, but my boss is weird about it.

Bims2019 · 01/08/2023 11:27

@Luhou @Mummyme87 sorry you're still being sick, hope it eases up for you very soon!

@TunnocksTCake if you can work from home then your workplace should let you as a reasonable adjustment, particularly if you're struggling in the final few weeks. I've seen it done plenty of times, a risk assessment should also help your case especially if your office has loads of stairs and you need to get out quickly in an emergency!

Does anyone else feel slower and heavier already? I'm not at my best fitness wise so might just be that, but I have been walking every day to try and stay active!

youaremysunshine03 · 01/08/2023 11:41

@Mushroo im 17 weeks tomorrow and also have an anterior placenta. Even though it’s my second I haven’t felt anything yet. I had an anterior placenta with my first and although the kicks aren’t as strong, movement is very obvious as baby gets bigger. You can’t miss them wriggling around in there!

@Flossiepot its completely understandable you feel that way. I definitely feel like it’s all more “real” now we know the gender for some reason and we can think about names properly!

@TunnocksTCake you should definitely be allowed to work from home more if you’re able to do your job from home. If your boss is going to be weird about it could you check with HR? By the end of my last pregnancy I was working from home a lot with no pressure to be in the office (this was all pre-covid when everyone was in the office 5 days a week). I just couldn’t face the commute into London in those last few weeks!

TunnocksTCake · 01/08/2023 11:56

@Bims2019 and @youaremysunshine03 thanks, it's a tricky one, it is a TINY company - only myself and boss operationally with a wider 'advisory board' and contractors & no HR team... We have come to a disagreement before about wfh when DD1 was ill a lot, or when Covid was more prevalent, but she stood firm that there is no WFH provision for my role (EA/ office manager) even though I could easily do it from home, all apart from physical filing. I'm still not clear on her reasoning tbh as she wfh all the time but c'est la vie. Until now I have accepted it but if employers have to give more of a reason than that they just dont like it when dealing with a heavily pregnant person that may help me somewhat. Good point about getting out in an emergency too, its an old Georgian building and the fire exit plan is go down one floor and jump out of a window as only one central set of stairs!

Also @Bims2019 feeling so sluggish and unfit its horrid! Trying to walk too but finding it hard to fit in atm.

Flossiepot · 01/08/2023 12:24

Yes @Bims2019 - I'm out of breath just walking up the stairs already and I was fairly fit before 🙈
So real @youaremysunshine03 - weirdly just feeling a little bit of guilt for assuming a gender off a theory. Im so glad we found out so I can look at cute little dungaree sets now 🥰

Kalodin · 01/08/2023 12:41

Ah @Flossiepot I'm so sure we are having a girl, like you based on nub (although sneakpeek said boy) that I'm sure I'll feel similar to you if scan says otherwise!

I've got my 14 week scan tomorrow morning, to check cervical length and to discuss with consultant. DH was meant to be coming with me but as its 6 week holidays we haven't got any childcare for DS! Gutted I'll need to be doing this on my own.

Has anyone else here had the cerclage yet? Did it happen same day as the scan if you've needed it? My Consultant said previously that due to history of premature babies, she reckons regardless of the cervical length, they'll just be putting one in. I'm terrified about it.

LittleAlien24 · 01/08/2023 13:23

@Bims2019 yup i feel like I've bag of stones in my stomach lol and walking upstairs feels like a proper exercise 😁

I never had problems with blocked ears and now several times a week my right ear is blocked and for hours 😏
Have a scan again next Tuesday so hoping we'll find out the gender this time lol

LydiaWalker93 · 01/08/2023 13:25

@Bims2019 me too! I'm not exactly the fittest anyway but god everything feels like an effort at the moment esp when DH walks out a fast pace! 😂 constantly having to go "babe can you slow down a bit pls"

PartRadish · 01/08/2023 14:06

Do you have an idea of what you'd like to happen @Kalodin?

My first measurement was good (a week today until the next one) so they said we could go for a preventative stitch now based on history or continue progesterone and fortnightly scans and if the measurement drops to 25mm or less they'll place an emergency stitch. The Consultant said obviously they both carry risks but that statistically successful outcomes in both scenarios is roughly the same, which really surprised me!

I'd been pretty sure I wanted a preventative stitch but changed my mind during the appointment and we've gone for the watch and wait approach for now. Such a difficult decision though, I think you habe to just go with your gut.

PartRadish · 01/08/2023 14:09

Oh he also said emergency stitch would be same day usually but preventative within about a week. I've started packing a bag today actually to take to appointments/have ready just incase. Which feels a bit mad at 16 weeks!

Kalodin · 01/08/2023 14:19

Not mad at all @PartRadish I was in and out of hospital from 18 weeks last time and was fully admitted from 21 weeks. And I stupidly didn't have anything packed! This time I'm packing it at 16 weeks like you.

I really can't stand the thought of needing any medical procedures. I don't think I'll cope well in theatre, it's hard enough managing my PTSD from the CS trauma going in for the appointments, let alone being in an operating room. I definitely couldn't get a epidural, I'd need to be put under GA.

Bims2019 · 01/08/2023 16:44

@TunnocksTCake @Flossiepot @LittleAlien24 @LydiaWalker93 very glad it's not just me! I live in quite a hilly part of the country so walking anywhere at the moment is exhausting 😂

@TunnocksTCake they do have an obligation to try and make adjustments for you if it's needed, even if it's just reducing your number of days in the office. Hopefully your boss can be reasonable about it, it's a bit rich when they allow themselves to WFH all the time. And the jumping out of a window doesn't sound safe at all, pregnant or not!

LydiaWalker93 · 01/08/2023 16:53

@Bims2019 Tell me about it! I live in the SW of England and as beautiful as it is, it's all hilly as hell!

Mushroo · 01/08/2023 19:26

Whoever was asking for maternity recommendations, my order just arrived from love leggings and I’m so happy with them.

The leggings are such good quality, fit really well and seem much less flimsy than the H&M ones. I’ll be buying more I think!

Kalodin · 01/08/2023 19:53

Do you think they're squat proof @Mushroo ? Won't see my underwear through them?
