Just adding a message to mark my place. Only just found this part 5 thanks for setting it up :)

LozzieLoo · 31/07/2023 10:18

It’s all very exciting everyone finding out what they’re having, I can’t wait!

Is anyone else suffering lower back pain? It just seems to be on the right side above my bum but can’t get comfy in bed and it’s sore when I’m walking about. Not sure if it’s how I’m lying in bed?

Redpanda21 · 31/07/2023 10:47

Can someone share the Facebook link please.

Hummusanddipdip · 31/07/2023 10:48

I have back ache on my lower left side @LozzieLoo I've been paying attention to how I sit/lay/drive/walk etc and have found I naturally twist my body and put more pressure on my left hip.

So it could be posture related? I'd mention it to your midwife at your next apt and see if they've any suggestions on combating it

@sashastuck it's not so bad, I've suffered insomnia since I was young. Plus I've been having 2 hour naps over lunch for the past week and a half

Onedayatatime24 · 31/07/2023 11:06

@LozzieLoo I've been having pain on my right side, lower back and my right hip! I think it's because I sleep on that side as I always feel it more in the evenings and mornings.

Just got back from my 16-week appointment, only lasted about 15 mins! Mentioned the headaches and she said probably normal unless it's really persistent and paracetamol doesn't help. Also didn't listen to heartbeat, she said they will start doing that at the 25 week appointment. 😕

We're hoping to book a holiday to Italy for when I'm around 21/22 weeks which midwife said was fine but check where the nearest hospitals etc. are which has now made me nervous to book!!

Hopefully that should work!!

Does anyone get a funny feeling if they sleep on their back? Last night I woke up with a funny feeling across my tummy, kind of like a wind type sensation. It went off when I lay on my side and I haven't felt it all day. I'm hoping it's just the muscles stretching and nothing to worry about! Seems to be a new feeling everyday!

@FirstT1meMum thanks. Have requested to join

PartRadish · 31/07/2023 12:29

Congratulations on your boys @suz2285 and @Flossiepot 💙

I don't think there will be many but has anyone else started having braxton hicks yet? I've been getting them for about a week now (started at the same time in my last pregnancy, I had/have an irritable uterus and cervical insufficiency, quite the combo 😬) and they're making me pretty nervous. 8 days until my next cervical length scan and I am counting down the minutes at this point!

WitcheryDivine · 31/07/2023 12:32

Sorry if I've missed this as lost the thread for a while - but where are good places to buy maternity clothes? I know H&M and Next have maternity stuff online but are there other good places? Websites? Utterly clueless here!

Kalodin · 31/07/2023 12:38

I am too @PartRadish And I also get your worry with the irritable uterus as I had that previously as well. I do find though, that they calm down if I stay hydrated.

Glad it went well though @Onedayatatime24 , they don't listen in our trust either at the 16 week one.

LozzieLoo · 31/07/2023 12:50

Thanks @Hummusanddipdip @Onedayatatime24 , going to be mindful of how I sleep and my posture. Think it might be time for a pregnancy pillow!

Loving the photos of everyone’s bumps! I’m 15+4 and think I just look a bit podgy at the moment!

lucya66 · 31/07/2023 13:12

@LozzieLoo @Hummusanddipdip yes to back pain on my right side. Mine is more in my bum (coccyx) than my back as too low for back. Is this the place you get it?

well I mentioned it to midwife at 16w appointment and she said to contact physiotherapy as it would likely get worse.

I called them and they saw me the next day. They listened to my symptoms and examined me and said I had a tight muscle here, likely due to vomiting so much. I vomit most days since 6 weeks pregnant and the muscles seize during vomiting and then is tight and doesn’t move as easily. it’s sending really sharp pains when I move/ stand/ turn.

not sure if this is what you have too, but thought I’d mention in case helpful. I got a massage at physiotherapy to loosen the muscle. It helped but I need to go back in 2 weeks and I’ve got some home massage/exercise to do.

if not here, but still pain, could contact physiotherapy. I was really impressed with how quick they helped me :) I guess dependent on trust but still

@WitcheryDivine h&m usually in the kids department, next but online only, Jojo maman Bebe, new look…

Matildahoney · 31/07/2023 14:00

@WitcheryDivine eBay, vinted, Asda, new look, shein. Depends how much you want to spend!

Hummusanddipdip · 31/07/2023 14:26

Yes @lucya66 especially when I'm walking. I walked 5 miles this morning, dropped my car off at the garage and walked home... used to do it no issues, today I had to stop 4 times at places like mcdonalds and Starbucks so I could have a wee and sit down for 5 minutes, and the pain that was my lower back radiated down into my bum cheek the longer I walked 😳

Clothes wise, another vote for h&m, new look and check vinted, I spent £25 last night and got myself 6 tops and 2 dresses. I'll sell them all on once baby is here.

PartRadish · 31/07/2023 15:00

@Kalodin I do need to try and drink a bit more actually so not being hydrated enough definitely could be playing a part now you mention it!

Talking of not drinking enough, I do indeed have a UTI. Rang 111 over the weekend and they said someone would ring me back within 2 hours. Well it was more like 14 hours! They eventually rang me at 2:55am and I was asleep! So dropped a sample to the gp this morning and it's shown infection. They've sent it off to see what grows and I have 7 days of Nitrofurantoin to take. Bit worried about taking antibiotics but I know an untreated uti would have dire consequences on pregnancy so antibiotics are definitely the safer bet!

buckingmad · 31/07/2023 15:24

@PartRadish yes to BH if I've been standing/walking for a while which is same as with my first.

More days than not I'm starting to feel movement now which is nice. Picking up my omeprazole tomorrow as the heartburn is well and truly here.

Onedayatatime24 · 31/07/2023 16:39

For those feeling movements, how far along are you?

I can't wait to feel baby moving, I'm only 16+1, midwife said it would likely be at least 18 weeks before I feel anything.

Kalodin · 31/07/2023 16:58

Definitely get taking the antibiotics, just double check with GP / Pharmacist they are okay to take when pregnant if unsure @PartRadish - UTIs can turn so so nasty. Hope you don't suffer from the antibiotics either.

And definitely up your water intake too! Will help flush the UTI, help your BH (which are probably made worse by the UTI too), and help prevent another UTI.

Redpanda21 · 31/07/2023 18:14

@WitcheryDivine i got 28 items on Facebook marketplace for £20. Most look barely worn.

Mummyme87 · 31/07/2023 21:15

Also tip for taking antibiotics, take prophylactic canesten pessary to stop the thrush, another joy. It’s fun being a woman!!!

Inmydreams88 · 31/07/2023 22:05

I’m 18 weeks on Wednesday and I think I’ve started to feel movements in the last week. I’m a first timer so I’m not 100% sure, but I feel them quite low down. It feels like butterfly flutters. At first I wasn’t sure if it was but I keep feeling it so I’m convinced it’s the baby.

sashastuck · 31/07/2023 22:07

@Onedayatatime24 I’m desperate to feel some movement 🥺 on the plane today I concentrated so hard and felt a couple of bubble like sensations, but I wondered if they were too high up to be baby 😂 let’s hope it kicks in this week for everyone (that’s not felt anything so far!)

lackingpatience · 31/07/2023 22:13

Found out today that my best friend is also pregnant and due a few weeks after us. Very excited to have someone on maternity leave at the same time as me!

Im a FTM and nearly 16 weeks with anterior placenta so expect it will be a few weeks yet before I feel anything. I’ve found the lessening of symptoms a nice change but I’m now at the ok, some sign of my being pregnant would be lovely! The teeniest bump really isn’t much to go on, bring on the butterflies!

MrsJ6921 · 01/08/2023 06:35

My husband felt our little girl kick last night and I just burst out crying. What a lovely moment to share 🥺
