@Kalodin I’ve spent 2-3 hours awake for the past 2 nights as well. I seem to get to sleep ok but then wake in the early hours. It’s so frustrating as I’m also absolutely knackered and feel like I really need the sleep.

I don’t have a reason to be up early today but was still awake at 6:30 despite my sleep app telling me I was an awake between 1:30-4am.

suz2285 · 30/07/2023 08:05

@Kalodin @Lightningrain I wake up around 3 a lot of the time and can't get back to sleep, then I'm ready for a nap by 7am 😂 also with the rhinitis usually I start sneezing as soon as I'm awake and then that's me snuffling for hours - fun times! I'd say I get maybe 1-2 days a week where I sleep through maybe when I get so exhausted! Still wake up about 5.30-6 am every morning though

sashastuck · 30/07/2023 09:21

That insomnia sounds awful! I definitely had some in the first trimester but it’s slowly improving - I wake up a lot during the night but manage to sleep in slightly later now. Probably because my body is finally out of work mode (school holidays!). Have been getting a bit of round ligament pain when I move in the night though, it is meant to be super sharp right?!

Speaking of, I’m off to Jamaica tomorrow. My mum has worried me a bit saying don’t keep bump in the sun, I’ll try not to but it’s
bloody Jamaica! Do you think if I just cover it with a shirt or something at the beach, put SPF 50 on it, it’ll be alright? I’ll be in and out of the water a lot anyway as don’t last long in the heat x

FirstT1meMum · 30/07/2023 09:26

@sashastuck I'm also getting pain in the night, last night was the worse! It feels like a quick, shooting pain and is gone as soon as it came! Hope that's some reassurance you're not alone!!

Wow Jamaica sounds incredible! I think you'll be absolutely fine covered up or not! I think it's more about ensuring you try to keep yourself as cool as possible so your body temperature doesn't rise too high. Definitely agree with the 50 there! Have a wonderful time, I'm excited for you!!

lilluce95 · 30/07/2023 09:28

@Bims2019 we used tesco points to get money off the Eurotunnel 😂 highly recommend! We're going to stay near Brussels for the first half of the week and then go down to Dinant 😊 I'm so jealous you live near the Lake District it's beautiful there!

@Kalodin it's weird isn't it, I even went off chocolate for a little bit too ☹️😂

Mushroo · 30/07/2023 09:36

@sashastuck im so jealous! Jamaica sounds amazing. I’m too scared too go anywhere glamorous in case of Zika (I’m a natural overthinker!)

Take a water bottle that keeps your drink cold - when I was on holiday last week it was a game changer for keeping cool.

Have the best time :)

Matildahoney · 30/07/2023 09:54

@sashastuck I got burnt really easily in June in Cornwall in the shade. I then read up on it and it says you should keep covered really, but you definitely burn more easily pregnant. Have a fab time!

sashastuck · 30/07/2023 11:16

Thanks @FirstT1meMum @Mushroo @Matildahoney ! @Matildahoney you must have taken the good Cornish weather back with you, I was there this week staying with family and it rained all day every day 😂

Will definitely take a bottle that keeps my drink cold, great idea! And I am concerned about Zika, got some of that Jungle DEET spray (have checked it’s preg safe) so will cover myself in that too. Never been outside of Europe before and the one time I do I have to overthink everything, typical 😂

FirstT1meMum · 30/07/2023 11:31

@sashastuck I'd also recommend getting a rechargeable mini fan if you can get your hands on one (unless you already have one)! A bit like the one in the picture. Mine has been a god send while on holiday for like getting ready or if the restaurant AC just isn't cutting it!

Due January Part 5 🎉
Bims2019 · 30/07/2023 11:53

@sashastuck yep I've been having really sharp, short ligament pain too. Sneezed while lying down the other night and it was so painful! Jamaica will be incredible, hope you have a great time!

@lilluce95 that sounds like a great plan, and excellent tip on the Tesco points! Yeah we were looking at maybe using Brussels or Bruges as a base then doing a few day trips. Mainly tempted by the waffles 😂

Matildahoney · 30/07/2023 13:05

@sashastuck I wish I had! It's been pretty grim since, funny enough last year we went what would have been last week & DP moaned I didn't book the same week this year, thankfully I didn't cos it would have chucked it down all week!!

Luhou · 30/07/2023 14:10

Blaming you all for making me book a holiday this morning 🙈

Bims2019 · 30/07/2023 14:49

@Luhou Happy to help 😂 and good for you! Where are you off to?

Luhou · 30/07/2023 15:25

@Bims2019 nowhere as fancy as Jamacia, just spain for some sun!

Bims2019 · 30/07/2023 17:21

@Luhou Spain sounds great! Definitely missing the sun this last week

LittleAlien24 · 30/07/2023 18:49

@Luhou if you heading to spain anytime soon you might catch our other heatwave that seems to be coming again. Where i am Last night after 12am it was still 32 degrees outside and today it's 37.

Im so tired. I wake up every day early morning between 5 and 6am to go to toilet and then im up around 9am, me who hates mornings and never wake up early if not needed lol and then by 10.30 or 11am im wrecked 😏
I think i felt a small flutter this morning 😊 can't wait to feel it properly and more and be sure it's baby moving lol

Luhou · 30/07/2023 19:35

@LittleAlien24 thanks for the heads up, we've got a couple of weeks still so probably will miss it. Although that sounds really hot, so might be thankful. Sorry you're struggling with sleep.

Any recomendations for maternity swimwear ladies?

Hummusanddipdip · 30/07/2023 20:36

Wow, lots changes in a day or 2!!!

I've got heartburn 😫 it kicked in today. I had it from 15 weeks with ds... he came out hairy, I'm 16 weeks on Tuesday, I'm having another hairy baby if the old wives tales are to be believed 😭

On the maternity swimwear, h&m, new look and even vinted are good shouts.

So so jealous of all the holidays. I wish we were going somewhere, but all our savings are tied up in the garage conversion (Booked the works this week, starting in january, so should be finished just before baby arrives🤞) Thankfully all we need to buy for baby is a pram and a carseat, so might go down the travel system route again and see if either set of grandparents are willing to give me and dh their carseat for us to use for baby when they outgrow that carseat (both of them got fed up of moving the carseat from our car to theirs, so went and got their own 🤣)

I'm still waking around 3ish and then getting back to sleep around 6 (term time my alarm goes off at 6.30) I'm still getting up around half 7/8ish to take dh and ds to work and nursery because some days I need the car. Really need to get on with the whole looking for a second car for September 🤦‍♀️

sashastuck · 31/07/2023 06:16

@Hummusanddipdip bless you, that’s not much sleep at all!

I’m gutted, thought we were coming back from holiday on the 7th so I’ve had my 16 week appt booked for the 8th (I’ll be almost 19 weeks)… just been informed because of the time difference I’m going to be back on the 8th and miss it :( absolutely gutted, I was relying on being able to listen baby’s heartbeat (told that they would). Considering I’ll now probably be 19 weeks when it gets rearranged hopefully they can fit me in asap 😭

Flossiepot · 31/07/2023 06:41

Hi everyone, we had our gender scan yesterday and it's a boy 💙
Must say I was convinced it was a girl as was everyone else around us so time to really start thinking of names 🙈

Due January Part 5 🎉
Kalodin · 31/07/2023 07:00

Congratulations @Flossiepot And good luck finding a name! I swear boys names are harder!

Hopefully they'll be able to squeeze you in @sashastuck !

Likewise @Hummusanddipdip , desperate for a holiday abroad!

Made it to the gym today! Been 6 weeks since I felt able to do a proper leg day. Feeling like I may be turning a corner. I hit the 2nd trimester today!

sashastuck · 31/07/2023 07:37

@Flossiepot aww yay! Congratulations 💙

buckingmad · 31/07/2023 07:53

God it’s so hard when you know what baby is and keeping it a secret! We are telling everyone on Saturday at my DD’s birthday party. I’m going to make cupcakes with pink icing inside snd get everyone to bite into them at the same time. Hopefully it goes smoothly 😂

Flossiepot · 31/07/2023 08:07

Aww that's a cute idea @buckingmad my family wanted to know and my DHs don't but it was my mums birthday yesterday so we told them as a little surprise mixed in with her presents

suz2285 · 31/07/2023 08:53

@Flossiepot congrats! We found out we're having a boy yest too! And no idea on names, husband hates them all! eek! We're having another scan in a few weeks with my fam so they can find out, and then our nephew wants to do a gender cannon for his side of the family! It was so cute at the scan yesterday there was a few people getting scans and they were all boys! 😂

I've just come back from a weekend away on the north coast of Scotland, weather was amazing and i'm exhausted! back at work today and got a busy week, feeling it already! And I have to tell my boss about baby tomorrow! EEEE
