@Bims2019 were doing one. We’re going to Portugal in September when I’ll be about 25 weeks. It’s an adults only hotel so making the most of it!

We’ve resigned ourselves to not going abroad next year (and then if we can it’s bonus) so really squeezing in the holidays this year.

NatiNatasha · 29/07/2023 17:45

@LittleAlien24 maybe you are from there or you are living there for a long time and you use know about that wether. I love too hot weather but yes, not now that I'm pregnant. Take care 😊

Hummusanddipdip · 29/07/2023 17:55

My parents are going to America for Christmas to spend it with my brother and his girlfriend. Mum asked me the other day if me dh and ds wanted to go with them and if it'd be OK with dh parents 🤣 I asked her if she thinks I'd be allowed to fly... her face was a picture bless her. She now feels really guilty because she won't be here. I've said they have a life to live, they can't not do something because I could give birth while they're away.

Hopefully we'll be able to go away next year for a week long break. Ds has just turned 4 which means legally he doesn't have to start school until September 2024, he's going because he is ready, but we can take him out with no repercussions from my research and go away term time... Happy to be corrected on that one though.

sashastuck · 29/07/2023 18:01

@Dannic2018 max 1 coffee a day but I’ve gone off it. Occasionally a strong one from Costa.

@Ttcdcno1 I’m a teacher - I’ll defo come back after my mat leave but if I come back lets say Jan 2025 (so after taking a year off), then want a new job (need a school closer to home) … if I leave my school in July, they’re not going to pay me over the holidays are they?
So I feel like I’d actually be better off returning to work Sept 2024, handing in my notice and finding a new school that starts in Jan. So confusing 😩

Ttcdcno1 · 29/07/2023 18:09

@sashastuckyou could return from May leave jan 25 then if you managed to secure a post for sept 2025, you’d hand your notice in May 31st and then be paid til 31st August

@Dannic2018 generally stick to one caffinated drink a day.

So one coffee, coke or normal tea.

sashastuck · 29/07/2023 18:28

@Ttcdcno1 thank you!!

youaremysunshine03 · 29/07/2023 18:39

@Dannic2018 like the others I’ve been having one coffee a day (Nespresso shot). Although today we went for a really long walk and I was flagging a lot by the afternoon, felt like I needed something cold and fizzy so shared a can of coke with my DH. Didn’t even enjoy it!

We’re REALLY struggling with names. Have 3/4 different ones and no idea what we’ll go for. We knew our DD’s name right from the start, but this time we’re clueless. Thought finding out the gender would help but no. Please tell me I’m not the only one stressing over this already?! 😩

Dannic2018 · 29/07/2023 18:47

Aw that’s good, I’m having the one coffee on a morning and that’s all. Luckily I’m not a coke kinda girl as I’d stress over the amount of caffeine. I sometimes have a decaf cup of tea on the afternoon too. Tiredness has definitely got to me today. House is a pig sty with decorating and renovating and all I want to do is sleep 🤣🥱

Flossiepot · 29/07/2023 18:56

1 a day here too, I'm having the 2in1 sachets just so I know I'm not over doing it.

Flossiepot · 29/07/2023 19:01

Has anyone suffered with their eyes at all? I've just got blurred vision - didn't last very long but googling there's all sorts of scary responses.

suz2285 · 29/07/2023 19:19

@Dannic2018 coke is my drink. There's only 30-40 mg in one can you'd need to drink like 7 or so cans a day to be over the recommended limit... I've not had any coffee though Im not a coffee drinker and im on the decaf tea, and decaf coke when I Can find it tbh! 😂

Kalodin · 29/07/2023 20:22

As it suddenly come on? @Flossiepot With each pregnancy my eye has got worse. Optician said he sees that a lot. But it is gradual throughout the pregnancy.

Mummyme87 · 29/07/2023 20:46

@Flossiepot definitely get your eyes checked. If that’s okay and keeps happening, see GP. It’s rarely anything on the same level you will see on Google 😊

my SPD is slowly starting. Just pubic bone at the moment, more the soft side but it’s started. And so it begins

Bims2019 · 29/07/2023 21:43

@Dannic2018 I also have the one coffee or tea in the morning then switch to decaf, but think that's still well below the limit.

@Mushroo Portugal sounds lush! Don't blame you for squeezing in the holidays, I'm optimistic that we might be able to get abroad next year but understand that it will be a very different experience! We quite like city breaks so thinking of doing something like that for a few days, with somewhere only a short flight away. I'd really love to go to Norway but that feels a little too adventurous maybe!

@Hummusanddipdip ahh bless your mum. Love that she still wanted to include you! I think you're right on going away term time, would be nice to get away next year if it's possible. My friend and her husband took their baby to Australia last year, so I'm thinking if they can do that then we can try a trip too!

Mushroo · 29/07/2023 21:50

@Bims2019 Norway would be great! A girl I know is doing a Norway road trip because it would be tricky to do with young kids. Also they have great healthcare just in case you need it whilst away.

lilluce95 · 29/07/2023 21:50

@Dannic2018 I absolutely loved coffee but since being pregnant I've really gone off hot drinks ☹️ I have a can of coke if I do fancy something though. I think the NHS website says 2 instant coffees per day is fine x

lilluce95 · 29/07/2023 21:52

@Bims2019 we're going to Belgium for a week in October (we're driving though as I live in England) and then we're staying in Dartmoor for a few days in December 🥰

Bims2019 · 29/07/2023 22:22

@lilluce95 We've thought about Belgium! I've never been and it looks great. Whereabouts are you staying? I'm in England too and we've considered going by train, need to do some research. Dartmoor also sounds really nice, we're not far from the lake district so I might suggest a weekend away later in the year 😊

@Mushroo oh a Norwegian roadtrip does sound amazing, I'll have a look and see if we can manage it!

Flossiepot · 29/07/2023 23:07

@Kalodin & @Mummyme87 I think the Googling got to me but I think it may have been a bit of a migraine which I rarely suffer from. I've just woke up from a nap and im feeling so much better.
Will keep an eye on it though

Kalodin · 30/07/2023 06:06

Yeah do keep an eye on it and I think maybe it's worth a mention to your MW when you see her next, if not before @Flossiepot

I'm the same @lilluce95 ! Gone off all caffienated drink apart from coke.

I recall pregnancy insomnia being mentioned before on here, has anyone found a solution? Just been suffering bad with it past few nights and I feel exhausted

Mummyme87 · 30/07/2023 07:09

@Flossiepot ah yess, also migraine like. We get lots of calls at work with vision changes. Always recommend optician

Flossiepot · 30/07/2023 07:13

Thanks Both, I'll keep an eye on it and get things checked out.
