@SJ456 glad the scan went well!

@STH1988 wow! Congratulations! Must have been a big surprise but a lovely one!

LeopardLover · 25/07/2023 12:49

@STH1988 It's so wonderful watching my friend's twins - and they always have each other for first day or nursery etc. You will definitely make it work! 😍 It's fantastic news. Is it too early to tell what type of twins? Are they in two sacs? X

RosieS22 · 25/07/2023 12:53

@STH1988 incredible! I would be a shocked as you! Wonderful news though! 🥰

MummyJen04 · 25/07/2023 14:08

Amazing news @STH1988 I wonder how many more of us will get a surprise shock! So exciting they are going to have a best friend each growing up ✨

STH1988 · 25/07/2023 14:24

@MummyJen04 @LeopardLover @Aquarius93 @RosieS22
Thanks so much for all your kind messages!
He said it was too early to tell type, though from the scan they look to be in 2 separate sacs. I literally have never even met twins 😂

So grateful for this thread, I am busting to tell everyone!! Have you all started telling people yet or keeping it to yourselves for now??

MummyJen04 · 25/07/2023 14:27

I would like to wait till my 12/13 week scan for friends and work but don’t think I can escape my family. Especially as we have a family event in a few weeks which includes alcohol 🤣 xx

Prudence00 · 25/07/2023 15:23

@STH1988 you're the second person in the thread having twins! Congratulations.

Scarletthoping · 25/07/2023 15:29

@STH1988 that is so cool. Congrats! Is it weird that I’m kind of hoping I’ll get the same news?! Obviously it’s going to be hard work but as they get older they will entertain each other. Excited for you!!

STH1988 · 25/07/2023 15:31

@Scarletthoping thank you!

Haha yes I am hoping that it'll pay off when they are a bit older! This is our first and we only wanted two so hopefully only the once through pregnancy too which is another bonus!! 😂

Keep us posted on your progress!

caitvictoriax · 25/07/2023 15:37

@STH1988 congratulations!! I'm a twin (non identical) and it was always nice to have someone to grow up and share things with! I would love to have my own twins :)

Itsasomething · 25/07/2023 15:48

Twins! That's super exciting! Congratulations everyone! I'm struggling to keep the secret, and my husband has made me promise not to go on a shopping spree, but I can't help but browse all the adorable carriers and cute clothes I couldn't afford last time round

Khanga27 · 25/07/2023 16:29

@STH1988 congratulations that is amazing news!! Do you have twins in your family?

I have a private early scan on Sat when based on LMP I will be 8+2 weeks. I am so nervous that they will need to do an internal scan, I know nhs site says they aren't risky but I'm still worried that something gets knocked or something goes wrong if they do internal. Just trying to keep calm over next few days.

STH1988 · 25/07/2023 17:20

@Khanga27 no twins in my family! I am 35 and apparently the older you are there is a slightly increased chance of producing more than one egg (WHO KNEW?!).

I was 7+4 today and it was internal, but I have read a lot of comments of people who've had scans earlier than me and they've been abdominal so try not to worry! It wasn't uncomfortable at all. Hopefully from 8 weeks they can at least try for abdominal first if you mention you're more comfortable with that?

LeopardLover · 25/07/2023 17:22

@Itsasomething It pays to be prepared so start building lists of what you want ready for Black Friday 😉

@Scarletthoping We really wanted twins last time, they wouldn't be as convenient this time but I'd still welcome it 😉

@STH1988 My friend wanted two and was happy to get them at once! Also if you hyperovulate you'll probably get another set of twins if you go again 🤣

@Khanga27 I had an internal scan last time, it didn't hurt at all and is very safe. Good for getting detail when baby is so small! I'm tempted to book one for around 8+5 x

Ahh thank you!! I'll make sure to drink loads to give best chance (and hope my bladder can hold it!!) I know internal may be able to see more, but at the moment all I want is a heartbeat. Anything beyond that is a bonus!

Ah wow amazing! I'm 35 as well, not sure if thats why i have felt every little ache so far or whether i just have a low pain threshold.

Khanga27 · 25/07/2023 17:36

@LeopardLover ahh thanks for reply. I'm just nervous of everything since finding out I was pregnant, so it's just another thing I'm worrying about. I'm hoping after Saturday I'll feel better.

ScottishStardust · 25/07/2023 17:48

@STH1988 amazing news about your twinnies!! I would have loved twins!! 👯‍♀️

Thanks @LeopardLover - keeping spirits up in hope for Friday! At least it's first thing so really only 2 days to go! Lied to work and said I had my smear so I'll be late in haha

LeopardLover · 25/07/2023 22:21

@Khanga27 That's understandable! My friend had an abdominal scan at 8 weeks so they might do it. Once it's out of the way hopefully you can relax a little ❤️

@ScottishStardust Not long now! And genius btw no one would question that. I might bank it 🤣💜

ame88 · 26/07/2023 07:56

Hi everyone!!
Excited to join!
Took a pregnancy the day I got back from honeymoon and BAM!
A little bit of a shock as it took quite a while with my little girl (22 months) so I expected the same but we've very luckily fallen on the first month!
Estimated DD is coming up as 23rd March so 5+4 atm! I've booked a private scan for 2 weeks time as it just doesn't feel real!
I hate this part of people not knowing, feels like I'm in limbo!

Prudence00 · 26/07/2023 08:02

@Khanga27 my private scan was abdominal at 7+6 and the picture/sound was so clear!

Scarletthoping · 26/07/2023 08:57

Bit worried this morning. I’m 5wks+2 and had quite a bit of cramping last night and still have some pain/cramping this morning. Plus some spotting - it was light brown - and not much. I also feel like I’ve got trapped wind (sorry for TMI… so don’t know if the pain is actually that).

This is my first pregnancy. Is this normal do you think? Dr Google seems to think so….

1sttimemummn · 26/07/2023 10:18

@MrsMcH23 hey! I find pregnacare makes me feel really nauseous so I always take it at night before I go to sleep. On a side not k that I’m still breastfeeding my first so I’ve been taking the breastfeeding ones. Most of the ingredients look the same I don’t suppose anyone knows what ones are best to take in this instance? Xx

1sttimemummn · 26/07/2023 10:22

Hi @Scarletthoping during my first pregnancy between weeks 6.5-8.5 I suffered from extremely bad pain . This is going to sound dramatics but since I’ve had a baby the only thing I can alimentary it to is contraction pain. I’d have wind but not just like wind pain it was excruciating would wake me up in the night, make me sweat , feel like I was going to pass out , couldn’t work out if I need the toilet or not so would be between the toilet and floor. They never got to the bottom of what it was but thought it could be bowel related and I had an early scan and the baby was fine. I used to take winzeze, rennies, lactolouse and really strong peppermint tea (obviously all of this was advised by a doctor but maybe check) and I think it marginally helped but to be honest it seemed to just get better over time. Not sure if it’s similar to what your experiencing but thought I’d share as everything was fine and it passed x

MrsMcH23 · 26/07/2023 10:40

@1sttimemummn i’m currently experiencing the same stomach pain that you described, I never had it with my first so was quite concerned. I’d also liken it to contractions, it comes in waves and is extremely painful. Also makes me feel like I urgently need to the toilet, but nothing happens. Did it go away by second trimester?

Scarletthoping · 26/07/2023 10:49

@1sttimemummn that sounds horrific and must have been so worrying for you! So glad it all worked out though. Thanks so much! If it gets worse I’ll go see my GP I think xxx
